Run 1/17/2009

by runeatrepeat on January 17, 2009

I met a new friend on my run today. I was doing 13 miles on a bike path nearby and at mile 8 a guy ran up beside me and started asking if I was training for a race. I told him which one and it turns out he is a pacer for that same race. He  is pacing the 3:40 marathoners which is waaaaay faster than I am going so I won’t run with him. But, it was nice to run with him for a bit and chat. He was funny and told me he is good at running, but not good at finding love. He said he has given up on finding a girlfriend, but not given up on running. He has ran over 70 marathons!!! That is amazing to me. I just want to finish one and I’m not even pushing for a good time! While I was running with him I sped up a bit and when he left I was winded, but I guess that’s good to run with someone faster than you sometimes. He actually came back around and I saw him again a few miles later. It was a pleasant little running surprise :)

On the toe front- it didn’t hurt while I was running at all. But, my other foot with the recent tendonitis problems is a little sore. I hope I am not compensating for my hurt big toe by putting more pressure on my other foot. I’m going to watch that. Again, I have a podiatrist appointment on Monday, so hopefully he can give me the all clear to run the full mary in 2 weeks!!!

Thanks for all the comments on my pedicure :)  I was lucky to get my toes done the day before I dropped the HUGE can on it so I was comfortable showing you my blue toe. I think for all I ask my feet to do (carry me around for miles on end) they deserve a pedi at least once a month, in the summer more often. Also, since I’m in California flip-flops are a year round deal and everyone around here gets pedis every 2 to 3 weeks!!!
