Honeymoon: Heather & Hubby in Jamaica

Hey guys- my name is Heather and I write a food blog called Heather Bakes. I was so excited when Monica asked if I would submit a guest blog about my honeymoon! Though it feels like it was so long ago (almost 5 years!!), here are some highlights:

My husband Brian and I were married on June 18, 2005. I was so busy with a new job and wedding stuff that I asked Brian to plan the whole honeymoon and surprise me. The only request? That we end up on a beach.

He was a total champ. I didn’t find out where we were headed until we arrived at the airport for our flight: Jamaica! We stayed at Sandals Montego Bay. The beach was gorgeous! Here’s our little suite- we were on the lower level, right side:

You know those couples that spend their whole vacations taking hikes, scuba diving, parasailing, etc.? Yeah, that’s not us. We drank fruity drinks, read on the beach, gazed at the sunset:

And ate:

And ate some more:

Here’s us waiting to take a boat ride… to dinner:

Oh, and we played Jenga. With wine.

Is that not how you play?

We did sign up to climb the waterfalls at Ocho Rios. After a ninety-minute bus ride, in hiking attire, we came to find out that you don’t actually walk up the outside of the falls. You climb through the middle. We ended up having to borrow cash from the bus driver to buy the mandatory aqua socks. Nice, right? This is why we stick to being beach bums.

But we had a blast! It was just what we needed after the stress of the wedding. Jamaica was lovely, the food was delicious (if only I’d been food blogging at that time- we’d have some great photos!), and we couldn’t have asked for a better honeymoon. Now, over four years later and with a baby on the way, maybe it’s time for another one??

Thanks, Monica- I hope you’re having as much fun on your honeymoon as we had on ours!

*Thank you Heather! For those of you who don’t know Heather is pregnant with their first baby! Congrats and good luck  🙂

I love that you are blogging while on honeymoon. And it was especially great to read up on other bloggers honeymoons. I’m newer to the blog world and you featured some of my favourites!
