Happy Tuesday!
Here are 10 things you should know about me and my life (RnR Marathon coupon code is below!):
Ten Things Tuesday about this Monican
1. I LOVE Zumba. I loved to dance and cheer when I was a kiddo. And now as an adult Zumba is a super fun way to exercise.
Well, all the Zumba classes at the gym are at night and I mentioned to the group fitness manager that I wanted one in the morning and SHE CHANGED THE SCHEDULE!!!! So, that’s where I am right now.
2. If you are too embarrassed to dance in front of people you should buy the Fitnessista’s new Solibeat dvd. It’s super fun and easy to follow. I full on got up and did the warm up when she first previewed. Now I’m digging the whole thing!!
You can buy it here.
3. I made legit Pad Thai last night.
4. I used to think I didn’t like coconut water. False.
I like good coconut water. Specifically fresh young Thai coconut water.
5. I think at the end of this year I’m going to look back with very mixed emotions. It’s been epic and crazy and complicated all rolled into one. I don’t care, I love it. Like the song 😉
6. I am running the Santa to the Sea race again this year! For some reason the race group keeps using SR and my pic on their ads. I think this is hilarious for some reason. And apparently so does SaraOUAL because she tweeted me this pic:
You should run it too because it’s after Thanksgiving (Dec 8) and after I’ve eaten an entire pie. I ran it last year with SR (hence the pics) and had a great time. Santa to the Sea half or Relay or 5k.
7. I want to move to Ventura, CA or Thailand.
This changes on a daily basis.
8. I am doing a cleanse for the next two weeks. I am going through this phase where I want to cleanse everything in my life (um, throw out all my clothes) and start juicing (not steroids, regular juice hello).
This cleanse consists of horse pills and me doing that apple cider vinegar drink first thing in the morning. Eating clean (but not cray). And being smug. The smug part is vital for this to work.
9. Rock N Roll Marathon Series is offering a super awesome discount code for THREE HOURS today – 8am – 11am PST. Use code: MAKEHISTORY for $25.00 off Rock N Roll Savannah. San Antonio or Las Vegas! (discount will not work until that time)
10. Okay. I only had 9 things. But I think that’s more than enough Monican for one day anyway
Question: Do you like cardio dance classes?
yay cheerleading!!
I cant find a good Zumba class over here :(. I took it once at my old gym but then that instructor left and (IMO) the new instructor was awful! So I tried it once at my new gym but they were teaching IN THE GYM and guys are playing basketball on the other side of the curtain. It was difficult to hear, the class was packed and well….it was awful.
I love Zumba. Zumba was what first got me hooked on the fitness thing! The classes are always so fun.
Um. 8am-11pm is 15 hours. Do you know if it was 8am-11am or is it 8pm-11pm??
It was 11am. I apologize if I wrote it wrong 🙁
I love Ventura and I’m glad I’m about 35 minutes away from there! I’m running the Santa to the Sea too and I’m so nervous. It’s my first race post baby, even though he’ll be 15 months by then. I did it 2 years ago and I love it! I have never tried zumba but I can’t dance at all so I think it’s be pretty embarrassing.
I love yoga more than Zumba, but I love any exercise class (I don’t belong to a gym, so whenever I get to do one, I am so happy!)
I NEED your recipe your recipe for Pad Thai! It looks amazing, and I cannot wait to make it myself. Every recipe of your that I have tried has gotten “thumbs up” at our house, so I know this one will be a winner, too. Thanks, Monica. 🙂
I love Zumba! I don’t think people like taking Zumba with me though because I am constantly giggling at myself. Whenever I can’t get my legs to move correctly I bust out in giggles. I might be awkward.
What a cute kid picture! 🙂
Pad thai recipe plz?
I kind of hate dancing so I’ve never tried a dance fitness class but know it’d be good for me.
I love zumba; I used to take dance classes when I was a kid. Love it!
But, I hate sitting around, waiting for the class to start, so I usually end up heading out for a run instead 😉
Hahaha “being smug is the important part”. Would love to hear your thoughts on a juice cleanse, I’ve been considering doing one but haven’t taken the plunge…yet 😉
Ummm you made that pad thai? Please come over any time. Thank you!
I like to dance in my kitchen…does that count?
Totally counts 🙂
my college roomie studied abroad in chiang mai, thailand! her pictures and stories made me want to move over there, too. if you move there, can i tag along? =)
Yes 🙂
that pad thai looks YUM!!! The secret to coconut water is it has to be ICE COLD then it is delicious. Any other way it is quite gross….
LOVED Zumba when I did it. I was shocked at how sore I was. I didn’t even feel like I was working out at the time.
I love zumba. I prefer dance workouts than running.
I really do like zumba, but I ALWAYS end up getting a crazy stomach cramp because of all the twisting!
I love your cheerleader pic – too cute!
And I LOVE ZUMBA TOO!! I’m a licensed instructor and teach four classes a week! I teach all ages – college, adult, and older adult – Zumba really is for anyone! It’s such a fun workout and blasts away calories without even thinking about it! Do you have a favorite song?!
LOVE the photo of you and SR 🙂 And I LOVE Zumba…I actually bought a DVD to do at home alone, but my gym has a huge studio with a DJ every Friday and apparently it is super popular…haven’t been yet, but I don’t know why??
I haven’t done a cleanse before, as I like eating solid food too much…Is there a name to this specific cleanse you are doing, or is it just your own concoction? Good luck, and I hope it will make you feel very clean!
Oh no, it’s not a juice cleanse. I like food too much too. It’s just a bunch of weirdo pills and I’m adding the apple cider vinegar drink in the morning.
Ahhh I missed the window to use the coupon! Will you be doing other ones in the near future?!?
No it’s TODAY at that time. It hasn’t started yet 🙂
Mmm fresh coconut water is the best! And you can scoop out the young coconut meat 😛
Oh man, we did this when we were in Honduras–bought a fresh coconut from this ‘side o’ the road’ vendor, drank the water, he cracked it open then at the awesome insides…OM NOM!
my cousin took me to my first Zumba experience last summer – it was a blast! I was totally lost and confused the whole time, but I shook, shimmied and shaked everything I’ve got and had a blast!
I really want to do a Christmas themed run, but I can’t find anything longer than a 5K here in Denver!
I love cardio dance classes and by cardio dance classes I mean dancing poorly along to old Backstreet Boys songs.
I wish all the women at my yoga studio would admit to the smug part when they do their fasts and cleanses. Once you go public it’s part of the recipe!
And I’m with you on 2013. I’m resisting the urge to get both bitter and nostalgic since it’s only October, but when it comes the highs, and lows, this year probably takes the cake.
I am the must clumsy individual EVER! Zumba does not go well when I try it HAHA, but I would love to try out Gina’s DVD so I can just embarrass myself at home!
I come way to close to breaking my ankle every time I zumba, but I really like Ventura if that helps? I think it’s cute and not super expensive, super laid back 🙂
Ha! Yes, the Ventura thoughts cancel your thoughts on Zumba 😉
I’m feeling a little obsessed with Zumba right now and did 6 classes last week lol. So much better than hitting a workout machine and barely staying on for 20 minutes when I can shake my booty for an hour instead.
I am all about cleansing things out in my life – closets, cabinets, drawers, clothes, papers…I never venture though to a juice cleanse – I get too hungry….totally love dance classes, we have a class at our gym (lifetime fitness) called dance jam. You would love it!
That picture is precious!
love the cheerleader pic of you.. too cute!
Awww Thanks 🙂
I’ve never been to Zumba. I recently joined a gym that has it so I might try it out. I really like the more dancy versions of TurboKick but that’s the extent of my dance class experiences.
I love to dance, but I’ve still never taken Zumba. I think I’d probably like it, though. Good luck with your cleanse! I tried that once and lost out to espresso martinis and other bad decisions. Maybe I’ll make another attempt (but probably not)!
I tried to take Zumba on Saturday. I was amazingly horrible at it.
I miss you! 🙁
Miss you! I keep thinking about you. We need to catch up 🙂
I used to love going to Zumba class – even though I have no rhythm at all. Not at all. My gym changed the schedule and now the Zumba class in the same time as the BodyPump class. BodyPump wins 🙂
