This post brought to you by Summer of Groupon. All opinions are 100% mine.
Hey! How is summer treating you? So far mine has been pretty sweet. And hot. I’m not complaining – I LOVE hot weather over cold every day thank you, especially with the support of a trusted service like ac maintenance albany ny, ensuring my home stays cool and comfortable throughout the season.
Plus, frozen treats are basically my favorite food so summer gives me an excuse to eat them daily I know ice cream is considered the ‘go-to’ summer treat, but that’s not always how I roll.
On particularly hot summer days – only a cold sweet raspado can cool ya down and quench your thirst. And yesterday I went to the experts to get mine – Raspado Xpress in East LA. (The company has 10 locations around SoCal.) Pay attention to ac repair indianapolis in before the hottest summer days come.
I scored a Groupon for FIVE Large drinks from Raspado express. You can choose between raspados, juices or smoothies.
And since I knew I shouldn’t drink all 5 of them myself I brought along another raspado lover – my little brother!
For those of you that aren’t familiar a Raspado is basically a shaved ice (but better). They have over 20 flavors to choose from and you can combine two flavors in a large. I got strawberry and coconut, my little brother got cantaloupe and watermelon.
Note the flavors are in Spanish – my real name isn’t Coco Fresa, but I kinda wish it was!
Cheers!
I love that they have real fruit in their raspados, it’s not just syrup. They come with big straws and spoons to scoop out the fruit too.
Bonus: We had a lot of fun enjoying our icy treats. I think the best way to bond is over dessert.
Me asking if I had any fruit in my teeth – I guess that’s what lil brothers are for…
And because I love places like this I ordered a bionico (the fruit combo) and some veggies for later too!
Matt and I are already talking about trying new flavors next time we go back for the remaining 3 large drinks! The gift that keeps on giving!!
Check out Groupon to find a delicious treat near you!
Question: Have you ever had a raspado or shaved ice?
What’s your favorite dessert to bond over?
Susan says
I had never heard of until reading this post. I’m not sure I’ve ever had “shaved ice” but I’ve seen it for sale at basketball games, Disney on Ice and whatnot.
My favorite treat to bond over would be….froyo, tiramisu, cupcakes, cookies. What can I say? I’m all about bondage…I mean bonding. Hahahahahaha

Had shaved ice in Hawaii. That coco fresa looks yummy! I totally do the big “do I have food in my teeth?” smile to my husband all the time. Hope to see you in Chicago in October 🙂
Sue says
No Raspado over here but there are a few places that sell shaved ice stuff – good stuff since it’s forecasted to be hot and dry for the next 2 months.

Wow … real fruit instead of the unhealthy crap you get at most joints, I hope I can find something similar to this soon!

Reminds me of a sno-cone but with fruit added…

I’ve never tried shaved ice but I’ve heard it is sooo delicious. I usually just stick to smoothies I make at home or at Jamba Juice.

Ive never heard of a rasp ado but it sounds delicious!
Becky @ Ok, so here's the plan says
I’ve never even heard of a raspado before! It sounds delicious – but then, I love pretty much any frozen dessert.
Ice cream is my go to, I also really like berry cobbler.

Raspado’s no…shaved ice, yes! If you’re in Hawaii, 2 things, I’m coming with and Matsumoto’s Hawaiian shaved ice is where you wanna go.
Sally @ sweat out the small stuff says
I love cola or cherry flavored slurpees from 7-11! We don’t really have shaved ice so that’s my substitute. We have the most amazing creme ices though.
I would rather bond over warm apple pie a la mode. 🙂

You publish posts faster than I change my socks! How long does it take for you to whip up one post?!

Ha! It depends on the post it varies A LOT 🙂

Oh Coco Fresa, you are too funny. I’ve never had a raspada but I can eat my weight in shaved ice!

I’m pretty happy my new name is catching on…

I’ve never heard of this before! I quickly googled and sadly found zero results in Austin 🙁 booooo
runeatrepeat says
I’m surprised! I thought Austin would have a bunch considering the Hispanic population. Do you guys have the peeps who sell them from carts?

I had raspados all the time when I worked in Mexico, but not so much anymore. It’s funny you don’t see them in Phoenix at least in my next of the woods. Here’s it fro-yo everywhere.
