My favorite day of the year, Thanksgiving is coming soon! #EatEatRepeat
I’m excited, but I didn’t want to wait to enjoy one of my T-day staples – green bean casserole. I don’t have a fancy version, because um, I’m not fancy. But I do use fresh green beans. That’s it.
But, I’m not going to bust out a whole turkey dinner to go along with it! So, I cooked up some ground turkey for protein power and it’s even better.
Turkey and Green Bean Casserole Recipe
Ingredients:
-
1/2 cup chopped onion
-
1 pound ground turkey
-
2 cans mushroom soup
-
4 cups fresh green beans
-
shredded cheese
-
salt, pepper, 21 seasoning salute and garlic to taste
Directions: Cook up the onion until translucent. Add turkey and cook through. Season to taste. Cut green beans in half. Combine turkey, green beans and mushroom soup in a bowl. Pour into a casserole. Top with cheese. Bake until heated through.
Enjoy!

I know this is a really old post, but the recipe was great! The only thing I changed was I used the healthier version of Campbell cream of mushroom soup, for flavor I added Mrs. Dash ( no salt version), and a splash of “Walden Farms Asian dressing and marinade, sugar free, fat free, carb free, gluten free, and cholesterol free” this stuff is like $4.95 a bottle, but worth every penny. It tastes similar to Worcestershire sauce but guilt free. I added it while ground turkey was cooking. Amazing flavor! And I did not put cheese on top. This is my husbands favorite dish. If I let him he would eat it 3 times a day. Lol. Thanks so much for sharing. Wonderful dinner. Hubby had 3rds!

I’m making this tomorrow, probably will not add the cheese on top. Will also use the Healthy Request version of soup. Sounds and looks delicious! I can’t wait to try it! Thanks for taking the time to post it 🙂

I agree with some of the ladies above – I don’t like GBC. But my husband loves it so I make it for him.

Yum – I’m picking up green beans on the way home and making this tonight! Thanks!!
What’s 21 seasoning salute? I’m guessing seasoned salt would work too?

I know this sounds really weird, but I hate green beans- do you think you could sub broccoli instead? Because the rest sounds good…

Nope you are not the only one. I will make the dish for my family, then steam a bowl of plain green beans for me (no almonds either!)

I think I need a pumpkin pie blizzard if we are talking turkey already. 😉
Any excuse is a good excuse to have a blizzard (although not that kind I have to shovel.)

Less than a month until my fave holiday! It’s totally fine to start eating Thanksgiving food early, right?
Kelly says
That looks so good. I am going to make it with tempeh and vegan cheese that I have in the fridge and I think unsweetened almond milk and some mushroom powder, because see unlike you I ate lots of meat ( no dirty connotation meant) in college and now I am trying out my vegan phase at 47. Going on 8 months…is it still a phase ?
