Pain in my foot:
As soon as I stepped out of bed this morning my left foot cramped up. This happens from time to time and usually it just goes away. I don’t know if I just step on it wrong or what, but it’s happened before.
I walked around the house getting ready to set out for my long run and hoped the cramp would go away. Well, it didn’t. Not running was not an option since:
– I am 50 days from the race
– Only have about 4 more long runs to go. (You have to scale back long runs at least 2 weeks before so I don’t have that much time to get those very important long training runs in!)
– I had a rest day the day before which sets me up for a good long run
– We have plans tomorrow and I can’t do a long run then
I was supposed to do 18 miles today. I went out and basically just ignored my foot pain. But, it was not going away. At about mile 10 I walked a bit to eat half a Clif bar and drink water. I don’t know if it was psychological or what, but from then on I was talking myself out of running. I ran/walked for another 5 miles and then called the BF to come pick me up 🙁
Maybe it was for the best that I stopped because the pain did not go away even when I got off my foot. It was throbbing and aching even when I sat down in the car. It’s been about 4 hours since then and it still hurts! I don’t know if running was a good idea, but I really thought it was just a cramp.
It is a pain down the outside of my left foot – does this sound familiar to anyone?
