Coffee and a Run

Good Morning! This long holiday weekend was great 🙂 But, now my family is back in California and I must get back on track with training and healthy eating. I am off for a run. Let me be more specific — I am off for a l-o-n-g run. This is the part of marathon training I don’t like. Once my long runs get past 16 miles I don’t look forward to them at all 🙁

I think one of the reasons signing up for a marathon costs so much (this one was over $100!!) is spending all that money gives you even more reason to get your ass up and running! Well, since I am poor and have already made this fool’s investment I must be off to run!

For some pre-run fuel, I made toast with PB, handfuls of cereal and coffee such as that Single origin coffee! The shot blocks will be running with me…

I normally don’t drink coffee, but have heard it can increase endurance in runners. At this point I need all the help I can get! IMG_2874

Yesterday I did an easy 3 miler to DD to get some coffee for my fam. I always drink DD coffee because it is like crack (too bad my coffee was not half as good this morning).IMG_2863

Runner’s World has a good recipe for a recovery shake with caffeine. I don’t know if I want more caffeine after a run, but it sounds good.

Wish me luck that the coffee doesn’t give me the bubble guts on my run…

Heard on a Jillian Michaels podcast that caffeine from coffee and pop doesn’t do the trick to help you with a workout and you have to get it from a caffeine pill. Don’t know how true that is, but I just thought I would pass it on. 😀

I drink coffee before and after a run. I don’t think it makes a difference really. It’s all mental. Whatever gets you out there is what will work for you.
