Running· What Runners Eat

Hello! How’s it going? I spent yesterday catching up on email and a few projects so I was MIA from RER for a bit. I felt productive though, so that was good!

Someone else was not-so-productive…

I guess I ate sushi at some point yesterday. Who needs a good memory when you have a camera phone?!

This morning I woke up feeling ready to run. I usually take 3 days or so off after a full marathon, but I didn’t run RnRSD hard so I felt like I wanted to knock out a few. Do was works for YOU.

run after marathon

Before I ran I had some AB and half a Suja.

Then, I came back and chomped on some free range organic cat. It’s good for you.

He was just an appetizer so I made a real breakfast after that.

Recently someone contacted me about Rocky Mountain Sriracha. A group out of Colorado Mesa University started this as a class project and are now turning it into a legit business. They sent me a jar of the good stuff to try.

They use a lot of organic ingredients and agave instead of sugar. But the most important thing is, it tastes good.

Question: What’s your favorite condiment/sauce this week?

Mmm free-range cat. I’m sure Vegas was happy to help you with that 😉

No way! Is it sweet? It looks like it’s in a jam jar

I want to try that sriracha!

My food has been strangely free of condiments lately. Generally some kind of hot sauce, either sriracha or cholula.

I’ve been using TJ’s Everything Seasoning grinder on… well, everything! It’s a mix of salt and seasonings and I think it’s helping me to use less salt overall.

Side note: “Nutritionally and functionally, agave syrup is similar to high-fructose corn syrup and sucrose (Karo) syrup.” -WebMD (http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/the-truth-about-agave) I’d totally prefer that they use actual sugar!

Hot sauce – but I’m a chili garlic hot sauce gal myself. I can dig on the sriracha though. 🙂

I want that sushiiiiiiiiii!!! My fave condiment right now is Dijon Mustard, which is actually super weird, because I didn’t like it until about a month ago!

    The list is endless:
    TJ’s reduced guilt guacamole
    TJ’s reduced sugar apricot preserves
    TJ’s BBQ sauce
ketchup and yellow plain mustard (sometimes mixed together)

    Wine (that’s a condiment, right?)

Have you tried TJ’s cilantro salad dressing? It’s been my go to for salad dressing and meat lately.

And here’s the point where everyone goes, OMG that chick is weird…..I don’t like any condiments or sauces. I very rarely use mustard or ketchup, absolutely despise mayo and I don’t use salad dressing. I dont like hot sauce, soy sauce or wait for it….sriracha? Hopefully, we can still be friends. 🙂

I love sriracha but try to limit my consumption due to the sodium level. That’s awesome that they created one with organic ingredients! Lately I’ve been creating my own sauces with Greek yogurt and spices or veggies. 🙂
