Hello! How are you doing? Today is a little bit of a day in the life post because I didn’t run, but I still ate and lived. A day in the eats post? Anyway. The reason I am so random today is due to lack of sleep + lots of iced coffee + I’m actually always random = Monican.
First let me share another confession from yesterday…
I declined a dinner invite to stay home and eat roasted veggies and yogurt and watch reality TV. I’ve been going out too much lately and wanted to chill.
If you don’t automatically assume that I chopped up one of my dark chocolate bars and put it on this yogurt, you don’t know me at all…
Now for today…
I am delirious because I woke up at 4am. Just randomly. My body was like, “Hey! I’m awake!!! What should we do today?!!!”
I couldn’t go back to sleep so I just decided to roll around for a bit until I dragged my sad carcass outta bed. It’s a rest day from running so I just took a walk and did some strength training with my free weights in front of the TV.
On my walk I spotted a very fuzzy lil caterpillar. Ha!! (Again lack of sleep plus iced coffee compelled me to stop and take a picture of him. I don’t have it together today.)
When I got back home I made a three course breakfast…
Pro tip: Pico de gallo is the best when you’re lazy about chopping onions and tomatoes. (Always.)
I did some work after breakfast and then got ready to go to a new to me Bible study. Iced coffee all morning. I’m trying to prevent an early crash…
Almonds and a cat.
I made lunch as soon as I got in the door. I am extra hungry today – partially from being up so early, partially because that’s how I roll.
Aaaand now I’m dancing in the street.
Not really. I have a bunch of papers to go through for taxes (fun) and a deadline for a freelance project. Oh, and I should probably make another iced coffee…

What you failed to mention is how adorable that maxi dress is!! I need it. Also I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who uses pico and salsa as bases for scrambles and omelettes when I’m feeling muy lazy. I mean, I think it’s more innovative and efficient (and delicious).

5 am–SO GLAD TOMORROW IS SATURDAY!!
I like getting up before the “crew” (3 kids). I like the quiet to start my day while I get breakfast together, even though they are older (tweens) I like the time to gather my thoughts before being hit with the crazy!

I woke at 6.25, I always wake 5 mins before my alarm?!?
I seen a caterpillar exactly like that too and also took a picture of it! Ha!
Taxes Ugh!!!! Xo

I have had horrible insomnia lately. Hence being awake at 2:40am. Growl! I slept until 9:30am Thursday morning (went to bed at 1-2am) I have to be up Friday morning at 7am so that will be fun. 🙂
Cheri @ Overactive Blogger says
OH NOOOOO just now doing taxes? Godspeed babe!

I am usually up around 4:15 am. On days I “sleep in”, it’s more like 6 am. Of course, by 8 pm I start to turn into a pumpkin. Alas, it’s all for the love of my morning workout.
Livi @ Eat, Pray, Work It Out says
Love you maxi dress!

I woke up at 4 too, as I got older, I have found that I don’t sleep at all during certain times of the month.
Runwright says
I have taken a picture of a caterpillar on the street. You’re not weird.
Jill @ Champagne for Everyday says
I didn’t work out (at all) today either…womp womp!!! Love that dress on you, perfect color! I woke up at 5:30 for the gym, but of course, did not make it. LOL!
Happy Thursday 🙂

4am?! That’s crazy talk. I’ll probalby jinx myself for saying this but I think every time I’ve woken up early I’m always able to fall back asleep! but YAY for iced coffee to save you 🙂

I usually get up around 4am on my days off because I have to get up at 3am for work. I used to hate it but now I think it’s the best. I get so much done when I’m up super early. I feel jealous though, that it’s 59 degrees there at 4am when it’s 20 here in Pennsylvania. That caterpillar is lucky to be from California.

Hey Monica! I just started reading your blog about a month ago and just wanted to say I LOVE your writing style, your posts and personality. Wish I’d have found this sooner! 🙂
Stacy @ SweatingTulipz says
The upside is that you will probably sleep well tonight! Waking up before your alarm is never fun when you don’t HAVE to be up…I did not want to get out of bed this am at all..so I am kind of jealous that you got up and at em’! I don’t think you’ll see that caterpillar again!
Alisha @ Real Girl Running says
This morning I woke up at 5:30am, which is a bit later than normal actually! But because I could (no run this morning) I went back to sleep for about 45 minutes, and got up at 6:15am for work.
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
Well lots of food, strength training and walking sounds like a lovely day. Sometimes it’s okay to get up extra early, because you get so much done! 🙂
sally @ sweat out the small stuff says
I woke up at 6:30 but shut the alarm and fell back asleep. Then my friend texted me at 8am and that woke me up. Good think i was working from home today or i would have been really late.
love the pico idea. I hate chopping/dicing veggies.
Kelsie says
I woke up at 5ish and didn’t fall back asleep until 630…just in time for my alarm to go off at 7…lovely.
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job says
I woke up at 7. I never would have thought that I would enjoy being a morning person, but the past year or two I have loved getting things out of the way in the morning. Not 4am morning, but you know.
Danielle says
That’s SO early! What time did you go to bed?
