Trader Joes on the Web

I know I am not alone in my love obsession with Trader Joes. There are hundreds of bloggers out there who rave about TJ’s. Others who don’t have a TJ’s near them make it a point to stop at a store when they are out of town. (source) They are rated the #4 Healthiest Store in America – which means they are on the radar of healthy living blogs across the country. (source) … [Read more...]

Save the Best for Last

When you are eating do you save the best part for last? Most of the time I eat a few bites of my favorite part of the meal. Then, I eat all the stuff that’s not my fave and save the last bites as the best ones. Tonight I left a few chickpeas at the end of my salad and a BIG, delicious bite of this… But – with trail mix I do the opposite. I pick out all my faves and eat … [Read more...]

Coming to Conclusions…

Hello hello! Sorry this post is late, but as long as it’s not my period we’re all good right? This morning I woke up and realized there are only 60 days until Ben’s reunion and I needed to figure out reservations so we could potentially cancel the “just in case” reservations we already made. This ended up taking over an hour so I decided to eat breakfast before doing some … [Read more...]

Avoid Getting Hurt

I completely believe that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. So, I try to eat healthy, fill up on Vitamin C during cold season and am following a few rules to avoid new running injuries. Most experts recommend to following to prevent injuries…this list is from the American Academy of Family Physicians, but I’ve read the same guidelines many times: Don't increase … [Read more...]

In Limbo

Today I tweeted that I was sick of being in Limbo and many of my fellow twitterers chirped in that they feel my pain. (source) I’m ready to move on and find a new job and plan the rest of my little year (including plan my race calendar!). But – everything is on hold at least until the end of April! Hopefully it will be worth the wait! Lunch was a mess. Not in how it tasted, … [Read more...]

To Run or Not to Run II

This morning I woke up to this forecast: Columbia, MD (21045) Weather Updated: Mar 29, 2010, 7:05am EDT Right Now Rain Shower 49° F So I had to ask myself, “Should I run outside or go to kickboxing?” It’s a hard choice since I love KB lately – but I also want to build my running back up. I double checked and it wasn’t actually raining that … [Read more...]

Breakfast All Day

I was a lazy food blogger today in that I didn’t take pictures of all my eats. Plus my food choices were un-impressive – breakfast and then more breakfast! Ben and I slept in this morning. When we finally got up I was hungry! I ate a few bites of leftovers straight from the fridge and then we took a short bike ride (very short because we realized we were late for church). … [Read more...]

Cherry Blossom Festival

Today Ben and I headed into Washington D.C. for the Cherry Blossoms! Three years ago (just about a month before I met Ben!) I visited DC just before the blossoms came out and was disappointed. But, I was very happy to be able to catch them today! I packed up a lunch and we were on our way :) But, Ben opted for Chik-Fil-A and I stole some fries. I think I may try to limit my … [Read more...]

Dress for Running Success

I busted out seven miles today but it was cold and windy! Since the sun was shining brightly I thought the temps were higher (as they’ve been the last few days). But I misjudged and didn’t dress as warm as I should have. See, I was dressed like this… When I should have been dressed like this… okay maybe I’m exaggerating – but the point is I was COLD and my hands hurt. I … [Read more...]

Pump Up the Protein

First off, THANK YOU all so much for your amazing and kind comments on my last post. No matter how long I blog I don't think it's ever going to get easy to put myself out there like that. I truly appreciate every single comment. Thank you :) Today I tried to make an effort to pump up the protein in my life. I made a protein cake thinger (it’s a technical term) for breakfast … [Read more...]

The Reality of the Situation

I didn’t post last night because I have a lot going on in my personal life and also had a lot of thinking to do. I was thinking about the reality of my situation… The reality of the situation is… 1. I want to lose weight 2. Most of the bloggers I read that successfully lost weight did something to lose that weight. Some of them counted calories, some of them did weight … [Read more...]

Grilled Cheese and some Confessions

I made the best lunch today! I have been craving grilled cheese and finally had the chance to make it today. I used that new cheese I got yesterday and this new quinoa bread… The bread’s description was that it is nutty and creamy. Um, it is just like any other ww bread I’ve had – good but, nothing special. Grilled cheese with alfalfa sprouts and tomato…amazing melty … [Read more...]

A Proper Breakfast

This morning I stuck to my plan of either eating or exercising within an hour of waking. I wanted to take a 9:30am class at the gym so I made breakfast, a proper breakfast if you will… Oatmeal: 1/3c oats, soy milk, chia seeds, vanilla, salt, stevia, banana. Topped with raisins, pumpkin butter and almond butter. But – I got caught up in some blog maintenance (did anyone … [Read more...]

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Last night after posting (and therefore omitted from the blog) I had chocolate covered strawberries for dessert. Amazing! All day today I dreamt about tonight’s dessert… Dinner was a last minute change of plans. I realized that Ben has alternate dinner plans for tomorrow night and our guac would be brown or I would eat it all (most likely the latter). Since I didn’t want to … [Read more...]

Stop Edging The Cake

I’ve talked about “Edging the Cake” on RER before. You know, when you slice off a bit of the edge of that cake on your counter. Sometimes it’s to “even it out”, sometimes it’s because you just want a taste…before you know it a whole piece is gone, but you don’t feel the satisfaction of eating a piece.  I do this all the time with any type of bread or sweets. Today I … [Read more...]
