I mentioned last week that I just finished a series of laser hair removal. I wanted to share my results and thoughts because I have gotten very different results from all the other reviews I’ve read online, especially regarding my experience with laser hair removal tampa, which exceeded my expectations. The skilled professionals and state-of-the-art technology used in Tampa made the process smooth and effective, leaving me thrilled with my long-lasting results. And if you’re considering a more permanent solution to laser hair removal in Toronto, click here to learn more about the benefits by Moonlight Laser.
I bought a series of 6 treatments on 2 areas from Groupon. I went to a very well reviewed and respectable medspa. I was very happy with the service and staff. They also offer anti-aging injectables for a fresher and younger look. I don’t think my results have anything to do with the location. My two areas for laser hair removal treatment were under arms and bikini area. Ciao Bella Aesthetics has plenty of good reviews from their regular customers.
The procedure: You go in and have the option to use numbing cream. The first time I did it I didn’t use the numbing cream and was fine. The second time it hurt so I got it for treatment sessions # 3, 4 and 5.
If you choose the numbing cream you have to be there a half an hour early to let it set.
For the actual procedure you wear protective glasses. The nurse moves the laser wand in a line across the treatment area. You might feel a small snap or burn. At first it was very mild for me. But the last treatment (due to a mix up with my appt time) I didn’t do the numbing cream and IT HURT SOOOO BAD. My eyes were watering from the pain. It felt like I was being slowly burned across my skin.
You get naked or at least remove clothing from the areas you are getting treatment. My place had a paper skirt to wear and they lower the chair so you’re laying down.
This is the magic laser machine:
The hair removal process: You get treatment every 4-6 weeks or so because that is the hair growth cycle. I guess it’s something like there are multiple hair follicles in one area and they want to kill all of them. So you go in every 4-6 weeks to hit all the bases.
While the treatment did hurt it didn’t really leave any marks. I was a little red immediately after but it goes away fairly fast.
The results: The best candidate for laser hair removal is someone with light skin and dark hair because the laser somehow gets to the hair follicle through the skin and can ‘see’ it better with that contrast. My hair is very light. While most people’s eyebrows or arm hair or whathaveyou is darker than the hair on their head, the hair on my body is lighter. So the spa told me this might not work 100%, but they were still confident I would get good results (just not perfect).
Well, I probably have a 30% reduction in hair, but I still need to get waxed or shave. It’s mostly frustrating because the procedure was so painful the last time.
But, I have talked to other people who have said it worked pretty good for them or ate least removed about 70% of their hair. Therefore, if you have dark hair, you may want to try treatments such as Laser hair removal in Exton, PA since you may get better results.
Tips:
I feel like doctor’s offices are always cold so I bought socks to put on while getting treatment.
I think the Groupon was a great deal. Check it out first.
I think 6 sessions is the minimum. Buy at least that many.
Skip it if you have blonde or strawberry blonde hair on your body.

Now I remove my hair on the iplaser. I have blonde hair, and it is removed well though I was very worried about it and I was afraid of stains or burns. But after two treatments I can conclude that the device is harmless and effective)) Hair has desappeared, the skin is soft, not damaged. I agree with the author of the article you need to choose an experienced laser cosmetician who can work on this unit.

I have towhead and 1S Pro does an outstanding job. I epilate myself remove even arm pits hair. The epilator is easy to use and pint size. the effect is lasts for long time

I have ginger/red hair but my underarm and brazilian hair is mainly brown. I’m trying laser hair removal to see if I have any success but I know the likelihood of it not working. My hairs a darker than yours Monica and I have about the same skin colour as you, I’m pretty much the palest of the pale. Do you think considering my hair is brown in my Brazilian area and my skins so pale that it might work? Thanks, anyones responses will be appreciated.

I had laser hair removal done about 10 years ago – I went in just a couple of months ago for a touch-up for some stragglers and am back to not shaving once again! Definitely worth it.
California Mom says
I went to a reputable place that used Soprano Ice. This machine is supposed to work on a broader range of hair/skin color combinations. Like everyone else, I was excited and couldn’t wait to see the hair fall out in sections. Even with a hair reduction, I feel the cost would be worth it. I did wait until I had money saved up and was comfortable spending that kind of doe on something fairly frivolous. The machine did not hurt. The first session didn’t hurt at all, but when she turned it up the next time I felt a slight prickling. Also she would stop when the laser got hot. A couple of weeks after each treatment hair would fall out and I’d get about a week of hair free underarm/bikini. I also added lower legs after a few sessions and was excited by the results. Unfortunately, after the company started keeping extremely limited hours and missing my last treatment (after 5) my hair seems to have completely grown back. It’s really hard to tell if it was working. Is this a new set of hairs in a different phase? I’d like to say I won’t continue, but already looking for a new place in hopes it will work if I continue. It’s natural to find the answers I want to hear as I really want it to work. It was really nice shaving once or twice on a beach vacation! I would not be surprised if after 6 more sessions, my hair just kept growing and I only got to experience the hair free phase after each treatment. One new place I called said it could be that the hair is burned off, but the follicle has not actually been killed. She then said it would take a few more treatments for someone with lighter hair. She recommended electrolysis over the phone. If it was just a few more treatments it would still be worth it. I thought electrolysis was for a few hairs at a time. I also spoke to yet another company offering to dye the hair follicles to get results. Anyone experience this?
sandra contreras says
I did this for my underarms. My last treatment was about 3 months ago. It only worked on one underarm. I still get hair growth but not as much on the underarm that it “worked” with. The other underarm, I am back to shaving daily 🙁

Anyone tried Brazilian Laser hair removal? I want to have one and looked for an information/review online. I can’t get enough information or review. So I have I tried to compile what I get in this article so others can get some information.

Please share me your experience.
California Mom says
I tried this. They actually charged extra for the back, which if you were at a waxing salon would naturally be included in a Brazilian. I do not believe I had any results in the back. I’ve had about 5 treatments, but after the company cancelled my last appointment have seen most if not all of the hair grow back.
Wendy Cartright says
Thank you for sharing your experience with laser hair removal! I’m sorry the results weren’t as good as you expected. I have been strongly considering having laser hair removal done since I have light skin and dark brown hair. I’m hoping that I will be a good candidate for the procedure.
Jamie says
I’ve been getting treatments for over 2 years now. I have dark brown hair. I only see a major difference on my bikini and armpit area that have darker (black) hair. Slight difference on my lower legs, no change on my knees. I spent so much money on this. If I saw better results I’d say it was worth it, but I have to say it wasn’t. Still shaving my legs. I’m looking for new deals on groupon but I’m about to give up. And I haven’t mentioned the pain. If you decide to have a brazilian done, you’ll be flopping on the table. I heard there are new type of laser machines that are far less painful, haven’t tried it yet.
Jackie says
The only thing I don’t like about professional laser treatments is the high cost; you need numerous treatments for permanent results. The results however are superior to waxing or shaving which can cause hair to grow out even thicker.

The blog was good to read. And i had my experiences with laser hair removal treatment,
it was quite scared from the beginning and now happy to see my skin after removal of unwanted hair. my recommend my friends you can approach best treatment at here

How funny, I just started treatment too. I had my second today. The only place it really hurts on me is below the knee, but that’s because I don’t have much fat there. I’ve already seen improvement after one session, but I am light skinned and have dark hair, which is the best candidate for laser hair removal.
Meredith Z says
I also got it done on my underarms and bikini line. I have olive skin and dark hair. It actually worked amazingly on my bikini line, but not as well on my underarms. I’m on probably my 9th treatment for underarms and it’s starting to work. I think electrolysis is supposed to be good for light skin/fine hair?
Leah M says
Well, I’m out. I have blonde and strawberry blonde on my body. My biggest complaint is how hairy (actually, I prefer fuzzy) my face is. I have a lot of very fine, very soft, very reflective blonde facial hair. All. Over. My. Face. From my hair line to my neck. Does anyone else have this issue, and how do you deal with it?
I don’t get that close to other ladies faces to check it out. Seems weird?
Elena says
My friend got derma planing – not sure what it is but she said it made all the fuzz on her face go away.
Traci says
I had treatment on my lower legs and underarms and it worked like a champ. I actually didn’t even need to finish my 6 session package, but probably because I have fair skin and dark hair that’s optimal for this treatmen. No shaving or waxing for a few wonderful years- until I got pregnant. No one mentioned to me that all the results of the laser treatments would go out the window once I became pregnant!
Elena says
Wow I had never heard that! Although pregnancy changes SOOO many things I guess it’s not surprising:)
Nicole says
I mean this with all sincerity: “your armpit looks beautiful”.
🙂
thanks for the info! I really REALLY want to get some lasering done but I am a HUGE wimp in the pain category, even though I have pushed out 2 babies….and I do currently get waxed
runeatrepeat says
Ha! Best compliment I’ve gotten in a long time 🙂
Breanna says
I got a groupon last year for full legs and they gave me a really good deal to add on bikini and underarms. The place that I’ve been going does 8 treatments then you get 4 more as touchup treatments that you can use anytime in the 2 years following your 8th treatment. I have light skin and dark brown hair and since the 6th treatment I haven’t had to shave my legs. I’ve had 10 treatments so far and I still have a little dark hair left on my bikini but I only have the one random dark hair on my underarms maybe once a month.
April says
First of all, they should have been upfront about it not working on blondes/lighter and reds. Hubs almost bought one for me but asked me to check out the FAQs and such first and I found out before he bought it for me luckily!
Sucks, because I really was looking forward to the arms at least.
Sheena says
When I was still living in San Diego I bought a 6-pack option from a medspa and chose to use it all on my underarms. I have medium-ish skin tone and DARK hair so I thought it would be perfect! I ended up moving back to northern California after my 4th treatment, so super bummed about that because I was starting to see results. I think if i would have been able to do all 6 plus maybe a follow-up or 2 at the 6-month mark, my pits would be doing alright!
These kinds of Groupons are SO much more expensive in northern CA than they are in southern CA, it kills me!
Linda Thomas says
I have the same hair color as you so laser doesn’t work on me either but I have heard that electrolysis will work no matter what your hair color is and is much more permanent. I am just waiting for a Groupon.
runeatrepeat says
Do you know if that hurts?
Flower says
I always wanted to try this and my neighbor actually owns a chain of laser hair removal centers but she told me that because I’m a blonde and the hair on my arms and legs is blonde my results wouldn’t be as good as someone with dark hair.
She said I might be okay with the bikini wax but since my cup matches my saucer so to speak I was afraid that wouldn’t work either. Oh well, thankfully mens razors work pretty well for me.
Shannon in Tustin says
I have light/medium skin and very dark hair. It has worked for me but taken MANY more visits than the original 6 that I purchased, which kind of ticked me off. But I’m going ahead with it to finish and am almost done. My advice to anyone that does go ahead and has some success, would be to buy the “touch-up” or additional visits in package (cheaper). I did one at a time (foolishly and was kinda mad they didn’t suggest another package) for a while and then the light bulb moment came where I just bought another six to finally finish this up! More than anything the prep and numbing and appointments are getting on my nerves. I just want to be done with it!
Annette @ Sweating Through Life says
Bummer!!! I have been contemplating this for years and have never had the guts to do it because I was always afraid it wouldn’t work. I, too, would be considered an “idea” candidate, but I’m just so apprehensive. I’ve heard good results and results like yours. I’m also happy to read honest reviews though…I don’t think everyone who experienced “results” are always so honest….
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties says
Bummer!! I didn’t know it had anything to do with skin/hair color but I guess that makes sense. Even 70% removal isn’t that great though, because you still have to shave!
Terri says
I’m sorry to hear it did not work for you. I am a laser technician and uses to rent that exact Cutera Xeo machine. My results on clients were mixed and like you say definitely worked better on darker hair. I currently own a VPL laser which is slightly similar to ipl and I have great results on clients with lighter hair maybe consider trying a couple of sessions on a laser more suited to lighter hair? Ps the Cutera NdYag is painful!!!!
Sheena @ Paws and Pavement says
I’m a redhead too and it didn’t work for me either 🙁 I wish I would have tried it on small areas like you did but I tried it on my legs. The area that hurt was my hamstrings (I did full legs) and numbing cream wasn’t available. Such a bummer it doesn’t work for us with lighter hair.
runeatrepeat says
I can’t believe you did it to your whole legs – it hurts!
Allison says
Didn’t really work for me either. You pretty much have to be Snow white with black hair and white skin. I am quite fair and I think I have darkish hair, but its really more of a mix of colors, and the blonde/light brown still comes back. I endured a lot of pain to have to still shave my arm pits!
Gen says
I was told blondes and redheads should not do it and it is not worth it. My mom has dark auburn hair and tried it and had great success, but they said it was because of how dark red/almost chestnut her hair is on her pale, pale skin. Sucks it didn’t work!
Jeannie says
Didn’t work for me either, and they called me the “perfect candidate”. I actually had almost 12 treatments done over the course of two years on my arms and underarms, and I had maybe a 30% hair reduction by the end of it. I’m mostly Scottish, so incredibly light-skinned but have very dark brown hair on my arms and underarms, so they were confident it would work in 6 treatments; when it didn’t, they were so surprised that they continued to give me treatments to try to force it – called them the free “touch-up” treatments I was contracted for, but in reality they were full treatments that just never worked.
Sadly this was 7 years ago, back before it was popular enough to be on Groupon, so by the end of it I was just out a ton of money and in the end I still have to shave. =/ Buuut live and learn!
And it does work for some people – so maybe give it another 5 or 10 years, and they’ll perfect it for us anomalies. =P
Christy says
I had this done on my legs and underarms years ago. It mostly worked on both areas. I have thick dark hair and in the winter I am very light skinned. My problem area is my knees. I still have more hair on my knees then other areas of my body. I would say I experienced in each area about an 80% hair reduction.
Jen @ Pretty Little Grub says
That’s disappointing it didn’t work. Even at 70%, I would still feel I needed to shave. So I guess I won’t be trying this.
april says
It is very unprofessional that they didn’t turn you away with the lightness of your hair. I work with a laser hair clinic and they would have never taken your money! That stinks!
Renee says
i did six treatments on my underarms and bikini area a couple years ago. While I have dark brown hair and light/medium skin, it didn’t work for me either. There was less hair for a couple months but I still had to shave and now it’s back to exactly like it was before the treatments. Wamp.
runeatrepeat says
Boo. Thanks for chiming in though.
Ash Diamond says
I seriously think the best thing for me is when I religiously get my bikini done every 6-8 weeks. It hurts much less and seems to last longer. Too bad that went out the window here in Switzerland…
runeatrepeat says
Totally agree. My hair was getting a lot more sparse just waxing.
Alana says
Thanks for the honest review!
runeatrepeat says
Thanks for reading. The only reason I even kept going is so I could give a complete review so I’m glad you appreciate it 🙂

I use NAIR for my upper lip but have to do it at least once a week so would love to try laser hair removal in that area! Anyone had that area done?
Erika says
So I got my lip lasered maybe one or two times just to try it. It only took me that one or two times to decide I would never do it again. I just use some product from Olay instead. Way less painful.
Tracy @ dirtyeating.com says
Thanks for posting this – I’ve thought about doing it many times, because I’m super lazy about shaving and it would be nice to just be done with it. I have pale skin, dirty blonde hair on my head, and a little bit darker hair on my body, so it sounds like it might work well for me!
Sally @ sweat out the small stuff says
I remember trying electrolysis once years ago and it didn’t work. Bummer.
Thanks for your review.
