Watermelon and Cherries

How’s your Wednesday going?

I’m sure you know what I’ve been up to…IMG_6750 (600x800)

Even though I was hungry after my mid-morning clients I stayed for 2 dances of the noon Zumba class. It was my fave instructor, and it was Zumba Gold – so I figured I could handle it.

Then, I rushed home to EAT. Please note that my salad bowl bucket is almost bigger than my placemat. You say “Tragic” I say “Delicious!”IMG_6744 (800x600)

And the food you’ve all I’ve been waiting for…

Watermelon on my watermelon placemat <3IMG_6747 (800x600)

Then, this super awesome Watermelon Day got better when my double sized can of protein powder showed up! A lot of people ask what kind of powder I use – it’s Spirutein Cherries Jubilee. I love it but it’s not for everyone (like everything else, right).IMG_6748 (600x800)Disclaimer: I do not suggest you get this protein powder because every single time I try a protein powder someone else likes – I think it’s gross. I really think tastes for this stuff vary widely and I would hate to suggest someone spend a lot of money on a can and waste it. If you can, try the individual servings of this brand and others before you get a whole one Smile

Okay, I have 1/4 a watermelon to finish eating before I head back to work!IMG_6752 (600x800)

Got a protein powder you’re in love with?

THIS IS YOUR YEAR.

SO true about the wide array of protein preferences out there. Not only with taste but type too. I cannot stand the taste of most plant based protein powders like pea or hemp or even soy 🙁 I find them so grainy. Though the cherries jubilee flavor sounds delish.

I always buy whey protein because it is super bio-available but obviously not for everyone. I buy Progressive Nutritional Harmonized Whey Protein in Vanilla. It is AWESOME.

(Yay it’s working for me again!!)

A good tasting protein powder is one of the hardest things to find. Especially because I have too many issues. It can’t have anything I’m intolerant of (ugh, WAY too many have xanthan gum!) I’d like it to be clean, no funky ingredients, and it must, MUST taste good.

ALSO, love tera's whey bourbon vanilla! 🙂

I have a couple different powders that I rotate…they are made by a company called melealuca…there’s a protein one, a crave stopper one and a pre-workout one…the first two are just ok, but the pre-workout blend (in chocolate of course, duh) is like drinking chocolate milk, and it helps your body work more efficiently durning your workout. (good times!)
Not too partial to any powders in particular, but I do like to use them in blender concoctions to add more protein.

I used to dislike watermelon when I was little (gasp!!), because I was one of those weird kids that had to separate different foods on my plate, didn’t like most veggies, and didn’t like those black watermelon seeds. I’m all grows up now though and so I like watermelon (and most veggies) a lot! 🙂

I tried the vanilla and chocolate flavors of this at a triathlon expo – loved the vanilla, hated the chocolate. My friend was psyched though because she is lactose intolerant and they make a pomegranate-cranberry goat whey protein powder that she thought tasted really good.

Silly question- What is the purpose of protein powder? Is it that protein builds muscle? Is it that it helps fill you up? I would love both of these 🙂 Thanks for giving me smiles!

People drink it for all different reasons. It does help to refuel your muscles after a work out, but doesn’t necessarily ‘build muscle’. I drink them because I have always loved soft fro-yo over yogurt and this recreates that, plus it’s good for you!

Your placemat is too cute. And, like the first commenter, I feel as though it’s also time for me to come out of the closet: I’m not a huge watermelon fan. I only like really high quality watermelon, and even then, I will only eat the light pink or very light red bits — anything else just seems to juicy/sweet to me…

I agree. I find it so difficult to find a protein powder that I actually like but I always seem to like the ones that they add in at the juice bar or in a coffee shop. I just need to ask them which kind they use.

I have been wanting to try a protein powder to replace Greek yogurt in my post run smoothies but am so afraid to spend a fortune on an entire can without trying it. Are there stores/retailers who sell samples or smaller quantities?

I have also eaten about half a watermelon today. Yum.

I’m new to the protein powder gig mostly because I hate how many calories most of them have. To dip my toes in, I got a small can each of the Biggest Loser whey protein powder in chocolate and vanilla. The chocolate is okay if mixed with a ton of other stuff, but I like the vanilla a lot, especially mixed into plain Greek yogurt. Would love to find a tasty peanut butter flavored one though. That would be awesome!

Bought 2 cups, pre-chopped watermelon the other day. Demolished them in 4 minutes flat. By the way, I bought it because a few days before you had talked about craving watermelon and it triggered my craving 😉

I honestly think I could demolish two giant watermelons all by myself and still not be satisfied. So I understand your admiration of this superbly awesome fruit! Happy Watermelon Day!!
