So far so.. far

Sunday I was still feeling sick. I slept in then, went for short run/walk.
Dinner was chicken soup and salad and pizza. I have not been eating meat, but when I am sick I let myself eat whatever my body is craving and most of the time it is chicken soup. Ben got pizza and I had to take a couple of bites.
He gets this fancy shmancy pizza from Round Table that is covered in meat which I pick off. We also got a piece of pizza from Costco to compare the 2 pizzas. Every time he orders Round Table I remind him that Costco pizza is half the price and you get twice as much. But, I really only like cheese or veggie pizza and I am not an expert in the area of fancy pizzas so, it’s all the same to me. So, there is a piece of Costco pizza were were trying with the fancy pizza.
Dessert was some leftover smoothie we made from Friday night and a little over 1/2 a cup of light mint chip ice cream.
On the way up we stopped at McDonald’s, which is the last restroom stop before you start winding up the mountain with no bathroom for about 45 minutes or more. Ben got us a Shamrock shake and a huge hazelnut iced coffee to share. He had never had a Shamrock shake before so I was excited for this new experience, but he was not too impressed. Boo. We only stop at a McDonald’s for a pee brake so, this was a nice little treat since it will be our only Shamrock shake of the season, so I enjoyed it and didn’t make myself feel guilty. I probably had a couple of sips of the iced coffee and maybe 1/4 of the shake. S: estimate 160 calories
I packed pb and naner sandwiches for lunch. I was cheap with the pb on mine to keep the cals down. I used a little over a tbsp and half a small banana. L: approx. 330 calories

Here is a picture of a couple of the kids holding their green eggs and ham. I didn’t want to show their faces, but trust me – they are smiling!

This is a Trader Joes Cereal that has some similarities to Kashi Go Lean. It has the same fiber twigs (but these are thinner), puffed corn and rice and those tiny square pieces that I always assumed were part of the soy grits. All of this cereal is coated in a sweet honey-like glaze making it much sweeter than KGL. The individual cereal pieces are small so it is not easy (or graceful) to eat this cereal straight out of the box by the handful – although that never stops me. I prefer this cereal with soy milk more than yogurt. I like the cereals I eat with yogurt to be heartier, and more granola-y. I do feel like this is a nice treat while still being very healthy. It is pretty low in calories for a 1 cup serving – and I do appreciate that the servings are 1 cup for this cereal. Why do companies insist on making 3/4cup a serving? What is that?
The one drawback of this cereal is that it does not have as much protein as Kashi.
Overall I give it 4 chilies ,,,,
I’ve decided that posting everything I eat after every meal is kinda obsessive and I need to get away from that kind of behavior. So, I will post what I ate each day at the end of the day or the next morning. I am trying to focus on intuitive eating. I want to really listen to my body and give it what it needs. I do believe our bodies tell us when they are hungry and what they need. I have bad habits of eating when I am not hungry, emotional eating and eating because it’s “time”. Now I am focusing in and listening to my body’s cues. This is not easy. If you are like me and have been on diet after diet you are convinced that if you just do what your body says you will be an unstoppable eating machine. I don’t think that’s true. I remember watching a 20/20 episode a couple of years back on how we train our kids to stop listening to their bodies. We insist that they finish all their food and/or force foods on them. They did an experiment where they gave one group of kids a high calorie drink with their lunch and a second group a no/low calorie drink. Both groups consumed the same number of calories. The kids in the first group listened to their bodies and stopped eating when it had enough. As we grow we train ourselves to stop listening to what our bodies are saying. I need to relearn these cues.
But, I am not at a place where I can completely let go. I am still going to track what I eat. I am trying to lose about 17 pounds, but I don’t want to go on another diet. I want to lose the weight through a healthy lifestyle. So, I will continue to exercise and eat healthy while watching portion sizes and snacking, making healthy choices and listening to my body. Amen.
