Have You Ever Been to a DONUT Tasting?

My Life· What Runners Eat

13 Apr

Hello! I went to a Donut Tasting today!

Well, I made up a donut tasting by buying a ‘flight’ of donuts from the new Dunkin Donuts in Orange County. But it’s totally legit because I am a food blogger (today at least, it varies day to day) and I declare this should be a thing.

Let’s start at the beginning of the donutstavaganza…

Sundays are usually my rest day from running but I like to take a little walk to shake it off a la Taylor Swift.

Please tell me when you are wearing a hoodie you don’t want to wear anymore you just let it hang onto your neck. Anyone??

dont wear it like that (600x800)

The new Dunkin is a perfect location from me…

A.)  it’s not super close so I won’t go multiple times a day

B.) but it’s only a few miles away so I don’t have to take the 405 for some  iced coffee.

This DD is in Laguna Hills so I wouldn’t really be able to run there because it’s legit hilly. I’d walk if anything.

It opened on Tuesday but the line is still pretty long! The drive-through line wrapped around the parking lot and there was line control for the people outside.

When I finally got inside I decided to go ‘all in’ and get a ‘flight of donuts’ to do it tasting style. (This isn’t something really on the menu, I made it up like most of the things I do.)

flight of donuts (600x800) its a tasting and its classy[4]

In the mix: Pink Sprinkles, Blueberry Cake, Apple Fritter, Lemon Jelly

Consensus: I still stick by what I said in my Donut Debate Vlog. They make great iced coffee, just okay donuts.

Donut Tasting! Boom.

thats how its done

Lunch! Costco sushi for the win.

And then I spent the day trying to be productive except my internet wanted to take the day off so I found myself at Starbucks to upload a post! Wifi for all!

And while I was cleaning I put a pillow on Vegas…

pillow on the cat

He’s probably still there like this right now…

Donut tasting is my favorite way to eat donuts. DD makes great ice coffee and Krispy Cream makes delicious hot donuts. My husband and I want a place that has a combination of the two. They could call it Dunkin Krispy Donuts 🙂

I live in PA with several Dunkin Donuts nearby. It’s fun to see the excitement you Californians now have.

That DD tee is cute. Nope, just realised I’ve never done a food or drink tasting. This is sad… 🙁

I’m doing a donut run this weekend and super pumped! The more donuts you eat, the more time they deduct from your overall race time. Will I even make it to the finish line?

Costco has sushi?! I must look into this.
I’m pretty sure I should set up a donut tasting asap. Life doesn’t get better than donuts.

Trail running through the Uintahs, it was really nice up there this weekend. I tried Dunkin Donuts coffee for the first time last month and I don’t know if it’s because I got mile and sugar and I usually drink black coffee but it was amazing!

Im thinking about doing a cupcake tasting after my half-marathon next Sunday. I read somewhere that you can eat 11 cupcakes after a half, challenge accepted!

Hi! In your picture of you in the parking lot, you have those black shorts on. Are those Old Navy shorts? I love the longer compression shorts you recommended because I can’t wear short shorts to run. I bought Old Navy shorts that looked longer in the front than in the back. I’m wondering, have you found those too?

I ran the Go St Louis Half Marathon! Then about 20 min later(I had to make sure I wasn’t going to be sick) I ate two slices of sausage pizza from Pie!!! So good!!! I sprinted to the finish line an idiot, that’s why I thought I may barf.

I took my daughter at 3:30 am Wednesday morning for the grand opening. It was fun, but what an early crawl…I told her “I don’t even get up this early to run races!”

Their donuts are just good, but the Munchkins are amazing! 🙂

DD is just okay for donuts. But I LOVE their coffee! Legit delish!

The best thing I did AND the best thing I ate were the same: I threw a bridal shower for my best friend. We did an afternoon tea theme, so we had scones, and shortbreads, and cucumber sandwiches, and homemade jam and biscuits… Oh, so yummy.
I have done several wine tastings- they’re so much fun! I think they’re best to do with a group of friends, as you can all laugh and talk together. 🙂

Hubby and I made some delicious cheddar ranch chicken burgers and homemade fries last night. Totally justified by my long run in the AM. I’ve done plenty of wine tastings, but a donut tasting is definitely something I’m adding to my bucket list!

I’ve never done any of the above tastings, but I do 9pm coffee tastings pretty frequently! Haha, it is definitely a lot of fun but I don’t end up going to sleep until my normal wakeup time. 😉 A donut tasting sounds pretty fab too though.

I don’t think I have done an anything tasting. That is dissapointing! My cat is just like Vegas. She is much too lazy to care if I pile stuff on her while she is sleeping!

One of the best “sweet tasting” things I’ve ever done with a group is got a box of assorted sees candies and we cut all of them in 4-6 pieces and had a taste of everything. I’ve done wine/beer flights too. 🙂

Confession: I don’t really dig donuts. They make me absolutely ill in the morning. Occasionally I’ll snag one and keep it for desert after lunch or dinner though!

hahaha, donut tasting is so smart! I agree with you about their donuts… nothing special. They’re good, but I also think grocery store donuts (that are like 3x bigger and the same price) are even better 🙂

I’ve done wine tasting many times. Both East Coast and West Coast.
I was vacationing this weekend in Baltimore and Washington DC. I had so many yummy eats.
There was the hot dog I ate at the Baltimore Oriole’s game, and then there were the crab cakes at Phillips in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor….and a late night slice of Apple Streusel Cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory….oh and ribs at Hill Country. Yeah, too many delicious eats.

Best thing I did this weekend- Ragnar So cal! And best thing I ate was probably my carb loading supper of chicken bacon mac & cheese.

A friend of mine has semi-annual wine tastings, so I get my fill of those. They usually devolve into contests for the most absurd comments on the tasting sheet. A donut tasting, though — I’d be down for that! I once dated a bartender, and every time we went to dinner at a place with a good bar, we’d do a tasting flight of some liquor: rum, tequila, vodka… my liver was much younger then….

I’ve done a few wine tastings. I pretty much end up like Randy every. single. time.

I think the only donuts that are worth it at D&D are ones that have sprinkles on them. If they’re just straight up glazed, you will be disappointed. Although, get ready for pumpkin spiced donuts in the fall – those are the only glazed I will buy.

I’m doing a wine and cupcake pairing class next week! SO EXCITED. But rewind: this weekend best thing I did:

      Go St. Louis Half Marathon!!

Best eat: finish line snackage = PB&J between 2 Graham Crackers. I was freaking out about the amazing-ness of this all day. Basically all races should have this.
