Hello! How’s it going? Ever since I discovered Serial last year I am all about listening to podcasts while running or walking. Listening to Serial (season 1) opened up a whole new world for me – seriously. Let’s talk about what I’m listening to this week AND finally finished the OJ documentary…
I got a late start to run yesterday so I had to cut it early. So this morning I tried to get up and out before it got too hot. I did 10 miles while listening to my latest podcast obsession = Undisclosed Season 2.
I only discovered podcasts last year when EVERYONE was listening to Serial Season 1. I was a little late to the party and listened to most of the episodes during my Alaskan Cruise.
Once it was over I discovered Undisclosed – the podcast about the case that dug into it even more. But that wasn’t enough to fill my time so I also started listening to ‘Crime Writers on’ and ‘This is Criminal’ and eventually got Audible to listen to audiobooks.
I think I prefer podcasts to audiobooks for running, but I’ve listened to both a lot over the past year. The new season of Undisclosed is about another potential wrongful conviction case. Are you listening to it?
In food news my friend got Blue Apron and has been raving about it! And I don’t remember how it came up but one time my waxer lady and I talked about it and she is going to try it too. I love when my peeps are happy with something I shared on the blog!
In other happy discoveries…
I am kinda in love with these new Goody Ouchless rubberbands that are thick and ribbon-like. Usually when I want a rubberband I have to dig through the bottomless pit also known as my purse for 22 minutes before I can find one. Or when I wear it on my wrist it cuts off all my circulation. Since these are wider they don’t kill my wrist. And they come in cute colors and designs so it’s kinda sorta like an accessory (or at least doesn’t look as tragic as sporting an old rubberband).
Head’s up, they don’t hold as tight as some of my other rubberbands I use for running – they’re best for a quick messy pony tail just to get the hair off the back of your neck (it wouldn’t stay if I was running). It works perfect for the times I just want to put my hair up to cook or when it’s too hot or windy.

I love those hair dealies, but they’re pricey, so I make them myself. You can buy the elastic ribbon for cheap.

I’m addicted to Podcasts while I run too! My favorites: Heather Durbow’s World and BitchSesh: A Real Housewives Breakdown. (The second is HILARIOUS.) I know you’re a Bravo lover so thought you might enjoy as much as I do! 😉

I haven’t tried either of those. Thanks!

I have a love-hate relationship with those hair ties. They are definitely better for my hair which is good because it dies so easily BUT they stretch out really fast and I feel like that makes them kind of useless. Especially since they’re more expensive for whatever reason…

Agree – those hair ties are super cute! I picked some up on clearance from Old Navy and, you’re right, they don’t hold as well as other bands. Super cute tho!

Please tell where you got the tie waist dress in the ponytail pic!! I ‘ve been looking for something like it… came close with a linen GAP dress but the top half was so completely sheer.

Costco 🙂 I’m not fancy.

I listen to music while running, but listen to podcasts while doing chores and driving etc. I love me some Snap Judgment, Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, RadioLab, Freakonomics Radio and Friday Night Comedy from BBC. I listen to others too, but more geeky and techie related like Hello Internet and Cortex by CGP Grey. It’s my Nerdvana….

Wait. I didn’t realize that Undisclosed was taking on another case!
I love This American Life, The Read, and Psychobabble with Tyler Oakley.

I definitely listened to the first season of Serial. The second season didn’t really keep my interest. I think I listened to about 3 of those.
I have been listening to Happier, TED Radio Hour, My Favorite Murder and Modern Love. My podcast interests are all over the place.

I love TED Radio Hour!!!

I haven’t listened to that one yet! Thanks for the rec. I love podcasts because I feel like I’m learning something even when I’m doing the most boring tasks.. Like laundry. Blah. I actually just posted some of my favorite podcast episodes within some of my fave series last week! Check em here for some new material

I am addicted to podcasts I love the Nerdist and Rich Roll’s. I did really love Serial, but I am honestly a little apprehensive to listen to Undisclosed. I got so emotional invested in the story… It drove me crazy that there was no real conclusion.

I’ve never listened to any podcasts before- what exactly is this? I have to check it out.
I listen to music when I run, but throughout the run, I notice that I’m not even listening to the music- it’s on but I’m not really “listening” to it.
The rubber band looks like cute bracelets but doesn’t rubber hurt when you take it off your hair?

Podcasts are a little like talk radio- except not bounded by radio formatting. So creators can be way more innovative and go really deep on a subject! They are super fun for storytelling and long form interviews. Plus they are free and you can be very specific your selected listening material.
A two-hour interview with Dean Karnazes just about his diet- It exists and I totally listen to the whole thing!!

I haven’t heard of Undisclosed! I loved Serial Season 1, so I’ll have to give that a try.
I always listen to podcasts when I run. I’ve taken to listening to running podcasts lately. I am beginning running again after 6 months off, and it’s nice to hear other runners talk about their races (both triumphs and challenges), it helps keep me out of my own head. My favorite at the moment is the Embrace Running Podcast.
