This morning I was on a mission to find what I’ve heard to be the best scones in Orange County. As soon as I woke up I changed and went to a local bakery I’ve heard people rave about. But, they were closed 🙁 Boo.
Defeated I went home and made breakfast…
But not before stopping in at the grocery store for a few “key ingredients” for breakfast. I got a cheese danish to share with Ben. It was not comparable to a freshly baked scone, so my craving is still alive and well.
Most of the morning consisted of cleaning and organizing. Our kitchen and living room are unpacked, but now I want to organize everything. I ate lunch while I worked – watermelon and AB&J.
Paper towels = the lazy girls plate.
Today was way too beautiful to stay inside though! We headed to my mom’s to walk the dogs…
and bring Ben’s kites out of retirement. Ben is a kiteboarder, but hasn’t been able to kite for over a year due to the move. We had to inflate the kites to make sure they were still in shape to take out. It’s a big process since these suckers are huge!!! While I waited around for Ben to pull everything out, inflate it and put it back I packed up the last of the stuff I had at my Mom’s and snacked on tortilla chips, salsa and a protein bar. Just not all together.
I threw together a quick and easy salad to go with the leftovers from yesterday – Asian Slaw with Chickpeas 🙂
In a huge bowl: a whole bag of cole slaw, can of chickpeas, diced onions, TJ’s Spicy Peanut Dessing and topped with cashews.
I’m usually super hungry the day after long run days so I’ve been a little snacky today. But, I feel good energy and belly-wise so I’m happy 🙂
Tomorrow is a big day! I’ll have an explanation of some new things going on in the morning.
Question: What’s your baked good of choice?
Me: I am not even sure I like scones, but after hearing such a high review of them I have to have one. Normally I would get a cookie – chocolate chip 🙂

Living in Portland, there are endless possibilities when it comes to baked goods with a cup of coffee. I too had never experienced a scone but was determined to eat the best one in town. I must say, I didn’t care too much for the texture. Its a little to hard and crumbly for me. My favorite baked good would have to be a fresh piece of bread with some sort of butter, apple butter, peanut butter, regular ol’ butter or jam, or honey. Soft breads with the potential to be sweet or savory are my weakness.

I don’t discriminate when it comes to baked goods. I love all things sweet, warm, and fresh from the oven!
Lately, my appetite is getting the best of me after long runs. It’s snack central over here!

I am soooo obsessed with Panera’s cinnamon chip scones. We don’t have a Panera anywhere near me in DC, so whenever I go back home to Cleveland for a visit a scone is a must!

i like scones. they are pretty good – but NO SCONE has ever (and dare i say, will ever) compare to a SAVVY SCONE. seriously, girl. Julie makes the most TO DIE FOR scones.
i need to find a way to get some to cali for you. seriously.

Brownies are my favorite. Chewy, never cakey. And NO nuts.

I’m not so much of a baked good person than I am an ice cream person, but if I had to choose, I would say some kind of gooey muffin or blondie would be my baked good of choice.
Heather says
I love scones but chocolate chip cookies are hand down my first choice in baked goods.
Laura (Starloz) says
Oh my fav baked good would be a chocolate hazelnut cupcake

Scones always seem hard to me so I never get it. I really like 4-layer bars (monkey bars, 6-layer bars, they have mulitple names). If you ever go to Encinitas in San DIego, go to Pannikins’, best baked goods ever!! I like to get cinnamon rolls, those are good, but you can’t go wrong with chocolate chip cookies. Honestly, I like all baked goods except for biscotti (but i don’t know if that is considered a baked good)

I love dessert breads and loaf like pumpkin bread, zucchini bread, lemon bread. **mouth watering now**

Oy. Pastries are my total weakness especially if they are in the break room! I rarely ever buy those kind of treats but when they are around, it is hard to resist. Favorites tend to be cream cheese and berry or lemon danishes.
I just moved to a new city and heard great things about a donut place so had to go try them, of course. Not as great as I had hoped but the strawberry filled was pretty perfect. Darn cravings!
Your watermelon and chickpea salad look so yummy!

chocolate chip banana bread homemade from my mom!

My FAVORITE baked good is my own version of banana bread. (Wait…is that vain? lol) but I absolutely love it.
But I can’t share the recipe. I have too many people I make it for that look forward to it every year when I make it for them for Christmas. Letting the recipe out would ruin all of my fun! =P

You can share the recipe with me since I don’t get your bread for Christmas. Unless you want to send me some…

I literally just finished posting about the best scone I’ve ever had! Weird. It was chocolate chip coconut. For real. I am almost died.
I love scones, muffins, cookies, and cupcakes. Okay, so basically I will eat any baked good/pastry. I am not a huge danish person though….
