Labor Day Parade and the Charlotte Airport

This morning I took a nice lil’ four mile walk to start the day. I wanted to run, but knew I should give my legs a rest since I did 13 and 12 the previous two days. I was tempted to hit up Dunkin Donuts for an Apple Orchard Donut (saw the sign when we went yesterday), but I ran walked out of time. If anyone has tried these please tell me they’re gross and I didn’t miss out on … [Read more...]

Sunday Funday in Florida

Hello from the sky! I’m on a plane headed back to CA, but we have a lot to catch up on! Let’s go back to Sunday… I planned to do two moderate length runs in Florida because I knew time wise and weather wise doing a 16+ miler would not be very realistic. So, I woke up early again on Sunday morning and busted out 12 miles. I felt surprisingly good considering I did 13 the day … [Read more...]

My Sweat Smells Like Fritos

Hello from Florida! Last night I spent time hanging out with Ben’s fam. I think I have a new favorite Ben’s dad made ribs for dinner… but, I’m not the biggest meat eater so I made a plate of all the sides plus some rotisserie chicken. Ben’s mom and I hit up Publix yesterday so we have a ton of delicious breads and salads and stuff! I was in charge of cutting and eating the … [Read more...]

One Windy Run

This morning I was supposed to do a 6 miler with 4 tempo miles. But, the wind was crazy! I kept my head down so my visor wouldn’t fly off and just did what I could. We’re leaving super early tomorrow morning so this is my last run in Florida for this trip. I’m going to miss the flat land!! It’s a beautiful day, but chili con carne. Breakfast was a big egg scramble with … [Read more...]

Running On Boca Grande

This morning Ben wanted to meet up with his brother and some friends for fishing on Boca Grande. It’s just 30 minutes south of his home town. I was just about to leave for a run, but he convinced me to go with him and run there. I’m so glad I agreed because it is gorgeous! Boca Grande is a small village on Gasparilla Island in southwest Florida. The guys told me this time of … [Read more...]

Fresh Ice Cream and Munchies

Today was jam packed with food based fun. This morning Ben, his sister, nephews and I went to Dakin Farm to visit the cows. I wasn’t too thrilled to be considered one of the Heifers, but I was forced to agree to this nickname as it was written on the woman’s bathroom door. Apparently, fresh ice cream is made from cows. Weird. I thought it came straight from Heaven. Ice cream … [Read more...]

I’m Like Santa Claus…

I’m like Santa Claus because I’d take cookies from strangers. I’m like Santa’s reindeer because I want to fly run around the world. I’m like Rudolph because I have a red nose head. I’m like the Three Wise Men because I’m always late. I’m like the Grinch because my heart is 2 sizes too small for my body. But, I’m the opposite of Frosty the Snow Man because I would die in … [Read more...]

John Wayne Airport to Sarasota Red Eye

Hello from Florida! It was a very long (and rough) red eye. Our seats wouldn’t recline, there was turbulence and I irritated my back trying to sleep with my head on Ben’s lap (I also probably started some rumors). We left a very empty Orange County airport last night at 9:30pm and arrived at Atlanta around 4:45am. Then, we have a 4 hour layover. I tried to sleep, but it was … [Read more...]

Back Seat Blogging

After breakfast I slathered on the sunscreen and headed down to the beach for a few last rays of sunshine. We are staying at Eagle’s Nest, a big condo building right on the beach. It’s a great location, but this is “off season” so it’s not too crowded. I think I’ve already gotten my money’s worth from my $7.00 dress. Owen (Ben’s nephew), Ben’s dad, and us The … [Read more...]

Moderation Monday and Your Thoughts Please

Hello and Happy Monday Let’s make this a great week! I really need to get back to some moderation with my eating. It’s definitely been way too indulgent all week (including last night when I just stopped gave up on taking pictures). So, instead of overdoing it for another day I’m back on track today. Hopefully, this bloated “post Thanksgiving dinner feeling” will go away … [Read more...]

Running On The Equator

I went for a run on the equator Marco Island this morning. Pretty sure it was 85 degrees with 100% humidity. I almost died. But, then I remembered we were going to a buffet for breakfast. So I dusted myself off and decided to live another day eat another big meal 6 slow miles on the equator should be celebrated with iced coffee. Ben and I took pictures in front of the … [Read more...]

Hi! Today was super fun. Ben and I went for a drive around the area to explore. We drove by a turtle crossing the road and had to stop! (Yes, I’m totally a tourist and don’t get this stuff in California.) I jumped out of the car to challenge the turtle to a race. The Tortoise and the Red Hare But, I’m so slow… she beat me The important thing is, I did my best and had fun … [Read more...]

Don’t Be Crabby, You’re At The Beach

I started today on a wild goose chase trying to find internet. By the time we got internet it was 8am and 80 degrees with 90% humidity. I scaled my run down to a 4 miler and was DRENCHED by the end. I ended up running to see the group fishing   When we got back I dug into my smoothie powder stash. I brought baggies of them separated into scoops. In ya go! Topped … [Read more...]

Too Much Food, Just Enough Fun

Ben’s sister was making veggie juice when we went over this morning so I scored a big glass of carrot/cucumber/bell pepper/celery juice! Love. Then, I canceled out all those nutrients by stealing half of Ben’s fries when we went to Wendy’s. I wasn’t really hungry, but got a side salad to keep my mouth busy. But, if not for this I would have eaten all the fries. Today we … [Read more...]

Dealing With Mean Comments

Hello! I went to bed right at 10pm last night so I could beat the heat and get a run in this morning. I ran to the beach, which is about 5 miles from Ben’s parents. When I got there I did an extra mile then called Ben to come get me. Every time we come to visit Ben’s mom tries to convince us to move here. If we could just find jobs, I don’t think we need much convincing – I … [Read more...]
