Run Eat Repeat

What Every Runner Should Have At All Times

Running

FacebookTweetPin
10 Sep

Hello! How’s it going? This morning I woke up before my alarm and headed out for a run at my favorite spot. I’ve decided to start waking up earlier to run before the sun because I don’t want to get skin cancer or turn into one giant freckle. Those who are noticing signs and symptoms of skin cancer should visit a doctor immediately to get a proper diagnosis and learn about melanoma cancer treatment options.

sunburn

(Note: I don’t mind a little freckles on my nose or shoulders, I just don’t want a brazillion of them.)

You can see them a little bit here, but most of the time I’m not doing these extreme close-ups. This was on accident. Trust.

*Fun fact: Freckles glow in the dark.

*While it is fun, it’s not really a fact.

Every runner should have with them at all times:

shoes for an impromptu run, road ID, water, sunblock and a banana.

is that a banana in your purse (600x800)

Or at least that’s what I had with me today.

Let’s do this!

run before the sun (600x800)

And then I almost died.

very cool red head

Luckily, I had God on my side and I missed getting hit by a truck by about two feet! It was crazy. Some guy in a massive pickup was turning left right into me and I didn’t even realize until I heard his brakes screech!

This is a reminder to pay attention to stuff going on around you. I was totally in my head movies and didn’t realize those were potentially my last moments on earth. I mean, I didn’t even get to eat a donut for my last mea!!!

The only thing that’s dead today is my Garmin. It lasted the whole run and then died after. So, that’s another win for the day!

workout wed (600x800)

Randomly though, my phone refuses to stay locked during runs any more. It keeps turning on and doing stuff while it’s bouncing around in my spibelt. Check out this text that I actually sent my friend Katie!

Not the only words that actually came out are Payment and pimp. Where’s my payment?! – Pimp. Thanks phone.

text to katie (450x800)

I’m ignoring the word phlegm on here because it doesn’t fit in with my joke.

Anyway.

I had a very good, sweaty run.

just run 10 (600x800)

Then, I got a smoothie since I’m trying to turn over an even healthier bay leaf and be super healthy and happy and better overall because… life is too short to be less than awesome. Treat yo self.

Sunscreen – anyone have any good recommendations for one that won’t melt off your face and blind you? I sweat like crazy and headband only soaks up the hair sweat, not the face sweat…..

Haha! What a message! The word Quit is also in that text. Perhaps you’re quitting because you’ve received no payment from your pimp?… Subliminal messages!

My phone won’t stop unlocking either! Last weekend while running, it unlocked and facetimed my mom. I didn’t know what was going on until I heard it from my running belt! Worst part was she wasn’t even concerned by the random FaceTime attempt. I told her I could’ve been locked in a trunk and calling her for help. I’m not dramatic at all 🙂

Today’s workout was a four mile run around my neighborhood.

I’m always terrified of getting hit by a car when I’m running. I’ve noticed too few drivers actually come to a full stop for stop signs and/or people in crosswalks. I’ve almost been hit in full daylight by drivers who decided to speed through a stop sign or run a red light or are simply distracted, so I try to be hyper aware of my surroundings at all times.

First off – totally random, but your eyelashes are gorgeous lol! I have eyelash envy – is that weird?!

I’ve also been trying to be a little healthier and loading my smoothies with spinach. The color is so off-putting, but I’m convinced the spinach somehow cancels out the Reese’s pieces I ate for lunch…

Today was a strength training leg day for me. Lots of squats, lunges, squats, and more squats. Always a good time!

My workout today has been mostly digesting cake, curry and a full English breakfast (not in that order). It’s my husband’s birthday and we also went for a six miler around a forest nearby.

I had a close call too with a left turning vehicle. I felt the heat from his exhaust on my leg. It was close. He blew through a red light.

Love that you are conscious of skin cancer prevention. My hubby died of melanoma 15 years ago and i’m always harping on people to wear their sunblock. I wish i didn’t sweat so much. My SPF 70 is useless when it’s melting off my face.

I had a rest day today. Tomorrow I’ll be running twice. training for Ragnar Napa. I’m running 6 legs total (approximately every 5 hours) so I’m getting myself used to the multiple runs in one 24-hour period.

Today, I will be teaching Les Mills BODYATTACK, a 55-minute sports cardio class, and as the instructor I do the whole thing in front of the class. I did some stretching and foam rolling on my own and will do more after class. There’s a lot of running in BODYATTACK too, so that’s where I get all my cardio.

I never leave the house without a banana. Who knows when you’ll have to distract a giant gorilla! My phone has started unlocking itself and acting independent too! It took 74 pictures of the inside of my pocket a few weeks ago during a run. Yesterday it called my boss while I was biking home.

My workout for the day was hella- hellish hill repeats.

I hope you’re doing well after your bummer news yesterday! Keep kicking ass- you’re awesome!

Today I just did the elliptical. My legs are still sore from my half on Sunday. That is exactly what I get for not training properly!

I am just proud that i did it today…. 🙂

I’m heading to the gym after work for W2 D2 of the 10k trainer by Zen Labs. It’s like C25k, but goes from couch to 10k. I’m going to become a runner this year, if it kills me (hopefully it doesn’t!).

Whoa! Scary!! So glad you’re OK! I have noticed that most drivers don’t pay a damn bit of attention around here so I am always on high alert. It makes for an exhausting run, since I am constantly checking around myself, but I am always glad I did when I have a near miss like that. Also, I love to smack the back of the car when someone pulls out into a crosswalk without looking or almost turns into me like that. Maybe that makes me a run-jerk but hey- it gets their attention! My hope is that my little act of runner aggression will get them to pay attention the next time so they don’t hit someone who isn’t paying attention. Keep an eye out, and good call with the Road ID!

AH that’s scary- glad you are ok! I am so paranoid about cars. I always assume they aren’t looking and will do idiotic things… I figure it’s better to be overcautious rather than squashed.

Yeah, squashed is bad. I usually try to pay attention too – especially because I feel like running in the morning everyone is rushing to work and still asleep!

OMG – thank goodness you are okay. I am always worried about the trucks and cars when I circle the entrance of my community where the running path meets the street. I most of the time see them but wonder if they see me lol. So scary, we need to be super careful

Wow, God bless! Things could’ve gotten real ugly. It’s also why it’s important to wear retro reflectors early morning and late at night so cars can see you.
