After my run I still wasn’t hungry from eating so much the day before 🙁 But I knew I should eat since we have a late lunch kind of Thanksgiving meal around 2pm. I had a big bowl of cereal…My mom had to go to my grandma’s to help her make the stuffing so I was running around all day cooking and setting up tables and getting everything ready. I seriously felt so busy all morning – I needed help. Luckily the BF came over early to help and I put him in charge of the cranberry sauce. Even though it is pretty easy to make just cranberries, sugar, oj and orange rind, I was very impressed. It came out great and I really appreciated having to make one less thing. I kept an eye on the turkey, but didn’t have to do anything to it, just take it out of the oven at 1:30pm (we cook it in the bag so we don’t baste it).
I made cornbread pudding and pumpkin butter cakein between organizing the tables, chairs and decorating. I also sliced the turkey. I actually insisted on slicing the turkey since I had been watching the Food Network like a stalker these last few weeks to get Turkey Day tips. The best tip I learned was how to slice the turkey. It did come out noticably better than usual. Yeah for me 🙂 I was proud.
Here is my HUGEplate of food. Like I mentioned before, my family members each have a special dish that they are in charge of so we have sooooo much good food. Each dish is delicious since it’s someone’s specialty and they’ve really perfected their recipes over the years!
From the top center clockwise: cornbread pudding, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable medley, turkey with cranberry sauce, stuffing, ham, sweet potato casserole and a roll in the middle. I ate everything and was stuffed to the point of feeling sick after I was done. I think I ate super fast too since I was hungry at that point, which made it worse. Oh yeah and I may or maynot have had a couple of drinks since that’s another one of my fam’s specialties – drinking. We had all the food set up on a big table in the kitchen so I kept passing by it all day and I did keep picking here and there. I should have just stopped since I was full. Oh well, it’s one day and now it’s over.
Here is my cousin with my dog. I think little kids with big animals are adorable. I was in some kind of food coma I guess because I didn’t take any pics of the dishes I made or my dessert. I am sure you believe me when I write that I did eat desserts – homemade pumpkin pie, lemon cooler cake, bite of b-day cake (my Nina’s b-day) and my pumpkin gooey butter cake. It was all so good, but I was so full I didn’t really enjoy it. I ate way too much on Thanksgiving this year and I do kind of feel bad about it. But, I did say previously that it is one day and you should just enjoy it and move on. So, that’s what I’m doing.
Since I didn’t take a pic of my desserts here is a pic of Matt (my little bro) with his pie. He is not happy that I am making him pose with his fork held up – maybe that explains that crazy/creepy look in his eyes.
I had a great Thanksgiving and I am truly thankful for so much. Thank you for stopping by to read my blog and read about my struggles with weight-loss and staying healthy. It is not easy for me to overcome the habits that cause me to stay heavy, but I truly appreciate the support from all my readers.
I am very lucky and I have a great life, a great family, friends, animals and future. I know sometimes I get caught up in what is wrong with me and wrong with my life. This is a self-improvement blog so I am often talking about things I am unhappy with. Overall, I am very fortunate and I do appreciate everything I have.
Have a great day 🙂
