Coming back to reality after a fun weekend away is always a bummer. Can’t I just live on vacation? I love it. I’m considering buying a RV, and perhaps storing it with the help of sites like www.jimmysrv.com, and just blogging from the road as I travel from race to race around the country? Yes or No?
I recently saw this used sprinter camper van for sale and considering it. I didn’t have time to price RVs today though because I had a lot of work to do. So, I guess I’ll sleep on it and let you know tomorrow. Although, I kind of live in a place that is like vacation.
When I stopped by the Team Refuel booth at the expo they talked me into taking a picture with a chocolate milk mustache– ha!
Okay. I am not following a set training schedule for the BTR 50k, but I do need to get my weekly mileage up and Steve mentioned I should get up to about 45 –50 miles a week. So this week I am shooting for (this is ambitious given my schedule, but we’ll see):
- Monday: Rest
- Tuesday: 6 miles tempo
- Wednesday: 9 miles
- Thursday: Rest.
- Friday: 15 miles
- Saturday: 15 miles – may switch to Sunday.
- Sunday: Rest.
Actually I am headed out of town again this weekend. I am going to Tucson to get the Road Runners Club of American coaching certification. I have been thinking about this cert for over a year and a half and finally decided to go for it. I started to make a 5 year plan recently and I have a dream – step one starts now!
But, I have no travel plans laid out yet so I have to get on that, plus do my taxes and get in a little running this week You know, just a teeny bit.
Aaaand Steve made a video of us at RnR San Francisco. I am so LOUD and awkward, you guys are lucky you just know me over the internet and not in real life… but it’s short and the background is gorgeous:

You look like you’re having fun! I want some sun and palm trees too!
A Pillow for Your Thoughts says
You are a very inspirational person. Having a set schedule like that for your running motivates me to do the same! Thanks! One of the best ways to live a happier life is to be healthy, wouldn’t you agree?

Ooh, please blog about how the RRCA course goes! I really want to do that, but every course that’s been offered in my area lately has been on a weekend when I already have something going on (like a marathon). Good luck with your training runs this week and enjoy getting your certification!
Cortney says
Good luck with the cert! I really loved it when I took it! I am a science nerd, so I like all the charts, graphs and geek speak!
Lindsey @ Run Freckles Run says
Wow, good luck on the 45-50 miles this week. I’m just now hitting 40/week and it feels like a lot!!!

I like to food suggestions above (HUB- prime tots and Eegees-ranch fries and flavor of the month). If you have time for a nice dinner you MUST go to Poca Cosa and order the Plato Poca Cosa. It’s amazing Mexican food with a menu that changes twice every day. FAVORITE.
Have fun in Tucson! It should be beautiful here this weekend!
Nicole says
Exactly 🙂 cafe poca cosa is amazing 🙂
Sarah G says
I was just telling my hubs we need to live somewhere that feels more like vacation! LOL
Nicole says
I cant believe no one mentioned Cafe Poca Cosa for while you are in Tucson… Its amazing… best mexican food ever. Their menu changes twice a day every day, so you never know what youre going to get. Then, they have an option that they bring you three random things from the menu to try. Its awesome!
I happen to live in Tucson so if you plan a meet-up anywhere, I wanna know!! The guy that teaches many of the coaches certification courses is an old college professor of mine- Randy Accetta- Hes great- very funny- youll like it if its him!
Elizabeth @ livingrunningcooking.com says
I was just looking at those certifications this weekend. I think it would be a great certification to have! I can’t wait to read your recaps. I just got my ACE certification and when I was googling for study tips, etc… your blog came up and I loved your post with ACE tips.
Virginia S. says
Yes! If I wasn’t tied down with my career…. it would be awesome to just live on vacation and go full time instead of being a weekend warrior. Get the RV and try it for a year to see how it works out.
Heather says
5 years is so long.
Check out Vanessa Runs – she quit her job, and packed up her boyfriend and her pets, and travels in an RV, running wherever she wants. I’m so jealous of her.
runeatrepeat says
It is. I don’t have the whole 5 planned out, just getting started…
Sharsti@theblondehairblueeyedrunner says
You are awesome, good luck with the extra mileage. Ps your rms look great, I’d love to know more specifically what your weight training workout is if you want to share:)
Paige @ Your Trainer Paige says
Since moving to CO, sometimes I feel like I’m on one big vacation!
PS – watching that video makes me want to know you in real life LOL
runeatrepeat says
Awww, I do need a real life friend. You should have moved past CO to CA 🙂
Charlotte @ Commitness to Fitness says
Congrats on going for your certification! That reminds me I need to take another look at my 5-yr plan.
Jen says
I say go ahead and buy an RV! I have a friend who owns one and he said that all the Cracker Barrels have free RV parking.
heather @ run eat play says
That’s great that you’re getting the certification – I think you’d be an awesome coach

This summer my sister, my mom and I are traveling to Cali in our motorhome..I’m trying to convince them that instead of 2 weeks it should be a month!
Ashley @ Eat Run Live Happy says
It would be amazing to travel for a year. My boyfriend and I are actually doing that in 2014. We are doing as many RnR halfs as we can possible make it to. TOUR PASS!!!! 😀
Megan says
If you figure out how to pay the bills and just travel for races / run for a living let me know. I’ll hook my trailer to your RV.
Karen says
I’m working on a five year plan too. It feels much better to have some direction than just going through the motions daily.
Rebecca says
5yr plan OMG! To be so organized! I wish. How much detail do you include so far ahead? I’d be interested to hear.
Sarah says
50K!!!
Wow that is super impressive.
Very inspirational, I so need to do more running, not sure I could ever get to that level, but that’s OK.
Will writing down a plan this week.
