One Waffle? WTF?

I don't know what I was thinking by  having just 1 waffle and a Green Monster for breakfast. That is not enough food for me. My RD has told me I need to eat more in the morning (and at lunch) to avoid overeating/binging later. Today is perfect example of why - I was hungry at 9am and can't seem to get full now! At 9am I ate an apple to help, but it didn't do much. A bit later … [Read more...]

Snot Rockets

I have never been able to (or really ever wanted to) blow a snot rocket. Maybe I am a lady, maybe I don't possess the snot rocket gene, but I can't bring myself to do it. But, when I run - so does my nose. My answer to this is a folded up paper towel* tucked in my shorts or sports bra. I just blow my nose mid-stride and keep going. *You must use a paper towel NOT a napkin or … [Read more...]

Fruity & Ruby

After a big, late lunch all I wanted for dinner was fruit! I cut up an apple, 2 kiwis and some watermelon. On the side I had a piece of cheese toast - this is one of my favorite savory things to eat. Normally I'm a sweets girl all the way. I have been having a very hard time randomly snacking whenever I'm in the kitchen and the way I've decided to stop this is to 1. Chew … [Read more...]

Day of rest & Raspados

I always Rest the day after a long run, but I can't do nothing! So Ben and I took a walk after our initial test of the Push-Up Challenge. After church and errands I mentioned the Raspado stand that saved my life one day after I had been walking for an hour. Ben had never been there so we stopped. I got a medium mango. Isn't it funny that there is some man with a snow cone … [Read more...]

Push-ups Challenge

Ben and I saw Julie and Julia last night. I liked it! I normally only like trashy comedies like The Hangover and the timeless classics like Tommy Boy. But, we both really enjoyed it. Maybe it was because I saw some of myself in Julie? And it made Ben happy to know that I am "normal for a blogger" and he's not the only husband who has a blogger wife :) We started the date with … [Read more...]

Happy Face

This is my happy face before my run this morning. I was determined to make this run good. After 2 bad long runs I have been really discouraged so I took a look at my training plan, fitness level, fuel, rest and pride and decided I needed to change some things up. I cut back on my mileage after coming to terms with the fact that I wasn't at the fitness level I thought when I … [Read more...]

Steak Prostitute

I am a "Steak Prostitute". Let me explain...There is something I really really want to do and I kinda need Ben to agree with it before I do it so I needed to persuade him. I had it - a genius idea! Steak! Now, I know I am a hypocrite because I don't eat meat*, but these are desperate times people. (*I do eat fish.) When Ben came home and saw that I made him steak he was so … [Read more...]

Kick the food police to the curb

The fourth principle of Intuitive Eating is Challenge the Food Police. Scream a loud "NO" to thoughts in your head that declare you're "good" for eating under 1000 calories or "bad" because you ate a piece of chocolate cake. The Food Police monitor the unreasonable rules that dieting has created. The police station is housed deep in your psyche, and its loud speaker shouts … [Read more...]

Sloppy Seconds

I had leftovers for dinner - I like them, but I thought Sloppy Seconds was a more fun title :) Leftovers are so great - you don't have to cook, but you still get all the deliciousness of a home cooked meal. I had the Peanut Noodles from the other night - those are chickpeas (the first time I made it I topped with peanuts, but chickpeas were inside the dish). Dessert! These … [Read more...]

Work for vacation

I have a lot to do before we leave for Belize: - Organize Closet - Wash Clothes - Pack - Go to the store for toiletries - Reserve: Shuttle to 2nd location - Research Activities/reservations - Set up posts and guest posts while I am away - Mail TY cards - no, I am still not done with this :( Vacations can be a lot of work - at least until you actually get there! I ate … [Read more...]

Don't you hate it when you're in a rush in the morning. I dashed out the door feeling like I was forgetting something. I hate that! But, it was completely my fault because I chose not to make lunches the night before and I overslept on my alarm. The combination made for a frantic morning! Today was a Rest Day so I did some strength moves in my front room and then took a short … [Read more...]

Pick a treat

I have a lot of things to do, but I would rather mess around. I need to get on task! This afternoon I had another snack of trail mix. When I got home I had random bites of leftovers when I decided to plate a meal. I had sweet potato "fries" and a big salad with hummus. After dinner I couldn't decide what I wanted to have a for a treat. I made Raw Choc-Oat Cookies - love … [Read more...]

I Love Rotta Wine

***This post is from Friday - for some reason it never got published. I'm just posting this for tonight because I'm having computer problems - must be all that porn I've been looking at...*** I got home and did my new "30 minute wait" before eating and it totally worked. I bet the chocolate chip muffin helped keep me from being hungry :) I made Pita Pizzas for dinner. I love … [Read more...]

I actually look forward to my walk home after work - courtesy of my "Chevrolegs" :) Ben and I are still deciding whether or not we should get my car out here (it's still in CA!). I can't decide. I know I will really appreciate having it here in the winter, but I don't know if I need it here??? It's realistic that I may need it, I have no idea what a "real" winter is like (I … [Read more...]

Distance vs. Time

After Caitlin asked about "What is a long run?" it got me thinking. I have always thought of runs in terms of distance, but over time my running has gotten a little faster (don't get all crazy, not much) so I am running the same distance, but less time. I used to run 6 miles on  my treadmill 5 days a week. I did 10 minute miles so it took me one hour. Today I decided to run … [Read more...]

Walking and reading

I've been bringing reading material along for my walk home from work. Today I was reading Intuitive Eating, I know I'm super predictable. Anyways, reading the book slowly- as I actually go through the process, is very helpful. Part of what I read today talked about self talk and that this is a process. When you mess up - and you will. - don't talk to yourself negatively. This … [Read more...]
