August Highlights and September Stuff

Hello! How was your Labor Day weekend?

Things were pretty quiet in blog-land, so I decided to try and take it easy here too.

I made some Quinoa Salad with a Citrus dressing.

And hung out at a BBQ on Sunday. There was vodka watermelon involved – that’s all I’m going to say about that.

August is long gone and I was waiting to do my highlights so here they are…

Favorite August Run, Eat and Repeat

Run:

Ah! This is a hard call because I ran two races in August – a 10k and a marathon on opposite ends of the country. They were very different experiences and I loved them both so it’s a tie.

Beach to Beacon 10k – Had a BLAST!

Santa Rosa Marathon – hard race, but good for me.

Eat:

I had the most awesome, fancy dinner in San Diego but just realized I just posted it as a silent Saturday and didn’t take any pictures of my food! I have this shot and a pic of my drink. #BloggerFail

So, my favorite eat will be my Egg Cups Recipe

Post I’d like to Repeat:

The Disneyland Tweet Up on Friday was super super fun! Hello – when do you get to ride the teacups in the middle of a run?!

September Stuff:
I have no races planned for September, but I am going out of town this weekend, spending a week in FL and my SIL’s shower is this month too!

Question: What was your August Highlight?

THIS IS YOUR YEAR.

Hmm…August didn’t turn out that great for me, health wise. A runner friend thought I was “weak” and “lacking in Chi” and suggested I take a fitness drink supplement. W.O.R.S.T T.H.I.N.G that ever happened to me; instead of “flying performance”, I ended up with labored breathing, my run paces dropped, heavy feeling, foot numbness etc. Anyway, that’s behind me and I’m looking to start September clean.

My August highlight was probably the race I ran last weekend. It was a 3NauticalMile run (3.45 miles) and I finished in 30:46 and 6th in my age group. It was an awesome race and just the comeback I needed after a crappy race in July!

August was weird. Moved across the country (again) into a bit of a unsettled situation (again) with some stressful situations going on. Buuutttt, i am now with so many of the friends that have made my life, and am prioritizing their role in my life. Being back with them is def the highlight, so thanks for the reminder to look for the highlight!

My August highlight would have to be my wife becoming an RN. After many years of school, and late nights of studying it was great seeing that it is finished and was worth it.

August was a great month. I started it off with a half marathon PR, which was awesome! My stepson turned 6 and we had a birthday party for him. Plus, my son has become so much more active and it’s so fun to see his grown and learn. I think September will be even better!

My August highlight was the TT10K inaugural run. A toughie, but a goodie! 😀

August highlight(s) were two playoff hockey wins! One with each of my adult rec league teams. Sadly both were beaten the next week in heartbreaking fashion at the very end of the games. You win some, you lose some I guess.

My August highlight was PRing by 30″ per mile at the Team Championship race on August 3rd-that was totally unexpected and, one month later, I’m still surprised!

August highlight for me was completing two half marathons since not having done one since June 1st. Neither were a PR but I was (mostly) satisfied with my finishing times.

August highlights include an 18-mile run followed by two (very painful!) bike races at the beginning of the month and Ironman Louisville at the end of the month. Too hard to pick just one!

August highlight has to be my 48 hour trip Upstate NY with my dog to the Adirondacks to a cottage along Lake Champlain. It was the most relaxing time. And I had a great run while I was up there. I also made S’mores dip.
      Simplicity at its finest….Sigh!
