Food Photos and V Day

by runeatrepeat on February 10, 2010

I have to apologize for today’s food photos. I wasn’t very patient with the camera and my food wasn’t very nice to look at. But, I am documenting all the same :)

After a casual stroll on the treadmill I had an afternoon snack of a Vita Muffin (part of my hunker down stash).

And some cereal. This could have been more balanced, I realize.

And dinner was roasted brussel, onions and brown rice with a little salt and butter. See, not so nice to look at, but very nice to eat :)

Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is this Sunday. My mom’s birthday is actually Feb. 14th, so I think of her more than anything on this day. Usually the BF (now husband) celebrate another day.

But the day has an even bigger, very important message related to it – V Day. VDay is a global movement to end violence against women and girls. Events are planned throughout the world. Check it out here.

I saw the Vagina Monologues with my mom a few years back and thought it was cool. But, more than that I love that a group is making efforts to educate people about and stop violence against women – it is tragic how common rape and female circumcision are in our world.

I feel helpless to make any kind of difference, but becoming educated and spreading the world that this is unacceptable is something, right? I want to do more though…

I loved the V-Monologues and wish I had some balls (haha, the irony) to get on stage and participate in the movement.

That muffin should be illegal.

Lindsay, if you really want to do it you should! That would be so cool.

Thanks for bringing up VDay! It is such an important topic and it really doesn’t get the talk it should. I think just mentioning it on your blog is a great way to get the word out there.

First, I just want to say I love your blog!

Also, I’ve never really tried brussel sprouts but I bought some on Sunday. Yours look so good, you inspired me to try them! This may be a stupid question but- How exactly do you cook them?

I was planning to watch Vagina Monologues this Feb. 20 with my boyfriend or sisters. The tickets are sold out.

And thanks for sharing about V Day. I have to look into it.
