Run Eat Repeat

If Oprah can…

I read that Oprah is doing a 21-Day Cleanse in which she is eliminating caffeine, sugar, alcohol, gluten and animal products from her diet. She decided to do this after reading Quantum Wellness by Kathy Freston. The author suggests doing this to become a more conscious eater.

So, I figured if Oprah can do it, so can I. I read the blog she is keeping while doing this and was a little disappointed. I feel like it’s less of a challenge for her because she has a personal chef making delicious and fancy animal free meals. Or she can just eat out at vegan restaurants when ever she wants. Yeah, if I had those resources this would be a cake walk – or should I say vegan cake walk.

I have decided to eliminate caffeine, artificial sugar, alcohol and animal products for the next 21 days. The gluten and regular sugar would be too hard/expensive/time consuming right now. If, after the 21 days, I want to try it again with gluten and sugar eliminated I will. It’s a blurry line too because I consider things like maple sugar and agave nectar “sugar” and Oprah is eating those things in the blog so, I don’t know if I understand the sugar part of the cleanse.

Today is day 1. I decided this last night, so I have been good so far today. I need to stock up on my vegan essentials though.

Yeah, it’s totally cheap that she has a private chef flying in her meals and all that.
