Run Eat Repeat

Two steps forward, two steps back

Today is a Rest Day so I hit up the apartment gym for some elliptical time like on those Nordictrack RW600 vs RW700.

I am not all about the elliptical since  I don’t get “lost” in the workout like I do with my runs so it’s kinda boring. I meant to make my 5 year plan during my workout, but then I decided to do 2 minutes forward and 2 minutes backwards. So, I had to pay attention to the time. I think going backwards on the elliptical is a great idea because my legs are so used to running in one direction. I hope this strengthens other muscles. I did 30 minutes total, and I also did 10 minutes of strength exercises before.

I was hungry when I was working out this morning, which doesn’t normally happen to me (probably because I eat late at night!). So, I knew I needed a super filling breakfast to keep me full. Also, I am eating a lot earlier than I used to since I am getting to work so early. I made a bowl of oatmeal with banana, almond butter and TJ’s Raisin Bran granola cereal.

The picture is kinda blurry because I was using my phone…2009-08-06 07.36.56(3)

Happy Thursday! It was sprinkling this morning. I just don’t get rain in the summer…

I’m really into writing out plans and making lists so I want to make out my 5 year plan.

Question: I need to make a “5 year plan”. Do you have one? What’s your biggest 5 year goal??

In the News: The first female gold medal winner for the Marathon will run NYC this year to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her win. Rock On!

Uh, I’m sorry- did you just quote Paula Abdul in the title? Sweet.

Five year plan? Hmm. Having this kid is definitely in there… plus I’d like to run another marathon next December. And finding an actual CAREER would be great.

I think a five-year plan is great for setting goals, but you have to be both realistic and flexible. My five year plan is pretty generic, and includes general things like starting grad school and running a marathon.

I think if you get too specific about things you just set yourself up for disappointment. Allow for wiggle room!

Hmm my five year plan isn’t really that precise. I know i have to save a ton of money for our wedding, hopefully find and buy a house shortly before or after, and then hopefully have a baby. Should be an exciting 5 years lol.

Bill and I have definitely mapped out a loose “10-year-plan” that involves lots of good things like marriage, jobs, buying a house, a family – all that good stuff. But I wouldn’t say that I have anything written down because things seem to change so much in my life at the drop of a hat 🙂

I’m actually one of those people who is able to zone out on an elliptical for an hour at a time. I usually bring a good magazine with me when I’m on the elliptical, or watch some TV if you are lucky enough to have a TV connected to the elliptical. Makes my cross-training time fly

I totally have a 5 year plan. Funny thing is that I’ve always had one, but they don’t always pan out. =) Some things cannot be controlled. I’m in the process of buying a new car, and it’s stressing me out like crazy because I know that the car I buy now will affect me for at least the next 5 years…hence my 5 year plan. I’m planning marriage, children, purchasing a bigger home…you know…all of the things that will cause major life stress. There will be lots of running to quell all of the stress!

i prolly should make a 5 year plan (and the idea totally fits with my personality) but i get too overwhelmed with all the stuff i want to do. so i keep putting making one off. i guess my biggest 5 year goal would be to get into (and finish) med school. gahhh i get anxious just thinking about it! haha

I’ve been feeling like I need to make a 5 year plan.. I think it’s gonna have to do with school/job, buy a house, get married, and get a puppy! In random order..
