I spotted a cute little deli for lunch – Wild Sage. But, when we went there they were out of the white pumpkin soup I spotted on the chalk board sign. Boo.
I decided to go next door to the fancy salad bar in the grocery store instead. The highlight of this meal is the Carrot Soufflé (bottom right corner). Ah-mazing. I’m considering recreating if for Thanksgiving!
I stole a bite (or two) of Ben’s chorizo empanada. It was really good!
He also got the Gaucho sandwich with lamb and chimchurri sauce.
Then, we headed to the cute little downtown area of Healdsburg.
It’s the best, not the worst wurst.
Finally, we stopped in a few wineries for tastings. Tastings are genius! I’m still trying to figure out what kind of wines I prefer so every time we do a tasting I learn more.
Despite my attempts to like more distinguished varieties, my sweet tooth is relentless and I prefer dessert wines. This Kendal Jackson Chard was the jam.
Mid-afternoon we need a snack and stopped at the Downtown Bakery and Creamery.
The lady at the counter highly recommended the Almond Tart. She said if she could only eat one thing from there forever this would be it. Yep, I can see why.
But, I’m not the biggest almond fan so I got a chocolate chip cookie and iced coffee from Flying Goat Coffee.
I’ve decided to make it my life’s work to find the world’s best chocolate chip cookie. This wasn’t it – too flat, kind of bland, not enough chips.
We drove around before dinner to enjoy the beauty.
While driving I opened up my bag of Chick Pz – a Ferry Building find.
It’s a sweet chickpea snack! Check out the ingredients –
We hit up Healdsburg Bar & Grill for dinner. Since I was denied pumpkin soup earlier I had to get it here. It is a Cream of Pumpkin soup topped with candied pumpkin seeds.
And I ordered the Cobb Salad for my entrée…
So I would have plenty of room for garlic french fries! These were SUPER garlic-y. I think they tossed them in a garlic oil because they were also super greasy. And delicious.
The waiter recommended the Peanut Butter Cup for dessert and I don’t have the ability to turn down sweets so I was nodding my head before he was done with the description.
It is a peanut butter mousse on a chocolate graham cracker crust with homemade whipped cream.
I’ll see you tomorrow

I have been told on numerous occasions that I make the best chocolate chip cookies ever. I started selling them to pay for my ballet lessons at 10 years old…I am now 29…that’s a lot of practice…Not saying I make the best ones, but I am saying that I will totally make some for you and send them your way if you want? 🙂

I actually just went to a restaurant called Wurst last week and yes it was German inspired 🙂
I tweeted you this too, but what makes a good chocolate chip cookie? I have a delicious recipe, but they are FAR from healthy

What a great day of great eats! I want to on vacation with you!
Chocolate chip cookies are my favorite and there’s a deli that was down the street from my work that made these almost inch thick, buttery, chocolate chip dense cookies that were the best I’ve ever tasted. I miss that place.

OMG I would have stabbed the waiter to get that dessert. The best chocolate chip cookie recipe I have ever found uses just a little bit of milk in the dough and includes some pb chips as well. HEAVEN.

If you are ever in NYC you MUST try a huge chocolate chip cookie from City Bakery – preferably the one in SoHo or the East Village. I’m very picky about my CCC’s and this is pretty much the main thing I miss about New York after having moved to LA. Huge choco chunks and the perfect balance of chewy and rich… Ok I’ll stop before I work myself up further.

Come to Mumba- I’ll take you to a restaurant which hands-down sell the best choc chip cookies you’ll ever lay your teeth on 😀

I don’t like mousse, but that peanut butter mousse looks amazing!
As for chocolate chip cookies… my daughter made some really good ones this weekend. She is becoming quite the baker.
Cow Chips? LOL. What a name. Not sure I’d want to eat a cookie from there.
Jamie @ snacktress says
Mm…for me, the best chocolate chip cookie is from Jacques Torres in Chelsea Market in NYC. Oh my GOODNESS. The discs of chocolate…

I think I’ve found the BEST chocolate chip cookie recipe ever! It’s from America’s Test Kitchen and it is absolutely amazing! You need to try it! I live in New York City and one of the most famous chocolate cookie’s here is at Levain Bakery. There cookies are 6 ounces each! I think they’re great, but not as good as the America’s Test Kitchen recipe!
