My Favorite IT Band Stretch

Happy Wednesday! I had a tempo run on the schedule today but felt really sluggish. Instead of skipping it I decided to just do my best and accept that my miles wouldn’t  be that fast. I was aiming to make them just a bit faster than usual. 6 miles – 52:40 Average Pace 8:46 Mile 1: 9:20 Mile 2: 8:35 Mile 3: 8:46 Mile 4: 8:19 (back down hill) Mile 5: 8:34 … [Read more...]

8 Miles and Double Pumpkin

Happy Tuesday from Monica and Vegas! This morning I had 8 miles on my training plan. I woke up hungry and my legs felt very tired so I considered cutting it back to 7. I stalled a bit with some iced coffee and toast. Until I didn’t have any more time to waste and got out the door. At the 3.5 mile mark I decided I should really try and stick to the program today since I’m … [Read more...]

Summer Chafing is Back

Hello and Happy Tuesday! This morning I realized I switched my training days on accident and should have 8 miles on the agenda today (tomorrow is 4 and Zumba). So, I took along my water bottle and attempted 8 hot miles… Unfortunately, I only made it 7.77 and they were super slow. Average pace was 9:22 / mile. I didn’t even realize how sweaty I was until I got back and scared … [Read more...]

Slow Sweaty Six Miles

Hello! I had 7 miles on my schedule today and a 7am appointment. But, when my alarm went off at 5am I convinced myself to do it right after (since it was just one session). Before I left for work I had some cereal and hoped it wouldn’t give me the poops on my run. After my appointment I headed home to run – do not pass Go do not collect $200. But, I made the mistake of … [Read more...]

Fourth of July Races

Hello and Happy Wednesday! Run: 6 miles. I felt slow and sluggish the whole time What gives? Before I went for my run I wrote out my day. It’s crazy! I still haven’t gotten into the groove of balancing my new life with the blog. Working on it… In addition to work, blogging and other writing I also have to wash Vegas clothes… At least I have Waffle Wednesday to make me … [Read more...]

Dealing With Mean Comments

Hello! I went to bed right at 10pm last night so I could beat the heat and get a run in this morning. I ran to the beach, which is about 5 miles from Ben’s parents. When I got there I did an extra mile then called Ben to come get me. Every time we come to visit Ben’s mom tries to convince us to move here. If we could just find jobs, I don’t think we need much convincing – I … [Read more...]

8 Mile Run and Eating Eggs

This post is sponsored by Eggland’s Best. Hello! Ben and I made a detour to Taco Bell last night on the way home from the airport. I really should have abstained but my willpower was already asleep (like the rest of me should have been)! But, Taco Bell apparently makes for great fuel because I felt really great on my run today! I ran 8 miles in 1:10:28 with music and a smile … [Read more...]

Newport Back Bay Loop Run

Today I went for a late morning run in Orange County. I’ve heard great things about the Newport Back Bay Loop and have only run to the loop, but not all the way around it. Bobbi lives an hour and a half inland, but was heading to the OC for some fun today. We decided to meet up and try the Back Bay Loop in Newport for a run and some catch up time! Running the entire loop is … [Read more...]

Running Into Ben

This morning I set out on my run like any other weekday morning… but on the way back ran into this guy! No, I didn’t run away from this man with unruly hair and wild look in his eye. He happens to be that guy I married… I ended up running 4 miles and walk/running 1 back home with him Ben is still training for his first 5K. He’s getting very close to being ready!!! After we … [Read more...]

8.5 Hours Later

I feel so much better after 8 1/2 hours of sleep! I woke up this morning and jumped out of bed. I was going to skip a run today in favor of some strength training, but I had way too much energy. I ended up running 4.5 miles and felt great the whole time! It must have been all that cereal carb-loading I did in the afternoon. Oops! Note: I wasn’t in love with the Love Crunch … [Read more...]

Black Running Shirt

I have to make myself buy a color other than white running shirts. They’re my all time favorite! So, I have yellow, pink and a few other light colors that have really grown on me. I even bought an orange one for marathon training! As long as they’re light and bright, I like colorful shirts now. But today I tried a big black one. Yes, that is what she said. The Las Vegas Half … [Read more...]

My Fastest Mile

I made the thickest smoothie post run this morning. In the mix: protein powder, ice, spinach, chia seeds, water. It made two glasses, which I enjoyed both of with a whole wheat Indian flat bread on the side. The flat bread from TJ’s is thick and chewy in the best way. Half almond butter/pumpkin butter half pumpkin cream cheese with naner. I was still hungry after this … [Read more...]

Too Hot and Too Hilly

I really should have checked the weather report before I got dressed for my run this morning. Long sleeves were a bad call. Right Now Feels Like: 93° Run: I set off in my long sleeves for a tempo run. The goals was to do a 1 mile warm up and 1 mile cool down with 5 tempo miles in the middle. But, the hills kill me and I didn’t get faster on the miles going out. … [Read more...]

Cream of Wheat

I’ve mentioned that I cannot get myself to appreciate oatmeal lately :( But, I thought I’d give it one more try since I had the ripest banana on my counter. We all know bananas like this deserve to fulfill there destiny to be made into whipped oats… So I made oat bran. In addition to the ripe banana I added a packet of stevia and some almond milk. It was so sweet and creamy. … [Read more...]

Weekend Pancakes

Is it just me or are pancakes a weekend thing? While on my run I had one thing on my mind PANCAKES! I considered going out to eat for breakfast, but decided I make a mean p’cake at home. Plus – at home you can add almond butter!!! In the mix: oatmeal, cottage cheese, egg beaters, baking soda, almond milk, cinnamon, stevia. Whirl in blender and cook! I also added a whole … [Read more...]
