I’m back from my 3 day cruise to Ensenada! It was super fun and I do want to recap all my eating since I want to see the damage I did over the weekend. I am still trying to lose about 15 pounds and this weekend did not help at all. There was a 24 hour buffet, fancy sit down dinner and of course – drinks! I am not normally a drinker. But I did manage to get super drunk on Saturday and barf. Isn’t that attractive? Nope, but I do want to give you an idea of how easily “everything in moderation” can go out the window when you’re on vacation!
Here is the cruise ship on the left – the Queen Mary is on the right.
Friday -
The BF and I getting on the ship.
Lunch on board – it was the first buffet of many. I had a big salad with a bunch of goodies and a piece of fish, stuffed tomato and rice with some stuff in it.
Dessert was what they called a “diet banana cake” and I had a couple of bites of this panini. They had some diet desserts over the course of the weekend and said they were made with a sugar substitute.
After lunch we walked around the ship and took some pics.
Then the fun begins! This was some fun tropical drink that I forget the name of
The BF and I with our drinks.
Before dinner we found a sushi bar! Yum
Dinner started with a fruit place from the SPA selections. (The menu had a couple of healthy choices they deemed “Spa”. I didn’t really stick to the healthy menu because I wanted to order what I wanted and try to stop eating when I was full.
The main course was salmon with potatoes and veggies. It was good, but not amazing.
DESSERT! The waiter referred to this dessert as the Devil’s Cake because we will never order anything else again. He was completely correct. This was delicious. It is a Chocolate Melting Cake served with vanilla ice cream. It has a layer of rich chocolate cake on top and the inside is like warm chocolate cake batter. Decadent.
I also had a bite of this Orange “diet” cake.
When we got back to our room the Room Steward made an elephant out of our towels. How cute it this?
Saturday -
Saturday we went exploring in Ensenada, Mexico. This doesn’t really count as Mexico to people in southern California since it’s just a little drive south. It’s more considered Baja California.
We got lunch at a taco stand. I had chips and salsa (no pic) to start. Then, a chicken taco and beans with cheese. I also ate some of the BF’s fish taco.
We stopped for ice creamat a Paleteria. This is strawberry made from a water base (not leche). We also got a strawberry drink with fruit in it. It was so good, but a pic of a Styrofoam cup didn’t do it justice.
Many people go to Mexico for cheap prescription drugs, such as Viagra… Notice the man with the can who can still get a hard on.
Here is the ship in Ensenada.
We were sad to leave Mexico…we took a pic before the ship left.
Saturday dinner was the fancy night, you were supposed to dress up for dinner.
I started with pumpkin soup, which I had never had before. It was okay, nothing compared to the butternut squash soup from the other day.
I ordered the lobster and tiger shrimp for my main course. I ate the lobster and one of the shrimp with butter. I’m not really a shrimp person so I gave them to the BF. The mushroom risotto was okay. I don’t know why I don’t like risotto because I love rice, why is that?
It should not be a surprise that I got the Chocolate Melting cake again for dinner. At least this time the BF and I shared it so I only ate half.
Fun times after dinner
Sunday -
We walked around the ship a little after breakie.
Lunch on Sunday? Yep, another buffet. (This pic is sideways and I’m not going to deal with it.) On this tray is a veggie gyro with cheese and some mayo sauce (not healthy even though the world veggie is in it), some pasta stuff and Waldorf salad, plus my fave = salad bar salad
The BF and I split a calzone because the fresh pizza bar smelled amazing.
Dessert after lunch. Hey, I’m on vacation right? You can have dessert after every meal when you’re on vacation. This was a soft served strawberry and chocolate frozen yogurt.
BUFFET. I swear this is out of control now. We skipped the sit down fancy dinner in favor of the buffet because we were tore up from swimming and being hung-over. Here I have mushroom soup, salad, salmon, chicken veggies and potatoes.
On vacation (and in my life in general) no meal is complete without dessert! The buffet had Melting Chocolate Cake for dessert! I ate some of the BF’s and had some blueberry “diet” cake plus half a piece of chocolate cake and a little hot chocolate because it was cold. Notice the BF’s “thumb’s up” he loved the melting cake too. I don’t know how I am going to find another dessert that can compare! This was the first time that I felt like I ate too much after I was done. For the most part I left food on my plate if I was full. This dinner and dessert pushed me over and I felt sick after. Lesson learned – stop before you are too full!
Our towel flower and chocolates

It was a great trip and we had so much fun! I was not ready to come back to work this morning. Monday morning we woke up, got ready and got off the ship (after customs) and went straight to work. Boo to that.

Wow! It looks like you had an amazing cruise! Everything looks yummy:] And I adore the towels:]
I think the lobster looks the best! Oh well, chalk it up to a good time and just get back on track.
Conquer – I know the towels were super cute
Biz – that’s what I am going to do chalk it up to a good time and move forward. Thanks for the push.
I can’t resist staring at the foods, gosh you starve me….I am sure diet is not allowed in this cruise…

Your life deserves a place like this.
Jhazline, yeah there is no way I would have been able to “diet” while on the cruise. I did try to eat healthy foods (mixed in with super decadent foods too of course). I just ate a little too much. I need to remember moderation and stopping when I’m full!
