10 Day Marathon Countdown

23 Jan

I only have 10 days until my First Full Mary (!) and I thought I would share my thoughts and experiences as a countdown.

Lesson 10 – You will make plans around your runs

I have turned down dinners out, movies and parties because I had to get up early the next day to run. I have planned road trips around my long runs. When that is not possible I rearrange my running schedule to make sure I get a long run in (I was not very successful at this when I went to Florida). I always have it in the back of my head that Saturday requires an early start and hours of running.

I do my long runs on Saturdays and it’s something that I always think about when people ask about my weekend plans. Even when I don’t say it, my first thought is “Long Run Saturday” everything else is just icing…

THIS IS YOUR YEAR.

Love this! I totally agree. I always tell people that the hardest part of training for a marathon isn’t the running, it’s changing your schedule to make it a priority.

Good luck for your marathon in 10 days! So exciting!
