Happy Tuesday!

Here are 10 things you should know about me and my life (RnR Marathon coupon code is below!):

Ten Things Tuesday about this Monican

1. I LOVE Zumba. I loved to dance and cheer when I was a kiddo. And now as an adult Zumba is a super fun way to exercise.

little monican

Well, all the Zumba classes at the gym are at night and I mentioned to the group fitness manager that I wanted one in the morning and SHE CHANGED THE SCHEDULE!!!! So, that’s where I am right now.

2. If you are too embarrassed to dance in front of people you should buy the Fitnessista’s new Solibeat dvd. It’s super fun and easy to follow. I full on got up and did the warm up when she first previewed. Now I’m digging the whole thing!!

solibeat dvd

You can buy it here.

3. I made legit Pad Thai last night.

homemade pad thai

4. I used to think I didn’t like coconut water. False.

I like good coconut water. Specifically fresh young Thai coconut water.

sipping fresh coconut water

5. I think at the end of this year I’m going to look back with very mixed emotions. It’s been epic and crazy and complicated all rolled into one. I don’t care, I love it. Like the song 😉

6. I am running the Santa to the Sea race again this year! For some reason the race group keeps using SR and my pic on their ads. I think this is hilarious for some reason. And apparently so does SaraOUAL because she tweeted me this pic:

image

You should run it too because it’s after Thanksgiving (Dec 8) and after I’ve eaten an entire pie. I ran it last year with SR (hence the pics) and had a great time. Santa to the Sea half or Relay or 5k.

7. I want to move to Ventura, CA or Thailand.

This changes on a daily basis.

grass is greener

8. I am doing a cleanse for the next two weeks. I am going through this phase where I want to cleanse everything in my life (um, throw out all my clothes) and start juicing (not steroids, regular juice hello).

This cleanse consists of horse pills and me doing that apple cider vinegar drink first thing in the morning. Eating clean (but not cray). And being smug. The smug part is vital for this to work.

9. Rock N Roll Marathon Series is offering a super awesome discount code for THREE HOURS today – 8am – 11am PST. Use code: MAKEHISTORY for $25.00 off Rock N Roll Savannah. San Antonio or Las Vegas! (discount will not work until that time)

10. Okay. I only had 9 things. But I think that’s more than enough Monican for one day anyway Smile

Question: Do you like cardio dance classes?

I cant find a good Zumba class over here :(. I took it once at my old gym but then that instructor left and (IMO) the new instructor was awful! So I tried it once at my new gym but they were teaching IN THE GYM and guys are playing basketball on the other side of the curtain. It was difficult to hear, the class was packed and well….it was awful.

I love Ventura and I’m glad I’m about 35 minutes away from there! I’m running the Santa to the Sea too and I’m so nervous. It’s my first race post baby, even though he’ll be 15 months by then. I did it 2 years ago and I love it! I have never tried zumba but I can’t dance at all so I think it’s be pretty embarrassing.

I love Zumba! I don’t think people like taking Zumba with me though because I am constantly giggling at myself. Whenever I can’t get my legs to move correctly I bust out in giggles. I might be awkward.

But, I hate sitting around, waiting for the class to start, so I usually end up heading out for a run instead 😉

And I LOVE ZUMBA TOO!! I’m a licensed instructor and teach four classes a week! I teach all ages – college, adult, and older adult – Zumba really is for anyone! It’s such a fun workout and blasts away calories without even thinking about it! Do you have a favorite song?!

LOVE the photo of you and SR 🙂 And I LOVE Zumba…I actually bought a DVD to do at home alone, but my gym has a huge studio with a DJ every Friday and apparently it is super popular…haven’t been yet, but I don’t know why??

I haven’t done a cleanse before, as I like eating solid food too much…Is there a name to this specific cleanse you are doing, or is it just your own concoction? Good luck, and I hope it will make you feel very clean!

my cousin took me to my first Zumba experience last summer – it was a blast! I was totally lost and confused the whole time, but I shook, shimmied and shaked everything I’ve got and had a blast!

I really want to do a Christmas themed run, but I can’t find anything longer than a 5K here in Denver!

I wish all the women at my yoga studio would admit to the smug part when they do their fasts and cleanses. Once you go public it’s part of the recipe!

And I’m with you on 2013. I’m resisting the urge to get both bitter and nostalgic since it’s only October, but when it comes the highs, and lows, this year probably takes the cake.

I’m feeling a little obsessed with Zumba right now and did 6 classes last week lol. So much better than hitting a workout machine and barely staying on for 20 minutes when I can shake my booty for an hour instead.
