Hello! I made it to Florida. Let’s see how long I survive before I melt. But first I want to back it up and talk about my travel day yesterday real quick. I wasn’t able to get these pictures for my last post and I kinda want to share all the excitement of my gluten free travel day!
(saw this sign at the airport and thought it was interesting)
First, I flew out of Long Beach. It’s really the best airport to fly out of because it’s so easy breezy. I love flying out of Orange County or Long Beach a million times more than LAX unless it’s between that and a direct flight. Then, I go with the direct flight.
LBG is so small and cute. I kinda love it.
During my layover in Phoenix I saw this sign that reminded me of my brother (and my love for breakfast foods).
Then, I did that whole awkwardly meeting a celebrity thing when I went up to Antonio Villaraigosa and introduced myself and asked him about life. And took a selfie.
When I landed in Tampa around 10pm Ben picked me up and we grabbed some sustenance for the way home. Passion tea for me (because it’s decaf and I need to get on Eastern Time) and iced coffee for B (because he lives on the edge).
We also got these cheese snacks from Starbucks. It seemed like the best choice that late at night since I was legit hungry and wanted some protein. When we asked the barista if these were good she was like, “Well, it’s dried cheese…”
Ha! I’m pretty sure that was a negative review. But I wanted to try them anyway. I thought they were good.
This morning I set my alarm for 6am to run before it got super crazy hot in Florida. Yeah, that’s 3am to my body clock and was not happening. I ended up going out around 8am and it was RIDIC. But I did 6 miles with a couple of 800s in the middle for some speed work.
At least I am sporting my new HOKAS which make me super happy. New running shoes are the best!
And because it’s so hot and humid my arms were dripping in sweat. When I was doing the speed sections my arms flung the sweat everywhere including onto my sunglasses. This is no joke (because I’m not laughing I’m crying). It is HOT.
I went back to the house and chugged my 32 oz water in seconds. Ahhhhh so good.
Breakfast was fruit, banana & PB and egg whites.
Part of me is a little embarrassed to toot my own horn, but I’m really excited about this…
I am part of Real Simple Magazine’s A-List Blogger Network. They have a small feature on me in the August issue. I think it’s just after page 124. Anyway. I think this is super cool and I feel really lucky to be a part of it. So, I wanted to share. Thank you for reading Run Eat Repeat! I really appreciate it.

I’m in Toronto and it’s only 75 for a high today. I had to wear a jacket out this morning 🙂 The hottest it’s been all summer is 82! Nice break from KC where I moved from. Congrats on the magazine!

Sounds so good! I need to visit you 😉

Well done on the magazine feature! A-list every day. 🙂
You’re not missing anything over here in SoCal–you literally went from the frying pan into the fire. Glad you’re hanging with Ben again! More-o-dat….

I’m from Massachusetts. It’s been hot this week, but not as hot as Florida. We hit 94 yesterday and I went on a 38 mile bike ride. Trick is to keep yourself hydrated and you can handle it in the heat. Keep up the good work. Congrats on being featured in Real Simple.
Emily @ My Healthyish Life says
I go back to Tampa (I’ve been in NYC) next week and I’m nervous/dreading getting readjusted to the heat. I know it’s brutal! And yay for GF travel….right up my alley 🙂
Mary says
Tampa, FL. You’re absolutely correct in your observation. It is HOTTTT out! I left around 7:45 for Orangetheory Fitness this morning and was slapped in the face with humidity. I have had to cut my miles way back because it’s so warm. my mile time has also slowed down a full minute (kinda frustrating). Apparently this is only the beginning of summer (i’m an upstate NY native) so I have yet to experience the “real heat” like my husband says -_-

Hi!! It was SO hot yesterday here in dc that my dog walking clients (two with small dogs in our building) asked me not to take the dogs out! Today it’s about 10 degrees less hot (100 yesterday I think, 90 today) and feels more humid if that’s even possible?!
Chelsea @ Chelsea Eats Treats says
Congrats on Real Simple!! That is so cool. It is H-O-T in DC today! Ughhhh the humidity.

HUGE congrats on being in real simple! That is amazing! 🙂 I’m in VA and it is supaaaaa hot today. I just walked a mile to the library and I’m a sweaty mess. Sorry other library patrons….

I’m in Lafayette, LA which is about an hour from the coast. It’s raining right now, so temps are in the 80s, which is great because lately we’ve had afternoon heat indexes over 100! But the humidity is the worst! I feel you on the sweaty sunglasses.
Jenny says
In St. Pete FL. You HAVE to run before 7am … and if you don’t hydrate enough you’ll feel it all day.

Dallas, Texas and it is SO HOT! My hubs and I just got done running sprints (well… more like I just chase him), and it’s 95 degrees and the heat index is 99. Not horrible, and there was water and shade along our route – but STILL. I’m over this heat. Congrats on your magazine feature – that is AWESOME!!
Emily says
Ooh, I bet that’s pretty cool to look in a magazine and see your face. :)) And those crackers from Starbucks look strangely good to me too.
Sarah @ Live Run Eat says
Congrats on the magazine feature! I’ve been following your blog for a bit now and really love it!
I’m in KC, which has been extremely humid lately, with temps in the mid-90’s, but today we are getting a break. It was only 75 degrees for my morning run – heavenly!
The silent assassin says
I was just there…are you stalking me? Say yes and I’ll stop so you can catch up 😉 . Enjoy the humidity!
Cate says
Boston, and we are on day three of 90+ degrees. I think we will get some cooler air tomorrow, which makes me happy. I’d much rather have the windows wide open than the AC blasting. Have fun in FL!
Cate says
And congrats on the magazine feature!

I just left the Englewood/Venice area on Sunday, I’m in Clearwater now. Same weather, same humidity, same heat….basically the same hell. But the beach is nice, so there’s that.
Stephanie says
In Houston right now it’s 94 with feels like 105….. Weekdays have to run at 5am and weekend 6/7am… So hot! Yesterday I ran at 6:30 it still felt like 99….
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job says
I’m in Chicago and it’s sunny and in the high 70s. Pretty perfect for me, although the race I ran over the weekend had heat advisories and sucked big time. Congrats on your feature!
Also, I love the color of those shoes. I’m FINALLY seeing more blues and greens after being accosted with neon pinks and oranges for so long!
runeatrepeat says
I usually love PINK PINK shoes, but yeah I was happy when I saw these. Good to change it up!
Andi Holmgreen says
South Texas and its technically 92 with heat index over 100 and 60% humidity! I love running outside but not with this heat and humidity. By the time I get out of work it is just not happening. Since summer hit I have been running early morning before work on the treadmill and I save my morning runs for the weekend when I don’t have to be at work.
runeatrepeat says
That is HOT! Be careful when running outside 🙂
