Green Tea Giveaway

Hello and Happy Wednesday! This week is almost back to normal after I do that power-walking session with the corporate retreat tomorrow. I like being on a schedule so I feel “off” a bit.

Last night involved a lot of toast. I don’t know why, but I’ve been craving toast! It also involved some Toast.O Tosh.O

He raved about a chocolate chip cookie at Lunch in this video. Lunch is a restaurant in Culver City <- that’s where I was yesterday! I coulda tried it for myself.

Lucky for me all that toast fueled me for a great 8 miler this morning! I know I should do speed work, but all I really wanna do is run long and slow for days…IMG 8273 800x533 thumb Green Tea Giveaway

Wait, what’s that white thing behind my wrist?

Oh, my Vitatop order is in! I only order when they have free shipping.IMG 8272 800x533 thumb Green Tea Giveaway

I quickly made an egg sandwich so I wouldn’t eat 6 Vitatops for breakfast (mostly because that’s expensive not because I’m morally opposed to it).IMG 8277 800x533 thumb Green Tea Giveaway

Weight Loss Wednesday – Green Tea

So, you may have heard time and time again that green tea helps weight loss. I’m sure this is true if you switch out 2 Big Macs with 2 cups of green tea everyday, but I’m not positive adding a cup of the hot stuff will make the scale drop.

At the same time I do love me a tasty beverage and easy to incorporate weight loss trick wlEmoticon winkingsmile13 Green Tea Giveaway So I drank up the green tea that the nice people at Sokenbicha sent me. This flavor is mint, I’m normally not a fan of mint tea but it’s so mild I liked it.IMG 8282 533x800 thumb Green Tea Giveaway

They have six flavors, all unsweetened – I like that it’s not sweetened with fake sugar and called diet since I’m trying to get away from truckloads of the stuff. You can check out their website or FB page here.IMG 8284 800x533 thumb Green Tea Giveaway

From the green tea wiki page (obviously a source comparable to a medical journal):

Although green tea does not raise the metabolic rate enough to produce immediate weight loss, a green tea extract containing polyphenols and caffeine has been shown to induce thermogenesis and stimulate fat oxidation, boosting the metabolic rate 4% without increasing the heart rate.[5]

I’m so glad someone else is at least somewhat skeptical about the weight-loss properties of green tea… You have a valid point: I’m sure if you switch out the 2 Big Macs for tea you’ll lose weight! hahaha!!!

I’m running a nice short run today since I’m teaching Pilates and Ballet tonight. Hope you enjoyed your run today!

  2. Dynamics says

I drink Yerba Mate and it too is supposed to be for weight loss. I drink it cause it tastes good and it warms you up in the winter. It has some ingredient similar to caffeine, but it does not have the side effects. I am going to try and see how it tastes cold for the summer. Have you ever tried it?

  3. Maren says

I rarely drink tea…I feel like hot tea is something you should drink slow…and I chug everything ha! but I would definitely like to try some cold tea! Thanks for the giveaway!

  4. Kaelin says

I haven’t tried a lot of green teas that I like, but I am willing and available to try more kinds!

I bought my first box of vitatops at the store this weekend, but haven’t tried them yet!

  5. Sarah says

I drink green tea everyday… I normally stay away from store bought cold teas as they usually have added sugar, but this looks great. Would love to try it!

  6. jamie says

I am a huge unsweetened green tea lover. I spend, scratch that, WASTE a small fortune at Starbucks each week.. I’d love to try these instead!!

  7. Meg says

I work for a place that does studies/research etc. and last I was prevy too you’d have to drink 2 gallons a day (I don’t know about you but I have to pee enough without 2 gallons of green tea!) Opps you said keep it clean and I’m talking about pee, my bad!

  8. says

I try to drink a cup of tea every day, but lately it’s been so warm I haven’t had much of a desire to have any. :-/

These look perfect for these awesome spring days!

  9. says

I’m currently training for the reach the beach relay so I’m trying to slay some runs daily. I’m not sure anything can prepare me for running overnight!

  10. Emma says

Long time lurker here! Iced tea is something I occasionally crave during a long run. Probably as a signal of dehydration? It’d be awesome to win this giveaway!

  11. Rachael Ann says

An unsweetened bottled tea? Man I hope they start stocking this in gas stations in my area… I can’t have any sugar (thanks Doc) so I usually end up with just plain water. Sometimes I just want something more fun!

  12. says

Yerba Mate tea always gets me out of a hangover, a post-donut extravaganza, or an indian buffet food coma!! Highly recommend it :) btw I’ve been craving toast like crazy too — I found a jar of pumpkin butter and I’ve been going to town

  13. Nikki F says

Too bad green tea doesn’t help with weight loss. I drink it daily. I also love toast. I had the stomach flu a few weeks ago and only ate toast for days after since it was the only thing I could handle. I’m still having it daily!

  14. Amanda says

My bf and I just had a convo about green tea this morning! While I’d still prefer iced coffee I’ll take green tea too :) Friday I’m planning on going to a coffee shop to try iced peanut butter cup coffee… Pretty excited!!

  15. allison says

I really need the green tea to replace my diet coke addiction….but let’s be honest, nothing can replace dc.

  16. Kara says

Green tea time is coming around. I usually drink coffee in the winter and green tea in the summer! I love green tea and am not sure why, but I am especially a fan of the green tea from Aldi’s! Love it!

  17. TeresaD says

I drink green tea every morning since I stopped drinking coffee a few months ago. I would love to have handy cold bottles. ;)
I talked to my nutritionist about coffee vs. green tea vs Yerba Mate. She said of the three she would prefer me to stick with green tea. According to her (a Dr, but not an expert), black coffee makes the liver dump sugar into the blood stream. Yerba Mate does not cause the same insulin spike, but it’s still harder for the liver to process. Green tea had the most minimal caffeine impact while providing the body with antioxidants.

  18. says

I love anything with caffeine, so I’d probably love the green tea!

Nice 8 miler this morning! Btw. your breakfast sandwiches always look SO good.

  19. says

    yummm looks so good!!

btw, i love vitatops! i need to order them from their website otherwise they’re a little pricey..but soooo good

  20. Rachael J. says

I am actually in England at the moment, but from Minnesota! I have been drinking tons of tea since being here :) and tea is not only a drink here, but it’s also what they call dinner.

  21. Cellabella says

I’d love to try these teas – I agree, it’s refreshing to find drinks that aren’t artificially sweetened but rather are what they are and proud of it!

  22. Amy says

I also have a bad habit of drinking “diet” drinks. I know that the fake sugar is awful for me, so I would love to try an unsweetened tea that a fellow sugar-addict recommends :)

  23. Suzi says

I love Green Tea. I have often thought about ordering vita tops, but they are so expensive that I can’t bring myself to do it.

  24. says

I drink a lot of green tea, especially when I don’t get my coffee in the AM. An unsweetened, bottled green tea would be so beneficial as a to-go option!

  25. says

I was trying to think of something fun to comment on when I saw the post on your workout with Bob Harper. How fun is that..and on the beach, awesome! Thanks for the giveaway :-)

  27. says

I used to go to the booths at the mall that give out samples of green tea so many times! They started recognizing me and wouldn’t give me the freebies anymore. Sad day.

  28. Jennifer says

Those look good. I get so sick of drinking plain water, some unsweetened green tea seems like it would be so refreshing!

  29. says

I am a proclaimed “tea addict” and proud of it!! I would love to try this stuff in any flavor but the mint. Blech! Mint and I are not friends.
Are you going to be running the Hot Chocolate 15K in San Diego on Sunday? I’m traveling from WA for a nerd conference and get to do the race too! I’d love to meet you along with some of the other blogger girls like SR and SarahOUaL. :)

  30. says

I love green tea, especially a hot cup on a cold evening! I’m a fan of mint, so the mint tea sounds fabulous. Thank you for offering such a great giveaway.

  31. says

I notice a difference when I drink green tea often! Maybe all it does is flush out the toxins but I always feel better and lighter after drinking it for a while!

  32. Holly B says

I drink green tea at work but I’ve never been in love with the flavor. I like the slightly sweetened cold green tea drink varieties though!

  33. Alison B says

I’m not normally a tea drinker, but if it will help stimulate my metabolism that would be a great thing!

  34. Michelle says

So, I recently switched from coffee ( I was completely addicted…like 8 cups a day addicted!) and made the mistake of buying cheapo tea at my local grocery store. I broke out in a rash all over my neck and chest!!! I learned that cheapo tea is cut with other ingredients that aren’t even tea leaves, and that was probably the cause of my allergic reaction. It went away when I switched to another brand of green tea. So, I’m on the hunt for a good quality tea to get a little caffeine fix. Help me, before i go back to the fully leaded stuff :) thanks!! And, I looooooove your blog!! I’m an avid follower!

  35. liz says

I LOVE green tea……….i usually have a cup with my lunch or right after. hope i win id like to try those bad boys:)

  36. Mary R. says

I love green tea. I drink it on a daily basis usually hot though. It keeps me regular. Ok, TMI. But if I was going to over share this would be the blog to do it on. Lol, seriously though I would love to try these. I’m always looking for new tea drinks with no sugar espcially since I gave up diet soda at the beginning of the year. Sometimes you just need something with taste. They can be almost impossible to find unless I stop at Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s.

  37. Hannah M. says

Trying to get the husband to drink more green tea by adding it to our Southern sweet tea. It’s gotta be better than nothing, right?

  38. tiffany says

yum! i’m japanese, so we always have green tea bags or loose leaf around, but this is much more convenient. :)

  39. Molly C says

I am such a huge fan of your blog. I would love to win this giveaway because green tea is one of my absolute favorite beverages. I drink at least three cups a day; never get sick of it!

  40. Tina says

I wonder how the Sokenbicha would taste. Does it sound like Soak N Beatcha? Is that what they do with those little tea leaves!?!

Anyway, I’m on week 5 in my fitbook and it has made a huge difference for me. I tried using it 3 years ago and loved the concept but couldn’t get my act together. I guess with all my previous practice attempts the stars have come together for me. So, now I’m really doing the intuitive eating and writing in my little fitbook. I hope you’re still loving your fitbook :)

  41. Emily H. says

You said say anything, right? I was trying to change the water cooler thing at work and put a new jug on…those things weigh like 40 pounds. My tiny t-rex arms weren’t up for the job; it slipped and came crashing down, I did some sort of weird hop to avoid crushing my feet, it sort of bounced and took out a potted plant. A naughty word popped out of my mouth (that rhymes with luck) right as my boss, a very proper (and religious) fellow, stepped out of his office.

  42. Laura says

I love reading your website because it helps me realize that I’m not the only one that struggles with volume eating. Plus I love your sense of humor…and I love green tea too!

  43. says

I love green tea. I keep a stash of it at my desk at work and normally drink a cup a day. I also recently tried Matcha powder for the first time… if you haven’t already, you should check it out! 1 serving= about 10c green tea!

  44. Sarah says

I love love love green tea and I think it does boost your metabolism prat least that’s what I tell myself :)

  45. Marie says

I’d love to try this tea. I try & drink about 2 cups of regular green tea a day, from a huge stash I get from Costco. ;) Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

  46. Jen says

I’d love to try these. I’ve been working on kicking the soda habit and am always looking for a good replacement

  47. says

I could not help but notice the bottled green tea actually looks like it could be green tea. I’ve noticed the tea in many bottled teas brands in the supermarket are the same color whether they are black tea, green tea, or even white tea. I am a fan of Ito En brand (and their cold processing) but willing to try something new :). Also free is good and being a winner is good!

  48. Debbie says

I could use some free tea since my cat drinks mine. I have never caught him but that is the only explanation I have for going through so many bottles.

  49. says

yum I love this! I’ve seen this brand a couple times in whole foods and it’s nice to see a brand without sugar “substitutes” like splenda in it.

  50. Chrissie says

I’d love to try this green tea! I’ve seen it on a couple of blogs and I’m super curious about it, it sounds great.

  51. Sarah says

Recently started adding green tea macha powder to my “green smoothies” It gives it such a nice flavor (1/2 tsp goes a longggg way!) and makes me feel good about getting in some antioxidants.

  52. Lisa says

That tea sounds AMAZING! I’m gearing up to start the 17 Day Diet and the Dr. who created the diet big into green tea…like with every meal! LOL!

  53. says

I love green tea as an alternative to coffee and mindless snacking. When I visited China several weeks ago, I noticed how everybody carries around a bottle filled with tea leaves that they just refill with hot water throughout a day. I think they’ve caught onto something good!

  54. Denise P. says

I’ve yet to see that brand of tea. I love HonesTea’s Honey Green Tea. I am bad about making hot green tea even though I have about 10 different flavors of the stuff at work.

  55. Rachel C says

I love green tea. At the holidays, Trader Joe’s has a decaf candy cane green tea which is my favorite. I always stock up, so I will have some all year long. :)

  56. Mary says

I like the idea of replacing coffee for tea. To me it is much more refreshing as I live in hot south florida. I will try to do the switch.

  57. says

i’m really trying to get myself into drinking tea more! i like it okay, but usually forget it exists…thus i never make it…thus i never crave it (or at least that’s my theory?) anyway, this sounds great!

  58. says

You’ll appreciate (or at least enjoy the humour/ irony) in my sister’s green tea diet. She read somewhere that green tea raises your metabolism.. So every time she’d eat a giant slab of cake, she’d have a cup of green tea with it and argue black and blue that the two balanced each other off :) I WISH it worked like that!

All the same, green tea is yummy and I’m kind of addicted right now :)
