Run Eat Repeat

West meets East

Good Morning friends 🙂 Ben (who is on CA time) called me last night and I didn’t end up going to sleep until after 11pm! I know that’s not late for some of you, but I am an “eight hour a night” girl all the way! So I am once again dragging this morning.

Today is a Rest Day – this means I should do some cross training or something active instead of running. I always say this, but I will write it again – I swear by rest days. I have learned the hard way that my body (and probably your body too) needs rest! Rest days help prevent injuries and improve morale 🙂

I used the apartment’s gym and did 30 minutes on the elliptical. Big whoop. I also did about ten minutes of hand weights 🙂

Breakfast was a Greenish Monster (spinach, naner, strawberries, almond milk) and PB toast 🙂DSCN0310

West meets East – As you know I am a California girl all the way. I was born, raised and have always lived in Southern Cali. Well, this whole Maryland thing is a completely new world for me. I thought I would share my thoughts as I make observances about my new little world…

Observance: While driving Ben to the Baltimore airport this weekend the freeway was pretty clear, but no one was going that fast?! I don’t get it, the road is open – DRIVE!

In California if there is no one on the freeway the speed-limit is as fast as your little car can take ya… Oh, and you don’t get in the fast lane unless you’re actually fast – other drivers get pissed if you are in the “fast lane” and only drive the speed-limit.

THIS IS YOUR YEAR.

As a fellow resident of Columbia, I tell ya that there are TON of speed traps… esp. on the parkway to BWI. They like to hide & be all sneaky. Lord knows that I have found all the spots where the cops like to hide on 100 🙂 As for the Columbia drivers, you’ll soon realize that most of them are horrible drivers. When I first moved here, I was appalled at how bad they were! Ok, mini rant over 🙂

Lol I totally agree with you, I’m from LA and can’t stand slow drivers, that might have something to do with all my speeding tickets…

drive up north a little, like NJ or NY, or even MA. you’ll find PLENTY of drivers that want to go their own speed, i.e., as fast as possible, especially if they’re behind you.

Ugh, I have to agree with you on this one. I hate the drivers here! They drive slow in the fast lane, and don’t even let it think about raining…as soon as there is a little droplet, everyone slows down to a complete crawl!!! Annoying.

Hmm, I’m guessing it’s because you weren’t driving during rush hour, because then I-95 means 95mph or you get run over!

That’s funny! I guess Dallas drivers must be like those in CA. NO ONE drives the speed limit… except for my husband.

I grew up in the Baltimore-DC corridor and lived in Columbia, MD for several years (currently re-located to MA)..I think the reason you don’t see people cruising is two fold – legal unmarked police cars and the expectancy that you will hit stopped traffic soon. Behind LA, the Baltimore-DC corridor has some of the worst traffic in the US. Anyway, I have been reading your blog for a while now and never commented, first time for everything, keep up the good work!

hm, i disagree. not all CA drivers know that they are not supposed to be in the fast lane unless they are going fast… but i admit that i’m probably not objective on this topic as i’m german (aka from the country with no speed limits whatsoever… 🙂 )

i agree! i think where i live hands out licenses like candy! we also have the massholes who are the exact opposite of those you described: the ones where they drive 100+ in the fast lane only to cut across 4 lanes of traffic in .2 seconds to get to the exit.

Ha that’s funny. I feel like it’s always the Maryland drivers who ride on me when I’m not going fast enough. Drive down to DC if you want some speed!
