Walk and stretch

July 02, 2009 By: runeatrepeat Category: Uncategorized

Marathon Training : Today was a rest day. The Runner’s World training program defines rest days…

Rest Days: Ideally, on rest days you should not exercise at all. But it’s okay to cross-train with a no-impact activity like stretching, yoga, or swimming.

I took a 40 minute walk this morning with Ben and then made it to YOGA!!!

DSCN1256Breakfast – I really wanted to dig into my new Amazing Grass today so I made a smoothie with the Mango/Pom flavor. I used Almond Milk, spinach, frozen blubes and the packet. It was a little grainy for my taste and could have used a banana, but I liked it all right…DSCN1254

I also had a mini-bagel on the side with almond butter. DSCN1257

After breakfast I went to yoga…it’s been too long! I really missed it and had the best time. I’m always intimidated to go to yoga because I don’t feel “good at it”, but I’m always glad I went :)

I super happy that I just realized there is a good yoga studio in my new city of residence in MD!!!

Watermelon after yoga :) DSCN1258

Lunch was a massive salad topped with the new tempeh from yesterday. I love this stuff! Plus a piece of cheese bread on the side.DSCN1266

This is the bread I’ve been raving about…I get it at Costco in a double pack. But – they don’t have it at every Costco, even the ones in Southern California, some have it, some don’t…Tay was right when she guessed:)DSCN1261

I also dipped into this Hummus Quartet…I use hummus in Ben’s sandwiches instead of mayo and of course I love to eat it up too!DSCN1263

…because I’m over your issues.  – That was from some random TV show the longest time ago and for some reason my friends would always say it.

There are 2 different issues I am dealing with in becoming an Intuitive Eater.

1. Overcoming years of dieting and the effects it’s had on my body, hunger signals and psychological impact

2. Overcoming emotional eating

These 2 things are completely different issues and must be dealt with as such. It makes becoming an Intuitive Eater much more difficult when I am not sure why I am eating – it could be “dieting backlash” (from years of restricting) or it could be how I am dealing with a stressful situation.

I am talking about this today because I could not stop eating yesterday afternoon. I had 6 random snacks in the course of a few hours and after that I was angry with myself. I think the snacking was a result of emotional eating, but after I had already “ruined” my day I ended up eating half of Ben’s fries from dinner and some frozen yogurt…that is diet mentality.DSCN1245DSCN1250DSCN1246DSCN1247DSCN1251

I’m glad I am able to draw a line and see exactly where my different habits are coming from, now it’s just a matter of fixing them!

The first step is recognizing the problem. Done.

Next, I must identify what’s making me do it and think of ideas that will help change these super bad and long lived habits!

In the mess of my random eating I did have my all time favorite Whole Foods couscous mixed with chickpeas for protien. I am re-making this dish at home for sure!DSCN1248

Tempeh tempeh…

July 02, 2009 By: runeatrepeat Category: Uncategorized

I wasn’t in “budget mode” yesterday when I went to WF (obviously) and ended up with a new find:DSCN1236

I heated up a few pieces and put it in a Flat Out with veggies and peanut sauce. Loved it!!! I really think I like tempeh more than tofu :) DSCN1233

One of the errands of today was a trip to Costco – I was out of cherries!!! While there I partook in many samples…too many to recall, but here are the 2 I remembered to picture.DSCN1228DSCN1229

On the way home I broke into the cherries because I am an addict…see the pits? I didn’t know what to do with them in my car. DSCN1240

R.E.R FACT:  if there is fruit in my car on the way home from the store I am going to eat some a lot of it.

These are my Costco picks ( plus a watermelon that was too big to go on the conveyor). Yes, I took a picture of my food in the store and people were looking at me like I was crazy :) Total : $45.00DSCN1231

This is the massive watermelon mentioned above.DSCN1243

I ate a lot of it because it wouldn’t fit in our biggest Tupperware!DSCN1244

I’ve been snacking all afternoon and it’s definitely NOT all hunger – I have an Intuitive Eating post for tonight!
