I feel like I got a whole new world today! My oven is 98 years old and would get super super hot on the outside. Plus my dryer would heat up the whole house in a humid armpit fog. (Maybe that’s why I have no frens?)
Anyway.
I was dragged my feet buying new ones because there is never a good time to spend hundreds of dollars on new appliances if the old ones are kinda sorta working. Right?
So I finally buckled down and did hours and hours of research exploring the best, energy efficient, cost effective, 5-star reviewed oven… When looking for cheap electricity, I go for the ones that offer fixed electricity rates Alberta.
Or, I was true to my Monican-ness and just bought the cheapest one that had the features I wanted. <- Yeah, that.
I basically just needed a dryer that opens to the side (not from the top down) because of how the closet doors slide and is electric not gas. Oh, and dries my clothes.
And a Whirlpool smooth top oven in honor of Bart Simpson’s hair cut. Oh, and I figured flat tops would be easy to clean since I’m very messy.
Luckily Vegas barfed in back of the dyer just before the delivery guys came so I got to clean that up real fast too. Find reliable skid steers for sale near me to enhance efficiency on job sites.
I used to keep all my running gear in a container on the dryer and it was over flowing so I’m going through that today. I’ll share my MUST HAVE RUNNING GEAR updates soon. I feel like I’ve tried everything in the world! Twice.
Before the new appliance delivery excitement I ran… I also look for a reliable testing company to ensure that the appliance I bought is safe to use and passes the standard requirements.
and ate.
Check out my super cute new Adidas Visor. It has the tiniest bit of ruched detail that is my favorite thing. And this also comes in a peach color that rocks.
Question: Have you ever bought a new oven or dryer?
I feel like I’m officially an adult and should figure out my will next. I know I want to be cremated. Who wants custody of my cat??

No dryer required in my part of the world. We just put them out on the clothes lines outside. Guess this is one positive of living in the equator.

I love when you chime in with something like this 🙂 Can I come visit you?

I dragged my feet for three months after my microwave broke, and when I got a new one, I felt like I was in the future. It was an amazing, amazing experience. Now all of my other appliances are jealous that they’re not fancy and new.

The last 3 years of my life I don’t know what has even happened, I somehow have bought a new fridge, washer, dryer, dishwasher, HOUSE and 2 kids. I mean, had 2 kids. Or did I buy them? 🙂 and a third is on the way (special order from the store). I don’t know who let me become an adult.
Alisha @ Real Girl Running says
A few weeks ago we had to buy a new dishwasher, and that was our first big appliance spend (other than actually buying the house!). I’m thinking a new fridge and washing machine will be in our near future. It is a depressing thought.
Daisy @ Fit Wanderlust Runner says
I had to buy a new fridge and washer /dryer when when I bought my house. I felt like such a big girl making such a large purchase. 🙂

My husband and I had to buy a washer and dryer when we moved into our condo. He is all about research and gadgets, so I let him go for it. All I know is that they worked so I was happy.

This is great and useful article! Altough I would advise to aproach weight loss in more long-term way. Cause a lot of people know tons about weight loss, but few know how to do it correctly. For example, the people, who use good weight loss plans, achieve good results A LOT faster! Do a research, find good weight loss methods, like the ones here http://wp.me/p5NIsT-k or there’s plenty of other good resources on weight loss and you’ll see results much faster!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
Congrats! It may not be fun to spend money on those things, but they are both pretty important!

I had to buy an oven once 7 years ago. I had dinner in, timer on and was pregnant…so you know I was getting hangry! Timer goes off…food still cold!!! I literally made my hubs go with me right then and there to get a new one! I was not a happy prego! haha!

We had to buy a new washer and dryer when we moved into our house 7 years ago. I did the same – cheapest that had a hand wash cycle and were electric. They’ve lasted so far, so good. Replaced our stove a few years ago once it started to take 1 hour to preheat to 350, heh.

I recently purchased and installed (all by myself!!) a new gas range. Then I moved 🙁 When I moved I needed a new washer and dryer. I bought used. Because I’m cheap 🙂 I tend to do tons of research and know the subtle differences between all the best products and then ultimately buy the cheapest thing that works.
Megan says
You should give away your (non-armpit smelling) gear that you are going through. That would be nice.
Cortney says
Me and my fiance bought a new washer and dryer from hhgregg in December 2013. We had to pay to do laundry at a laundromat (we’re still apartment dwellers) and the cost of a payment plan for the new appliances was about the same as the (insanely high) cost of going to the mat!
We got pretty standard, cheap ones but they were new and I’ve loved them since. I’ve also had ancient appliances so it was a nice experience to use something with computers in it that wasn’t operated by a pedal. Okay they were never that old but it was cool. 🙂
Shannon in Tustin says
I’ve done both! had to purchase new ovens twice. 🙁
Loving that visor…was it comfy on your head? My head is super huge and they often give me headaches, is it adjustable?
runeatrepeat says
Yes, I have a really big head too. Seriously. It’s velcro on the back
Shannon in Tustin says
Yes! Thanks. 🙂

I’ll take Vegas 😉

Bri Bliss says
We bought a new washing machine a couple of years ago & spending the money on it sucked! I mean really, who wants to spend that kind of money on appliances?
lindsay says
Just bought a new dish washer…I would rather grocery shop to be honest
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties says
ugh I can’t even imagine having to buy a new dryer AND stove all at the same time. no fun at all. but at least they (hopefully) work a lot better now! 🙂
cheryl says
I need a new dryer. I have the NOISIEST dryer on the planet, but I am holding out because in about a month I am going to use this retro thing called a clothes line…
runeatrepeat says
I should have got a clothes line, but I feel like I have so many sweaty running clothes I wash…plus sheets because I’m sweaty at night.

Buying appliances is a necessary evil, but it is terrible when you have to buy two at one time! The last washer/dryer pair I purchased was off craigslist and that was an interesting adventure, but almost 3 years later I still have them and they work great!
Kaelene @ Unlocking Kiki says
I can not wait to have a new dryer in my life!
Sally @ sweat out the small stuff says
My oven is original to the house. But I have bought new washer and dryer. I needed stackable so that narrowed my options. I broke the knob on the dryer the first time I used it so its been makeshift ever since. Lol.
Losing Lindy says
I bought a new fridge when we moved in almost 8 years ago. I have a sink that needs to be installed, but I need to be home when the management company is open, and have a plumber scheduled.
I actually fixed my washer at one point, but it is really old and will need to replace both of mine because they are stacked.
