Easy Tortilla Soup and Soda Stream Review

by runeatrepeat on November 6, 2011

I love soup so the cold rainy day inspired me to make my Easy Tortilla Soup Recipe!

You only need a handful of ingredients – broth, corn, jar of salsa, chicken (canned or hand shredded), shredded cheese and tortilla chips.IMG 2181 533x800 thumb Easy Tortilla Soup and Soda Stream Review

Throw it all in a pot. Heat.IMG 2197 800x533 thumb Easy Tortilla Soup and Soda Stream Review

Fill a bowl up with chips…IMG 2237 800x533 thumb Easy Tortilla Soup and Soda Stream Review

Pour the hot soup over it. Top with cheese and sour cream (or greek yogurt if you never buy sour cream like me). I also added some chopped zucchini for extra veggies. Enjoy!IMG 2243 800x533 thumb Easy Tortilla Soup and Soda Stream Review

Now for a little story…

Once upon a time there was a girl who liked to drink. Specifically, she liked to drink bubbly drinks! A LOT.IMG 0184 600x800 thumb Easy Tortilla Soup and Soda Stream Review

She drank so much she often ran out of bubbly drinks wlEmoticon sadsmile1 Easy Tortilla Soup and Soda Stream Review and she spent way too much money on sodas and seltzers.

But, Soda Stream sent her a soda happiness making machine and now she will have soda forever!!! IMG 2199 800x533 thumb Easy Tortilla Soup and Soda Stream Review

Yes! I am the very proud and excited owner of a Soda Stream! The company sent it to me because I am the BIGGEST fan of seltzer (plus I begged).

I was a little afraid of this space aged contraption, but it’s really easy to set up and use. Plus it doesn’t take up a lot of room!IMG 2219 800x533 thumb Easy Tortilla Soup and Soda Stream Review

The Soda Stream kit came with a ton of flavor bottles, plus a sample pack.IMG 2203 800x533 thumb Easy Tortilla Soup and Soda Stream Review

After you carbonate the water you can choose to add a flavor. Pour and gently shake. IMG 2208 800x533 thumb Easy Tortilla Soup and Soda Stream ReviewIMG 2211 800x533 thumb Easy Tortilla Soup and Soda Stream Review

I tried the diet Cranberry Raspberry one first and loved it! Ben really enjoyed this flavor too.IMG 2214 800x533 thumb Easy Tortilla Soup and Soda Stream Review

They offer every flavor of soda I’d ever want! Even diet cola.IMG 2225 800x533 thumb Easy Tortilla Soup and Soda Stream Review

Which we also tried. Yep, spot on.IMG 2227 800x533 thumb Easy Tortilla Soup and Soda Stream Review

Disclaimer: Soda Stream sent me this kit for free. The opinions on RER are my own. They are especially mine and mine only when I embarrass Ben (which is often).

But, if you read about the time I tried to track my drinks for a day you’re aware that I LOVE seltzer and soda. I run out of seltzer at least 3 times a week. Now I am super excited to have access to unlimited bubbles! IMG 2215 800x533 thumb Easy Tortilla Soup and Soda Stream Review

making your own pop? so cool! do these sodas still have a bunch of sugar? or can you moderate the sugar amounts?

You can use less flavor add-in, but it calls for a cup. They also have ‘diet’ options with fake sugar.

I’ve never even heard of a contraption like that! Looks like it’s right up your alley. My roommate also really likes seltzer, which she refers to as her “bubbly”.

Oh I had to pull my Hus away from that thing at Costco! They gave us a sample and did the whole shin-dig with it and now he wants it so bad. Let me know what you think of it… We don’t drink a lot of soda anyway, so I’m not sure it’d be worth it. But my Mister is trying to be the best salesman ever saying “we’ll use it for mixed drinks when we have people over,” ‘It’ll save us room instead of having boxes of cans and 2Liters all over!” I’m still not convinced…

My friend and I were just talking about this! I’ve been interested because I drink Diet Coke like my life depends on it. So, that’s my question- does the Diet Cola compare to Diet Coke? Or is more like Diet Pepsi? What about price?

Hey lady, how’s the stomach doing? Better?`

Yeah, it’s feeling better finally today. So, do you think it’s not giardia then? I was going to call you this weekend but I remembered you were doing fun things!

Give me a call and we’ll talk about it. If you’re feeling 100% better then I’d say no, but I’m not one to diagnose it! I can say thought that it comes in waves..but if you can eat more than bananas, applesauce, soup, rice and toast, I think you’re doing better!

That looks like so much fun! I always wondered why you didn’t have a soda stream….

I always get so jealous when I see people with these things but then I think even if i had one, I probably wouldn’t ever have the energy to use it. Kind of like a juicer. I had one for a few months (my friend let me borrow hers) and didn’t use it once. I still love the idea…that counts. :)

Yeah, Meghann said she doesn’t use it that often. We’ll see if my addiction keeps me going :)

I hope you are feeling better.

OMG so jealous!! I want one! We actually registered for one for our wedding (almost 2 years ago) and didn’t get one but I still want one!!!

I saw that in Kohl’s yesterday and thought ‘now that’s cool, I want one!’ (even though I really don’t drink soda, but I like bubbly stuffs!).

Love the soup idea, easy peasy, just like I like ‘em.

My husband and I have talked about getting one before, but I don’t know what artificial sweetener they use in their diet drinks. Stevia? Yay! Aspartame? Ugh, but wouldn’t necessarily stop me. Splenda? Get thee away from me!

I LOVE my soda stream. We don’t drink much soda but use it all of the time for tonic and seltzer. I have only tried a few of their flavors but loved the cranberry raspberry drink. Also, the energy tastes just like Red Bull, if you like that.

Ha, I love how most of your ingredients were Trader Joes! I love that store, it’s my happy place :) ! My super happy place would be eating tortilla soup inside a TJ’s… now that’s living

All of the ingredients are TJ’s! One stop, one pot!

Sodastream sent me one too and I AM obsessed. But I ran out of the gas and need to finally order a refill. Sparkling water addictions get expensive!

I’ve been wanting a soda stream for awhile now. You said you begged, huh? You should try begging for a give away! I drink seltzer like it’s my job :)

This is crazy. Is cola the only diet flavor you can make?

Reply

31 runeatrepeat November 9, 2011 at 7:47 am

No, they have a few other flavors too!
