Well, it’s probably all of the above…

But I entered the lottery for the Nike Women’s Half Marathon today!image thumb9 Nike Women’s Lottery

It’s super pricey – $150 for the half. But, if I have to pay a man to give me a necklace, then so be it you don’t want to know what I did for my engagement ring.

You have to enter the lottery for a chance to run this race and I started a group. If you want to enter under my group email me at runeatrepeat at gmail dot com and I’ll respond with the code. Note – it’s still a lottery, but entering with a group means if one person from the group is chosen ALL of the group members are chosen too! So it ups the odds wlEmoticon smile3 Nike Women’s Lottery Let me know!

You’re welcome to join my group even if you are an awkward runner like me…

The race is October 14, 2012 in San Francisco. There is a half marathon and a full marathon. I’ve heard it’s a big Team in Training race and woman basically take over SF so it’s crazy. But, I want in. Do you?

This race is so much fun! I ran the half last year and it was great, and as a college student I already know that I’m running the full this year (my first marathon!).

  2. Shah'ada says

I’m signed up because I’m still a student. I committed to the full and will be running it with my little sisters. Hope you get in!!!

  3. Sarah says

I really want in! It’s just so hard to know if I should commit the $150 because that could possibly turn into a hotel stay, travel and possible time off work…but it seems so amazing!

  4. says

So jealous you get to run this (or at least try and get in). I’ve entered a couple times in the past and never made it and this year I’ve been battling knee issues so a half marathon is not a good idea. I’ve heard it’s the coolest race. Good luck!

  5. says

OMGG! I wish I would have waited to enter so I could have joined your team!!!!! AHHHH!

BUT If we made it let’s have a sourdough bread date becasue I think I’ll end up going alone (all of my friends are non runners…who does that?).

  6. says

I am joining your team now!! I think I’ll do the half too…I forgot I am doing Chicago the weekend before. Definitely crazy to do the full, unless I were gangster like SR – which I’m not.

It is a WOMAN crazy event… but it is for women, so that’s a given. I don’t know if TNT takes it over, but they are a big part of it since it is a way AROUND the lottery. Good luck, good luck and good luck.

  8. Ida says

NWM is so fun! There is a lot of girl power going on. Last year they even had a bra exchange around mile 7! sadly they were out of my size by the time I got there. Good luck with the lotto!

Omg that is so awesome. Yes the money totally is worth it just to get the tuxedo man handing down a Tiffany’s box. Sending the good juju your way

  10. Laurel C says

I got in already because I’m a student, and I hope you get in cause I’d LOVE to see you there!!!!

I wanted to just tell you thank you. That simple. I appreciate you and your thoughts, observations, and insights. You have made me laugh. You have made me think. You are helping me change. Thank you.

*someday* That would be awesome, but the “extras” of the trip would be too much right now. I hope that you and team Run Eat Repeat get in!

  13. Denise P. says

I entered the lotto on a whim last year and got in. It is definitely a race that every woman runner should do once. I had a great time in SF, but I’m not in a hurry to run this one again. The course was so crowded and the hills were rough on my knees.

Hopefully we’ll see an entry from you in a few months saying you won the lottery.

I ran the full last year. Glad I did it, wont ever do it again. Tooooooo many people, crappy start and corrals, TNT did take over. If I ever went back ( I have family there) I would run the half. The great high way is el sucko grande. No food left for the fulls since tons ran the half. It was fun to do just to do, to experience and to enjoy. Not to PR- the organization was the worst I have ever seen. Plus my fire fighter was short and uber hairy.Plus Nike charges for race buses back to start, and for darn near everything. It WAS exciting, but I do think the half is the way to go, 100%. All the fun stuff seemed to end at mile 13.

That’s an interesting perspective. I live in SF and have never gotten through the lottery to do the half. I work in fitness, so I’ve talked to some of the organizers and they said that almost everyone that chooses to do the full is basically guaranteed entry, but it’s the half that is overwhelmed with demand and as such, hard to get into. But it’s a shame that they didn’t give a great experience to the full runners to help encourage registration!

      • says

Thanks Cat, I didn’t know that about the full vs. half. Although, there is no way I could do the full there (hills and a race the weekend before), I’m just going to have to cross my fingers!

This is exactly what I’ve heard from others. I’m a little reluctant after all the bad reviews, but it’s on my “wanna run” list. We’ll see how it goes…

  15. says

Signed up for the half since I’m a grad student – woot! Also ran it this year and liked it, but determined to redeem myself after this year’s terrible pacing on my part!

  16. says

I’ve had my eye on that race but I don’t think I’ll have the time or money to make a trip out to California this year, although I’ve always wanted to see SF and what better way to see it than to run it?! Maybe next year… Good luck on the lottery!

  17. Katie P says

Ooo I hope you and your team get chosen. I am not a runner, but I would come out to cheer on your team, and maybe you could do a meetup while you’re in SF??!!

  18. says

I want to run this race SO bad! This is my third year entering the lottery, hoping I’ll actually get picked this year! I love SF!

  19. says

I love your blog, you are really funny! :)
I emailed you for the code. I am doing a 1/2 on June 3rd and would love to have a fall race to look to.
    :)

  20. says

I don’t know if I spend that much on a half marathon. Especially when local races go to support local charities. But, running through San Fran would be pretty bucket list worthy-at least for this Wyominger.

  21. says

We’d love to have you in the Bay Area! Although I’m not a huge fan of NWM. Ran the full last year and it wasn’t run very well in general. It is a beautiful run though! If you get in I’ll have to spectate to get a glimpse of a blog-ebrity (<–um, that's blog-celebrity, if it wasn't obvious) :D

  22. Summer T says

I would absolutely love to do this one, too bad Im in Indiana! I had tears from laughing at that video, I had to share it withmy runner girls and try to decide who is who in our group! I am the high knees guy!
