Rest Day from running meant a visit to the apartment’s gym today. It’s pretty small, but it was completely empty, which is nice. This was my first visit so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It has 2 ellipticals, 2 treadmills, 1 recumbent bike and some weight machines.
I stuck to the elliptical for about 40 minutes before it was time to get ready for work. It was a nice change from running, but I just don’t feel like the elliptical gives me a good work out. Maybe because running is so tough for me? I dunno, but I want to feel like I got in a good calorie burn and not just wasted 40 minutes…
Can you see the sunken treasure in my oats? That would be almond butter.
I like cinnamon too 🙂 Ben spilled coffee granules in the almond butter this morning and tried his best to get them all out, but there was still a few when I came to use it and I thought there were bugs in it!!!!! He told me what happened and we both laughed 🙂 But, if you see bugs in my almond butter you know why…

I was thinking of paying good money for some mocha peanut butter from naturally nutty. maybe I should just spill some coffee granules in a jar haha 🙂

You’re totally right about the elliptical – it never kicks my butt the same way that a good olf fashioned run does. It just feels too easy.

i HATE the elliptical.. i feel like it’s a complete waste. I always feel so much better when I get a good 30 minute run on the treadmil however my left knee has been killing me, probably from the pounding of the running so I have no choice but to do the elliptical and its such a BORE.. not to mention I feel like I barely work up a sweat even after 35 mins!
I also just wanted to say that I love reading your blog.. i think one night i sat and read all the blogs you’ve ever written (as i am knew to the blog-food world) … and i love all your pictures of the food! I wish i had your attitude about food also… i tend to obsess over every morsel i put in my mouth and then feel guilty afterwards…but i see that you are trying to learn how to give your body what it wants without beating yourself up. i need to learn how to do this! sorry this is so long.. i just really enjoy your blog =)

completely in agreement with you about the elliptical and i second danielle’s comment about upping the resistance. i’ve also found that NOT reading and / or doing work while ellipticalling makes it feel harder because all my effort is going into the workout rather than multitasking

I agree on the elliptical, I do find if I jack the resistance up I do get a pretty good workout though. I’m trying to mix stuff up because I know I’ve been over training. 🙁
