Hello and Happy Thursday. I have a long run tomorrow so I took today off from running and enjoyed a nice walk with my one friend SR. After debating potential US action in Syria (we’re not on the same side) we talked about the good, bad and lucky of our lives.
It’s easy to forget your blessings in the middle of a hectic week or bad day. But it’s important to live with “an attitude of gratitude” and cherish what you do have.
I have been doing this whole blogging dealio for a while now, but still get really excited every time I get an email about an event or new and improved running shoe. I am very grateful.
I’ve also been very introspective lately and realize this is a special time in my life, but it’s not going to last forever. I don’t know where I’ll be a year from now, but today I am focused on my blessings.
So, I’m thankful for every opportunity. And I’m thankful for you. And I’m thankful that my cat lets me pick him up and dance around the house while singing the latest Gaga track. I’m thankful my friends are my friends even though I was born a bit fiesty. And I’m thankful for fro-yo and pizza and that I can vote and wear too much makeup if I wanna and… I made a long list and you should too.
I wanted to share this random, but fun video of an impromtu relay race prank. Would you help this guy out?
Speaking of relay jokes… at the Ragnar SoCal Relay some guys squirted me with a water gun as a prank. I wish I had that on video because my reaction surprised them and is super random (which is probably why I didn’t blog about it and this whole paragraph is now dumb).
Anyway.
List 10 things you’re thankful for now – in your head, on a paper, via text… just do it.

Thank you for this post 🙂 I never comment, but read every day. This post made me think of everything I was grateful for while on a run that started out with me not wanting to do it, and ended up amazing.

Thanks so much for the reminder! I’ve been so caught up with my health worries in the past month that I’ve forgotten to sit back, chill out and enjoy the now moment with friends and family.

I’m definitely going to write a list. It’s so easy to spend my time feeling resentful and as if all I see are barriers; it’s good to have a reality check, and just be more open about the good things in life 🙂

Unrelated to your post, but don’t you do a lot of shilling for this company? Your readers should probably know this: http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm367298.htm?source=govdelivery&utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery
Sounds like a pretty massive recall. All flavors and products.

Yes! I just heard about this – thanks for the head’s up.

That relay video was hilarious!
I think it’s important to take time to be thankful for what we have because sometimes we lose sight of what’s truly important.

Well now I want to hear more about your response to being squirted with a water gun.
I likely would have jumped out of my skin and then been super embarrassed and carried on my way…
Taylor @ Single-tracked Mind says
Being thankful is so important! It’s easy to lose track of how lucky we are, but there are people in the world truly suffering. Thanks for the reminder!
Kathy says
You are right we should be waaay more thankful for what we have then have not.
Your paragraph about the man squirting you made me smile and then smile more when you admitted to it being random or what ever….just keeping it real Monica style. ha!
