Oatmeal Challenge – Not that Challenging…

Ha, I found this picture online and thought it was perfect to kick off my oatmeal challenge.

Don’t get too excited it’s not actually that challenging actually. I am challenging myself to eat oatmeal for breakfast for the next 6 weeks. I want to start everyday on a positive and healthy note and I think when I stuff myself full of cold cereal because I am trying to get full or when I eat something not satisfying it sets a tone for the whole day. I am hoping that eating something healthy, filling and satisfying won’t leave me trying to literally fill a void for the rest of the day. I am trying to really listen to my body’s hunger cues and oatmeal doesn’t affect your blood sugar negatively, so this will help me with that. And really, it couldn’t hurt so why not?

Day one of the challenge starts tomorrow – Saturday September 20th and it goes until November 1st.

Anyways, I know a lot of you already eat oatmeal almost everyday, if not everyday so this is no big deal. But, I am hoping it will be another step in the right direction in my weight loss 🙂
Another add-on to this challenge is that I will only have dessert once a week. I am in the habit of having some kind of dessert every night and it is just that – a habit, a bad habit really. I have been trying to have fruit or something after dinner instead of light ice cream or chocolate so I know I can do it. These are really just little tweaks to my diet that I think will make a huge impact. They are small changes I know I can maintain, so I know they will be successful. I’ve already avoided dessert a couple of times this week to try out my reaction and I have been doing pretty well 🙂

Really, I should call this the oatmeal and dessert challenge! But, then I might try to eat oatmeal and dessert every morning for breakfast.

If you are not already on board with the oatmeal obsession here are 10 more reasons to eat oatmeal from Mr.Breakfast.

Last week the BF and I got frozen yogurt so that was my dessert for the week. Today I am going to the fair where there will be a lot of goodies to have. I am planning on my dessert for the week being tonight 🙂

Thats a great challenge you can add so much to a bowl of oatmeal – my favourite is mashed banana – you will never get bored of it, plus it will fill you up untill lunchtime good luck with your challenge

I really love your oatmeal challenge idea. I am the same way with breakfast – if it isn’t filling and satisfying, I feel like I have some void to fill all day long. Oatmeal is definitely a good choice for a filling breakfast. And there are so many things you can add to it so you can mix it up and not get bored! Love it. 🙂 Hope you have a great weekend!!
