Hello! Today is a rest day so I did some strength training with my weights and used my Swopper chair as a weight bench. Make it work!
I also took a walk to Target to get deodorant and 28 other things I do not need.
I explored the Valentine’s Day area and saw a lot of good presents for Valentine’s Day (mostly candy) and some bad ones. That got me thinking about the BEST and WORST Valentine’s Day gifts…
The Worst Valentine’s Gift Ideas:
1. A chocolate hippo. Um, please don’t. Even if someone’s love nick-name for you is Hippy Hippo or something you should probably just break up with them.
2. A #single tee-shirt. Unless you’re trying to break up with them?
I spotted this #Single tee at Target.
Here are other options:
3. A romantic walk through a poison ivy ridden trail. (This didn’t happen to me… but I just realized I can’t identify poison ivy so it could happen to me if I went on a hiking date!!)
4. A framed selfie. I’m sure their phone is already packed with pics of you, that’s enough. Surprise him with a boudoir album instead. Contact Stacy Smith Studios for boudoir photography Rhode Island.
Monican, we said that is enough!
5. Anything that you’re not sure they like or if it was your ex that really liked…
Example:
You: “I got you Daisies because you said your mom used to pick them with you growing up!”
Valentine: “I never said that. My mom left us when I was 3 remember? Thanks for bringing it up.”
That’s why I say to stick with food gifts. Mostly because I love food.
So does Vegas…
Except, Ben is teaching him bad habits! I NEVER feed him off my spoon and as soon as he realized we were eating Yogurtland last night I came to get some.
Brain Freeze!
I kinda want to make bacon roses just because they seem so fun.
This “How to make bacon roses” post seems like something I could actually do (as long as I don’t swap the bacon for tofu or something…).
Also, I guess bacon roses would be a bad gift for a vegan. Better know their eating habits!
Question: What is the BEST Valentine’s Day gift idea you’ve ever heard of?
What is the WORST?

Not for v-day, but I’m the group fitness director at a huge Y here and this guy totally bought his wife all these personal training sessions and we’re not 100% clear on whether she wanted/had asked for those which is sort of awkward.

Haha such a funny post! I love anything chocolate covered (most recently swedish fish, omg so good!) Also, bacon horticulture is amazing — I need it in my life!

Neither my husband or I are into the idea of Valentine’s Day having to be a big “proof of love” type thing but celebrating is fun, so we usually cook something special (steak and lobster on the grill this year), drink some champagne, and spend the day together.

The first thing that came to my mind was a mix-tape my husband gave me on our first Valentine’s day (we’d been dating about 9 months, not married). I still have it! I don’t think we even own anything that would play a cassette tape now, but I’ll never ever get rid of it. It was sweet, he wrote down all the songs, drew a heart on the paper insert…just a little thing to treasure. 🙂
We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary last August. Hope you and Ben have had a nice week together.

hahaha those bacon roses are hilarious! My fav valentine’s gifts are beer and chocolate. Can’t go wrong there!

Hahaha, I need that Tacos shirt. Its bomb. Also, every time I go for a walk or a hike, or basically anything outside I ask Siri, “What does poison ivy look like??” Boom. Picture to walk with. Try it!!

My friend and I actually attempted to make the bacon bouquet last night for our husbands. At first the flowers looked like the picture, but they were still raw in the middle. By the time they actually cooked through they kind of shriveled up haha.

The SO and I do gifts but not typically ‘romantic’ ones – I got him a mead making set (he needs a hobby and loves mead!) and he got me a fancy hardback set of Grimm Fairy tales (the original, creepy ones). The best things are the ones each person individually loves. Although I love flowers on my desk so I can brag to the gals and have something nice to look at.

I think the best Valentine’s Day gift I received was having flowers delivered to me at work by my then boyfriend. I’ve never had a boyfriend on VDay so that was so sweet and such a nice treat.
Stacy @ Sweating Tulipz says
I seriously LOVE home made gifts…even if it is just a home made Valentine…there is something about Valentine’s day that makes me want something that was made by the person.

One year, my long distance BF at the time sent me a HUGE sheet cake. I had to go pick it up and I had no idea what I was getting. I was definitely pleasantly surprised because CAKE

I love VEGAS! That is picture is hilarious. My husband has a beard during the winter months, and we used to have a cat that would “clean” his beard – like my husband was another cat. My husband thought it was funny, and started leaving little food bits in his beard if they fell so that the cat would get them.

Be glad Ben is using a spoon.
Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious says
My last boyfriend never made an effort to buy me anything in the 3 yrs we were together. I should’ve know after year 1 it wasn’t gonna work. Any effort would’ve been nice.
Livi @ Eat, Pray, Work It Out says
Definitely food gifts for me!!!!
Becky @ Ok, so here's the plan says
The best gift is anything with thought behind it!
The worst would be something that shows complete indifference. Generic things defeat the purpose.

Spanx, Scope, zit cream…..any hint hint gift.

Kit Kat mini’s? I wonder when they’ll start making Jumbo Malteezers!

I did love the dozen roses I got last year…it’s a shame the guy that gave them to me was MARRIED! Jerk!
This year is a whole new ballgame. I met the best guy ever and it’ll be our first V-day. I still hate the holiday but best gifts to give are fresh flowers, candy…but not heart crap. Get her what she likes…for me that would be any Wonka brand candy but especially Cherry Nerds and some good expensive dark chocolate.
My late husband on our last valentines before he died gave me tickets to see Alanis Morisette in concert to go with my best friend. (This was 1999 and I was obsessed with her =)
It was such a sweet gift….
Anyone who buys those Kay Jewler open heart necklaces….those are not good…
runeatrepeat says
Whaaaaaaaa?!?!! NOT okay about the married guy.
I’m happy that you have that memory of your late husband though <3
Heather @ Run Eat Play says
I kinda like that chocolate hippo…the fatter the hippo the more chocolate to eat. : )
My son was born today, two days before Valentine’s Day so I always say he was my best Valentine’s Day present!
runeatrepeat says
I think we’ve ‘talked’ about this – my mom’s birthday is Valentine’s Day!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
True story: Long ago I had a boyfriend who pulled out an advertisement from the newspaper of something he PLANNED to buy for me as my gift for the holiday. Yup. He’s long gone now … but wow. 🙂
runeatrepeat says
Ha! At least it’s a good story now 🙂
