Hello! Today I’m working with Danskin Now to highlight some of their “Fit for everything” clothes. I really have worn their stuff for everything! From the airport to running a race to strength training at home to going for coffee – there are tons of different options. And they’re surprisingly low cost. Boom. So, there’s no excuse to grab a few new pieces to add to your workout gear wardrobe.
Well, if you still have some excuses I’m sharing a 5 signs that you NEED new workout gear…
1. It doesn’t fit right.
Being self-conscious about a shirt that’s too tight or a drawstring waist that keeps untying is super frustrating. It takes away from being able to get lost in your workout and just enjoy it! Clothes that are too tight or too loose are no bueno when you are trying to move your body and get your sweat on. If this is the case – toss them out and get workout gear that fits your body as it is today.
2. It causes chafing.
This is one of the WORST issues with running gear, but chafing can happen when you’re doing any sweaty exercise or repetitive movement. And once an area of your body has been chafed it is going to keep getting irritated if you wear similar gear and/or keep rubbing that area.
If you know a certain pair of shorts or a sport bra causes chafing – get rid of it. I know it’s hard to give away an item of clothing that’s new or cute – but just remember how much it sucks to step in the shower and feel that sting of water hitting a raw part of your skin. OUCH!
Go out and get sports bras that fit YOU well and are made for high impact exercise.
I love the Danskin Now sports bras that have a back clasp for running. And I use one a front zip sports bra for strength training.
3. It’s NOT visible in low light.
If all your running or cycling gear is dark and hard to see – keep it for the gym. Then, get some bright, reflective gear for exercising outside. No matter what time of day – you should aim to be as visible as possible to drivers and cyclists. People (yourself included) get distracted, are busy, have a lot on their mind and can ‘zone out’. Make sure you are dressed in a BRIGHT top to add a lil safety to outdoor activities.

4. It makes you self-conscious.
If you keep wearing the same capris/tank combo every single workout because it’s the only thing you feel good in … you NEED more gear.
I have running tops and shorts that make me feel extra jiggly or are just 1/4 inch too short and make me feel like there’s a huge neon sign pointing to my cellulite as I run so I never wear them. Yeah, we can tell ourselves – it doesn’t matter, you look fine, no one cares… but if you feel self-conscious in it – give it away. And get yourself a gym outfit that makes you feel good!

5. It’s old or smelly… or both.
Real talk – some of my running gear smells gross. I’ve tried washing it with vinegar. I’ve used sports detergents. This stuff should work in theory – but I think hundreds of miles and sweat and tears have really baked that stink in! Gross, but true.
If your gear smells – get rid of it. It’s hard enough to make friends without that hurdle!
Oh, and if your gear is any of the following: from 2006, holey, faded beyond belief, stained, stretched out, has armpit discolorations… get rid of it.
This is one of my faves this week… Active Cowlneck Hoodie with thumbholes.
Bonus: Danskin Now has plus size AND maternity workout gear! I spotted these maternity capris online. And they have an whole line of plus size tops and bottoms too.
Question: Are any of these signs hitting close to home for you?

Thank you for the maternity workout clothes tip! I’ve been looking for some but most of what I’ve looked at is $$$- these all look great and aren’t going to break my bank for the limited time I need them .
And, as much as I’ve been in denial…my running tops are starting to get a little too tight for comfort lately 🙂

My favourite leggings have now started chafing. Ugh… I don’t want to part with it but I suppose I really should. *cries*
