6 Miles – Today I got out early and saw a big ol’ raccoon on my run 🙂 That is not a common site around here. I was kinda scared of him(her?) because he was so BIG! Luckily, he was more scared of me and scurried into a sewer drain when he saw me coming.
When the BF and I went to Costa Rica we were almost ambushed by a huge family of raccoons. We were eating on the beach and they ran up to us to get to the food. We tried to scare them away, but they were fearless! A beach/park ranger ran over to help us. He instructed us to throw sand at them. He was shouting, “More, keep throwing!” So, picture 3 adults wildly throwing sand at a racoon family until they finally gave up and went away. We probably looked crazy, but I guess the animals get very assertive because they know they can get food from tourists. Human food is not good for them and you should never feed wild animals!!! No matter how cute they are 🙂
This isn’t a raccoon (obvi) it’s a Coati, another very friendly animal we met in Costa Rica. They are from the raccoon family, but a little scarier.I love this pic & don’t have pics of a racoon so here ya go…
