Hello and Happy Friday! First things first, the winner of the Champion Shaping Active Gear is…
Send me your information (sizes and address).
Since I can’t do the race tomorrow after all I considered doing my long run this morning. But, I wasn’t mentally or physically prepared so I didn’t. The funeral we are going to is 2 hours away and starts at 11am – I’m going to be up at the butt crack of dawn tomorrow!
I did a 5k for Friday instead!
When I got home I made a big ol’ egg sandwich for breakfast. Cheese on the egg, laughing cow cheese on the bread.
There are 15 days until my marathon and even though the toughest physical part of training is over, it’s time to get my head in the game. Here are some fun Adidas ads Ben sent me a long time ago. They’re super old school, but true none-the-less…
This one is my favorite because I totally stretch in weird places (like the time I foam rolled at the airport!). I am shameless.
Question: Got a favorite inspirational mantra (or slogan)?
Maren says
My bf thinks I am so weird because I stretch in random places, but it’s necessary, okay!? Humans are the only mammals that don’t stretch at least 10 times a day! Stretching is good for the soul! 🙂
Amber K says
lol! Those are great ads. Foam rolling at the airport sounds like the perfect way to relax, sounds good to me! Although I don’t think I’ll find myself stretching like that in line anywhere, anytime soon.
Khourt @ Life As A Convert says
Love them all. Im sure Ive gotten some weird looks before but whatever 😉
Krissy @ Shiawase Life says
Loved those ads! THanks for sharing them 😀

Kristie says
A. I LOVE this blog.
B. I also LOVE those pics! (ESP the San Francisco one, since I am a runner of hills it tickled me)
C.Weigh-ins are stupid. VIVA EAT RUN REPEAT!
D. “you got this bitch” has got to be one of the bests Ive heard. I have used that one before, without a doubt!!

Thanks Kristie 🙂
Tiffany @ texan on the run says
I LOVE THIS POST. hahahaha i printscreened these and posted them on my fb, amazing!
Lindsay @ Lindsay's List says
The one of the lady squatting behind the tree made me laugh…definitely been there on a long run.
Liz @ Southern Charm says
Yes! It’s silly and it’s from “the Hills” but mine is “truth in time will tell all” more of a calm me down than pump me up, but hey, sometimes that’s what we need 🙂

I like the new Saucony What is Strong ad’s. Is it your best time? Or your worst day? Maybe strong is just what you have left, when you’ve used up all your weak.

Haha those Adidas ads are awesome (every time I spell Adidas, I sing the song…even though I’m not into Korn) I like the ad with the curbside vaseline application. Any time my husband sees me with the vaseline he says, “what’s going on here?”
I like the Nike ad you posted awhile ago that says ” …no one ever said,
“Now that one…she’s going to be a runner.”…”
I also like “I run because I can,” since it hits home at a personal level, but my latest is “pushing through the uncomfortableness is the only way to get better.” I think that applies to everything in life..for me anyway!
runeatrepeat says
That “no one ever said” one is my ALL TIME FAVORITE!!!!!

These ads are hilarious! Read: awesome 🙂
deva @ deva by definition says
those ads are hilarious. I love them, though!
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
I love those pictures!! So true. 🙂
Mendy says
Thank you! Those old ads are hilarious! I’m using the peeing one as my FB profile pic! The timing is awesome b/c my running buddy and I had this talk last week. He unfortunately suffers from “outdoor potty shyness.” ….so I take potty breaks all the time, of course. B/c I can. B/c I care. A lot. And it shows. In a good way. Despite what he says. : )

These crack me up. It’s funny how we do normal things (for runners), but others see that it’s just weird. Yeah, I’ll wear a headlamp when I run in the dark! Yes, I’ll eat guey stuff out of a tube to run longer. Yes, I’ll stretch in line at the grocery store because my achilles is sore. You’d do it all too, if you were a runner!
Molly says
Aaah! I love these ads, in HS I had them plastered all over my wall, along with a bunch from Nike! Great motivation!
Lucy says
DUDE – you look skinny good 🙂
runeatrepeat says
Thank you!!! Today’s my weigh in and it wasn’t great, so I needed that 🙂

I love those ads! I’ve seen them around a few times. I think my all time favorite fitness ads are the Nike ones from a while back. I’m a marketing major and I did a big project on these ads. Love them…especially the thunder thighs: http://www.runnerspace.com/members/photos/181/1610_full.jpg

I tell myself…I’m slow and proud of it. I shouldn’t be able to run after major health issues and surgery but I can and love it. I may be slow, you may be able to walk faster than me…but I’m running, I’m slow and I’m darn proud of it.
Sarah @ Sarah's Modern Bites says
EXCELLENT photos! It’s too everything is so damned censored now… I mean those Adidas ads are awesome! We will never see anyting like that again here in the States because there is always sooomeone who will complain. There is always a party pooper!
I love ‘I run because I can’… I have seen that around and I do not know its ‘official’ origin but it is incredibly powerful for me.
My Mother has chronic progressive multiple sclerosis and has been bed ridden for ten years after being SUPER active her whole life. My sister and I are have been training for a half marathon and eventually want to run as many races as we can (including a few marathons!) in support of MS research.
We are lucky that we can run because we can. I want to take full advantage of my legs and my health because I CAN 🙂
runeatrepeat says
Very awesome! Keep running girl 🙂
Brittany says
Too funny. I love the stretching one I’d totally do that too ;D
Sorry about the funeral :/ I had a VERY similar breakfast this morning!
Jenny @ Simply Be...me says
I love these! I saw one the other day on facebook that reads “Whether it is a 14 minute mile or a 7 minute mile, it is still a mile.” I don’t know what the ad is for but I absolutely love it 🙂
Cat @ Breakfast to Bed says
“you got this, bitch” I say it to myself all the time.
runeatrepeat says
Love that!
Elizabeth @ reads recipes runs says
Those ads are amazing! The bandaids over the nipples made me think of that episode of the office when they have the 5k for rabies and Andy has nipple chafing issues. HILARIOUS.
Jackie @ That Deep Breath says
Haha!! Those ads are awesome. I’m not a runner but I think these are hilarious!
