Hello! How’s it going? This morning I was up bright and early for some long running miles. I got a little crazy with the sunblock but it’s probably for the best…
While I was getting ready Vegas was about to jump on the hamper and I grabbed my phone for a picture because it was open (which it never is) and I thought he was going to fall in. That is cat comedy gold!
Nope. He caught himself on the edge. Which was smart. But then he decided to gingerly step into the hamper and relax. While moving around he knocked the lid down.
He’s probably still in there wondering what the heck is going on! That’s why he gets for barfing in the middle of the night all the time and waking up at 4am for me to refill his food dish even though it still has food. I hope he understands my justification for leaving him in there and doesn’t do those things again.
Then, I had to pick out a new pair of ProCompression socks. I love the colors!!!
The run was rough because I was having some stomach issues. I felt like I had to burp for some reason? But I couldn’t burp I just felt like I had a bubble in my chest. Does this make any sense?
Anyway. I walked whenever I felt like I needed to burp. Wait. Why am I sharing this? I don’t know. It was just a weird thing that never happened to me when I was running before.
Since it was a long run in hot weather I refilled my water bottle twice. I still ran out of water… luckily I came upon a huge booth covered in signs that said “Free Drinks”.
I’m not making this up.
There were people around a random CVS parking lot with signs that said “Free Drinks” to encourage people to come by the booth set up behind them.
I’ve always been taught to politely accept candy from strangers (and help men in vans find their lost puppies) so I figured it was legit and walked up to the booth for some free liquids.
I scored a water and then got into a conversation with one of the booth workers and that’s when I realized I had just exchanged my soul for a bottle of water.
Okay, technically the booth was organized by a new local church that is trying to get people to come to one of their church services. And technically my soul will happily be returned to Heaven when I’m done here on this lil ol’ planet so the joke’s on them. Boom. My soul is already spoken for by Jesus. I can’t wait to trade this water for wine up there…
Then, I got home and ate all the watermelon. Seriously. It’s all gone now. All of it.

In other Monican news I had a doctor appointment yesterday. It was just the usual physical plus blood work to check on my thyroid. I have had hypothyroid for years now and am on medication for it. I’ve tried different supplements and diet changes to help how I feel and my levels. It’s doing okay, but I want to keep track of it and continue to work on my diet and natural supplements to help it.
And then I drank wine. That helps with hypothyroid I think? Or at least it helps with stress, which is super bad for you. It’s science.
Question: Would you stop at a random booth that said “Free Drinks”?
I did.
Tracey Coleman says
If it was a water/drink booth being run by a church, the Boy Scouts or a community agency, yes I would stop. If it was a group I didn’t recognize, the water would have to be unopened for me to take it. Wine is good for the soul. Glad Jesus is expecting you.
Victoria @ Minus Thirty Three says
I would 100% stop for a booth that said ‘Free Drinks’.

I run along the beach in Ventura and during the summer there are always a million races. Last year I got caught doing a normal run during the middle of a race in progress! Someone offered me twizzlers but I kindly refused. I felt guilty like racers should enjoy those twizzlers not me the race impostor. But it IS always more fun to run with company 🙂

19 miles in the heat?? I’d get in the white van for free water!
Lea says
Haha – you funny girl 🙂 Thanks for the laughs!

I think you would have to question yourself if you didn’t accept Free Drinks! That giant container of watermelon is really making me want some right now. Looks so refreshing.

SOO MANY COMMENTS FOR THIS POST…..
OK…your painted toes look great!
I would have accepted the water ~ and I am pretty sure you checked to see that the bottle had NOT been opened. 😉
We have 2 cats and there is no way in HE$$ I would have let one of them sleep in my clothes hamper….ours too throw up way too much….I can just visual THAT mess inside there if that were to happen.
and finally…..During your blood tests have you ever fainted or found you have low platelets???
My hubby and daughters are orange heads too. The girls have randomly fainted before and my oldest and my husband have blood disorders. The other day my orange head niece fainted and got pretty sick after a shot. The nurse declared that orange heads have a tendency to have blood issues, fainting issues, etc….what do you think?? I had never heard this through all of our doctoring.
(You are kind of like an expert right?? haha!)

I had never heard that about redheads, but my daughter is a ginger, & she almost passed out when getting her ears pierced! Same experience every time she gets a shot in the dr’s office. I have to make sure she lies down for it, & we have to sit for a few min. to make sure she’s ok. Too weird!
runeatrepeat says
I’ve read and heard a few times that redheads are more sensitive to pain (and temperature). That might have something to do with it?

I kind of like randomly getting caught up and listening to people like this…kind of like the Jehovah Witnesses that come to the door though I never answer. I am fascinated by anyone who is so passionate about something.
Anyhoo…glad the weird burp thing didn’t happen AFTER the water. Then I’d be a bit worried!

I don’t know if I would stop at a random booth unless they have unopened bottled water!
I go crazy with sunblock too!!!!! I actually turn white from it. Ha! But even then, I’m getting darker….

Would love to see more posts about hypothyroidism and running. What supplements you’ve tried, anti-infammatory eating, etc. I also am hypothyroid and am struggling with weight gain and want to use better eating and running to stay healthy! Thyroid issues suck!

Ummm… no.
I was raised by a Catholic Korean mom — in Detroit. Needless to say, I don’t trust anyone I haven’t known for half a decade or more.
It’s the truth — They could’ve laced the water with PCP or something! Just saying…
runeatrepeat says
Free PCP! I would have been down with that.
MomOf2 says
I’m hypothyroid too! At least I was – severely. Not that this is a yay or anything. I’m curious how you manage it and how it affects running.
runeatrepeat says
I’m not severely and don’t have Hashimotos – do you? I feel like everyone I find with hypothyroid have it.
Sally @ sweat out the small stuff says
Yes but I hate when people try and force their religious stuff on you. I might have returned the water and bolted but I guess after 19 miles I might have sucked it up just to get the liquid.
