I keep saying that I don’t want to eat yogurt and have been making myself eat it to make sure I’m getting enough protein. I think one of the reasons I don’t want it is because I don’t like plain yogurt! But – that’s the only kind I’ve been buying (from Costco, so I have a lot!). So, when I do eat yogurt I have to top it with something sweet like granola, cereals, other Crap I should be cutting back on.
I would be happy to eat this yogurt alone (or with a piece of fruit on the side). This is good stuff!
I made myself eat my packed plain yogurt with granola for a snack (I even added more toppings after I ate all the granola). But, tomorrow I am eating my fun yogurt 🙂
My lunch was a salad, grapes and PB&J. I love eating salads with lunch – this way I don’t have to worry about getting in so many veggies with dinner 🙂
I told Ben I eat my PB&J by taking it apart and eating one side at a time and he thought that was so weird! Ha!
Dinner: I had a very bad day of eating for dinner and snacks that I don’t really want to talk about – wow, that’s really unlike me! I think it’s a combo of desperation to lose weight and pressure from the blog I put on myself 🙁
Now I’m watching QVC sell The Biggest Loser stuff – I am tempted to buy all of it and lose weight already damnit!!!
Question: Have you ever bought anything from TV? Infomercials? Home Shopping? QVC?
Me: My friend bought me a Snuggie for Christmas and I thought it was the funnest thing. I think part of the allure is that you see it on TV and you have one too!

Hi Sarah, I was only trying to say that by trying to cut things out of one’s lifestyle, rather than incorporating more foods in, it’s more of a “diet” than anything. Nobody is perfect though, definitely not me!
I have also been through treatment, and I hate seeing people beat themselves up with guilt over food.
Sarah says
I agree with the comment above. However, I don’t see how attempting to “eat intuitively” has been helping you lately… As you still seem to beat yourself up for things that you eat. When I was going through treatment for ED, I was set up on a specific meal plan for every meal and snack time. My RD instructed me that even if I were to binge/ purge, skip a meal, or just binge, to get back on track with the VERY NEXT schedule meal or snack and eat the entire thing. No matter what. I felt like that helped me teach my body that I was always going to feed it and slowly, I was able to stop the unhealthy behaviors. Eventually when I was able to do that, I started eating more intuitively (granted its taken me 4 years). It’s hard to go straight from ED like behaviors to full on eating intuitively and it seems like you are maybe skipping a middle ground that may help you really learn to let your body trust you.

Don’t you think that your “cut the crap” challenge is a little counter-productive to your IE efforts? At least for now anyway? I always think that you’re too hard on yourself anyway, and the fact that you said this struck me:
“So, when I do eat yogurt I have to top it with something sweet like granola, cereals, other Crap I should be cutting back on.”
Who says you should be cutting back on it? Which *voice* is telling you to cut back on it? If you **like** putting something sweet on your granola, then that’s you’re prerogative girl. If right now all you have is plain yogurt, and the only way you can enjoy it is with something sweet added, then enjoy it. You don’t have to feel guilty about it.
And anyway…what is the difference between putting something sweet on top of your yogurt and just buying sweetened yogurt in the first place? It’s all sweet, and if you like it, then you should eat it. I think the issue is that granola isn’t one of your “safe” foods, and it still scares you to eat it…not that you ‘shouldn’t’ put anything sweet into your plain yogurt.
I know that I always end up putting myself on the “devil’s advocate” side of the fence here, and I am totally not trying to offend you. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been through this crazy cycle myself and I see the patterns that you’re going through, or if I’m just projecting. In either case, I’m just too much of a loudmouth to not say anything. So, I’m sorry if my comments piss you off. I really don’t mean to.
I just feel like some people here are encouraging you to do this “diet” thing (which is basically what it is), and in my opinion, it’s a step backwards for you.
And now I’ll shut up. And apologize again. Sorry.

I posted yesterday about my un-noteworthy dinner…I had oversnacked and was frustrated with myself. Your blog reader definitely understand!
I have 2 things from tv and love both. The Magic Bullet, and the Swivel Sweeper. Both are available in stores now, of course!

Ha, I love seeing the funny eating quirks that people have. I’ve never eaten a sandwich like that before, but I guess it does make it go further!
Don’t feel bad about your “bad” eating. You just got back from vacation and need to get back into the groove of things. I always feel sort of “ugh” after a week away and not eating home cooked meals.
Stephanie says
Try adding a little bit of honey to the yogurt, then fresh or dried fruit. It should sweeten it up nicely. Or use honey-yogurt as the dressing for a fruit salad, rather than the base to add things to.

My mom works for QVC so I’ve bought multiple items from them at a cool discount!
I used to feel the same about greek yogurt but now I actually am enjoying the tart flavor.

If you really want the yogurt, blend it in a smoothie. I always blend things I should eat but aren’t in the mood for.

Don’t ever beat yourself up cause you think you had a bad dinner….unless its a dorito and cheeze whiz sundae, I think most of your decisions will be solid. You should be able to have something you woldn’t normally have. You know tomorrow you will be right back on track, so don’t even sweat it chica!! PS~ I cannot stand plain yogurt, so I don’t buy it. Try adding whey or hemp protein to your meals if you really want to get that protein in.

I just stumbled upon your blog a week or so ago and felt inclined to comment. Just like you, I had a bad dinner tonight and I’m doing a pretty good job of beating myself up over it. I envy those that find balance in their eating, eating to live rather than living to eat. It’s a struggle and I just wanted to say that I totally know how you feel. I guess the good thing is that tomorrow is a new day. Yay for fresh starts!
PS–my husband is running in the Marine Corps Marathon. My daughter and I will be at the finish line waiting for him, but I’ll cheer for you as well. Good luck!

I meant a not entirely “HEALTHY” dinner.
Melissa says
Just came across your blog….Hello!!! Don’t worry about having a not entirely dinner….just shows that you’re human!!!!
I like Fage yogurt but I, too, add toppings: fiber one, sugar free jelly, fruit, honey, agave nectar (not all at once). Somebody recently recommended I try the Pineapple and Peach Chobani’s. So they are next on the list.
Yes, I’ve bought from QVC before. My mom is obsessed with it and calls me whenever she sees something I’d like. I bought mostly beauty products and have been happy with most of them.

Don’t worry about having a “bad” dinner… just because you write a blog about it doesn’t mean that you’re not human. You have to splurge once in awhile! I hope that you had a great honeymoon!!

Don’t sweat the small stuff! I am sure even if you ate a whole pizza and gallon of ice cream, you would run it off in a day!
Have you ever thought about how eating what you think you “should” eat leaves you unsatisfied and then you end up eating more later? Happens to me all the time. Maybe it’s the same with the yogurt situation?

I got this utensil thing from TV a few years ago, and it was awful. Nothing since then, but I LOVE watching infomercials.
All the eating evens out, don’t be hard on yourself!

I ordered Bloussant from a magazine when I was in high school. It’s these pills that are supposed to enlarge your bust size. $200 later I went from a 32A to a 32A. Assholes…..haha.
I also have the Magic Bullet (wedding present), Aqua Globes and those Green Product Bags. But all are from Bed, Bath and Beyond.
Don’t worry about the snacking and dinner, I’m willing to bet that as a result you won’t be as hungry tomorrow morning and it will even itself out.

we have the magic bullet but my mother got it at bed bath and beyond or some other place…i have never directly purchased anything…i also had the Freedom Rock tapes years ago
did you know that some stores have whole aisles full of “as seen on tv” items

I always make my PB&J’s open faced, too, haha.
One christmas I asked for a bunch of pokemon cards from QVC(I was 8 I think). It was such a rip off because they made it look like you get so much more on the television
