How’s your Wednesday going?
I’m sure you know what I’ve been up to…
Even though I was hungry after my mid-morning clients I stayed for 2 dances of the noon Zumba class. It was my fave instructor, and it was Zumba Gold – so I figured I could handle it.
Then, I rushed home to EAT. Please note that my salad bowl bucket is almost bigger than my placemat. You say “Tragic” I say “Delicious!”
And the food you’ve all I’ve been waiting for…
Watermelon on my watermelon placemat <3
Then, this super awesome Watermelon Day got better when my double sized can of protein powder showed up! A lot of people ask what kind of powder I use – it’s Spirutein Cherries Jubilee. I love it but it’s not for everyone (like everything else, right).Disclaimer: I do not suggest you get this protein powder because every single time I try a protein powder someone else likes – I think it’s gross. I really think tastes for this stuff vary widely and I would hate to suggest someone spend a lot of money on a can and waste it. If you can, try the individual servings of this brand and others before you get a whole one
Okay, I have 1/4 a watermelon to finish eating before I head back to work!
Got a protein powder you’re in love with?
Cat @Breakfast to Bed says
I love cookies n cream GNC brand. LOURVE it.
Sarah @ Sarah's Modern Bites says
SO true about the wide array of protein preferences out there. Not only with taste but type too. I cannot stand the taste of most plant based protein powders like pea or hemp or even soy 🙁 I find them so grainy. Though the cherries jubilee flavor sounds delish.
I always buy whey protein because it is super bio-available but obviously not for everyone. I buy Progressive Nutritional Harmonized Whey Protein in Vanilla. It is AWESOME.

(Yay it’s working for me again!!)
A good tasting protein powder is one of the hardest things to find. Especially because I have too many issues. It can’t have anything I’m intolerant of (ugh, WAY too many have xanthan gum!) I’d like it to be clean, no funky ingredients, and it must, MUST taste good.
Sami says
I’m in loveeee with BSN lean dessert protein in the banana nut bread <3 it is my all time favorite and I can't believe I haven't ordered it since like last year!
ALSO, love tera's whey bourbon vanilla! 🙂
xo.

I have a couple different powders that I rotate…they are made by a company called melealuca…there’s a protein one, a crave stopper one and a pre-workout one…the first two are just ok, but the pre-workout blend (in chocolate of course, duh) is like drinking chocolate milk, and it helps your body work more efficiently durning your workout. (good times!)
Not too partial to any powders in particular, but I do like to use them in blender concoctions to add more protein.
I used to dislike watermelon when I was little (gasp!!), because I was one of those weird kids that had to separate different foods on my plate, didn’t like most veggies, and didn’t like those black watermelon seeds. I’m all grows up now though and so I like watermelon (and most veggies) a lot! 🙂
Allpointswhole says
I use that one!
Rachael says
Tera’s Whey Protein Powder is good! They have many flavors. I like that some are organic and all are all natural and hormone free. http://www.teraswhey.com
runeatrepeat says
I tried Tera’s Whey a while back and hated it 🙁 I still have a can on top of my fridge I keep getting Ben to drink 🙂
Kristie says
I tried the vanilla and chocolate flavors of this at a triathlon expo – loved the vanilla, hated the chocolate. My friend was psyched though because she is lactose intolerant and they make a pomegranate-cranberry goat whey protein powder that she thought tasted really good.
Kelly says
I make it a habit to eat watermelon everday because i get tired of water- haha. good way to hydrate after running long distance to train for the Rebel Race indiana

SUN WARRIOR CHOCOLATE VEGAN RICE PROTEIN POWDER ROCKS!!!! I’ve tried LOTS of them, and this by FAR the best ever! Expensive, but worth it.
Becky @ cityrunnergirl says
cookies and cream dymatize
Laura says
My mom thinks my favorite protein shake tastes like chocolate cough syrup.
Lisa @ Sunny Seed Stories says
I like Spirutein as well. For a while they were giving away a free single-serving packet on their website. Don’t know if they still are, though.
Jess says
Silly question- What is the purpose of protein powder? Is it that protein builds muscle? Is it that it helps fill you up? I would love both of these 🙂 Thanks for giving me smiles!
runeatrepeat says
People drink it for all different reasons. It does help to refuel your muscles after a work out, but doesn’t necessarily ‘build muscle’. I drink them because I have always loved soft fro-yo over yogurt and this recreates that, plus it’s good for you!
caronae says
Your placemat is too cute. And, like the first commenter, I feel as though it’s also time for me to come out of the closet: I’m not a huge watermelon fan. I only like really high quality watermelon, and even then, I will only eat the light pink or very light red bits — anything else just seems to juicy/sweet to me…
runeatrepeat says
🙁 x2
Laura @ Cookies vs. Carrots says
I am always nervous to buy protein powder because it’s so expensive, and I’m not sure I’ll like it. Where do you get the individual sizes?
RunEatRepeat says
Sometimes they have them at Whole Foods or Mother’s Market (or similar smaller natural foods stores).
Jane @ Jane's Addictions says
I like Rainbow Light Energizer Vanilla powder and Complete Whole Food Health Optimizer (this one is a bit pricer). Both are vegan and provide nutrient and vitamin support in addition to protein.
RunEatRepeat says
But, do they taste good?
Jen says
That Rainbow Light Energizer Vanilla powder has a great nutritional profile…. but it tastes like Satan’s bum-hole.
Christin says
lmao!
Sarah @ Food and Love Diaries says
Protein powders are so tricky… it’s hard to get just the right one!
Maren says
I haven’t become a protein powder fan yet. But I’m sure I’ll have to get on the bandwagon at some point.
Kayla @ Sprouty Buns says
Biochem Vanilla Whey Protein makes everything taste like a milkshake!
Lauren says
I agree. I find it so difficult to find a protein powder that I actually like but I always seem to like the ones that they add in at the juice bar or in a coffee shop. I just need to ask them which kind they use.
Krissy @ Shiawase Life says
I just got Jay Robb’s Whey Protein (Vanilla) and I realllllly like it!
Amy says
I have been wanting to try a protein powder to replace Greek yogurt in my post run smoothies but am so afraid to spend a fortune on an entire can without trying it. Are there stores/retailers who sell samples or smaller quantities?
I have also eaten about half a watermelon today. Yum.
Krissy @ Shiawase Life says
Maybe you can find it in a bulk bin somewhere? Alternatively, I have seen packets sold at Natural Foods places sometimes!! 🙂
RunEatRepeat says
Mother’s Market and other smaller natural foods stores sometimes have it too 🙂
Dynamics says
Whole Foods has sample packets of about ten different kinds of Protein powders, egg and that green stuff.
Lauren@hungryspinner says
I like Click protein powder.. maybe because it contains espresso too!? I’m obsessed with coffee.
That salad BUCKET looks amazing! I am now craving salad. 🙂
Rosa - Fitness, Food, Fulfilled says
I’m new to the protein powder gig mostly because I hate how many calories most of them have. To dip my toes in, I got a small can each of the Biggest Loser whey protein powder in chocolate and vanilla. The chocolate is okay if mixed with a ton of other stuff, but I like the vanilla a lot, especially mixed into plain Greek yogurt. Would love to find a tasty peanut butter flavored one though. That would be awesome!
RunEatRepeat says
I got the Chocolate and Peanut Butter flavor from Spirutein and did not like it 🙁 So, if you try this brand – don’t get that one.
Amanda @FancyOatmeal says
You and I are totall in sync with the Cherry’s Jubilee Spirutein protein powder. I just ordered my “XL bucket” myself.
RunEatRepeat says
Yeah! Totally my fave 🙂
Julie (A Case of the Runs) says
I agree with you! Most protein powders = ick! Right now, I’m drinking that Sunwarrior stuff… it seems to be the most innocent one for now.
Jessica says
Bought 2 cups, pre-chopped watermelon the other day. Demolished them in 4 minutes flat. By the way, I bought it because a few days before you had talked about craving watermelon and it triggered my craving 😉
I honestly think I could demolish two giant watermelons all by myself and still not be satisfied. So I understand your admiration of this superbly awesome fruit! Happy Watermelon Day!!
Karla says
I hear you on the different protein powder flavors! I’ve tried a bunch that I think are gross.
Speaking of different taste buds, I have a confession: I hate watermelon.
But happy day to you!
