One time Ben wanted to give me some advice about running. He is not a runner, but I thought whatever he had to say might be helpful since he’s super smart:)
Ben’s advice: “You never want to be the first runner of the day.”
Me: “Why?”
Ben: “Because then you’re the spider catcher.”
Well, I was the spider catcher today because I was running in the dark at 5:30am this morning! I have to change my morning running schedule because Ben and I carpool and he needs to be at work by 8am. So, I had to wake up at 5 this morning to run 5 miles. I am exhausted! So I think I deserve this:
Breakfast was oatmeal in a jar. I finally remembered not to scrape my jar of nut butter clean so I could use it for oats 🙂 But, my picture didn’t save in this draft and I can’t find it. Wtf.
About the carpooling…we left my car in CA to see if we could just live with one car. We are going to give it a couple of weeks and see how it works. So, for now I have to wake up at 5am to get in a run on weekdays. It’s probably for the best because I beat the heat, but it also means I need to get in bed by 9am (it’s a goal).

Evan, that’s brutal! Take a nap on the plane after!

I’m always the spider catcher in this morning. Congrats on the 5am-er, it’s never an easy thing to get motivated for. I’m debating right now whether to get up at 4:30 to go for a run friday before I hop on a plane.

I love running in the morning, but waking up at 5 is so hard! It’s nice to be the only one running and not having to bother with other runners or bikers

Michelle – I totally agree that it is best for getting used to early race times! Disney’s start is 5:50am!

I have to get up by 5 to get to work on time (boo DC traffic). You get used to it. It sucks having to go to bed just when the good tv shows are coming on though!

Yikes, I hate to be the spider catcher. Happens a lot to me when I take the horse out in the morning, I hate that feeling of spiderwebs across my face… (gives me the heebie-jeebies sitting at my desk).
But good for you that you got up so early! I think I rather get up super early than stay up super late (although, sometimes I get up early and then still don’t manage to go to bed early…)

Morning running is the best! I’m also in bed by 9 or 10 at the latest. I find that I’m better prepared for races because they all start so early in the morning! You get used to it quick! Have a great one!
