Yesterday on my long run I had a weird neck spasm thing. It started bothering me last night so I put a hot pad on it. And I’m headed off to my Zumba certification workshop so I just took some Ibuprofen. But, does anyone have any other suggestions?

Ben and I woke up a little after 5am for some reason and tossed and turned until we decided to just get up. I don’t have to be at the workshop until 8am (and it’s super close) so I had time to make a good breakfast!IMG_8200 (800x533)

Pumpkin pancakes with sunflower seed butter and syrup. Yep, those are chia seeds on the pancakes not little bugs. At least I hope…IMG_8204 (800x533)

Four pancakes are better than 2. It’s science.IMG_8206 (800x533)

Today I am headed to get certified to teach Zumba classes. It is an all day thing and the instructions said to pack a lunch.

Did I ever!IMG_8209 (800x533)

When I first got this lunch bag from Crystal Geyser I told Ben he could use it for his lunch. He said only morbidly obese people take such big lunch bags.

Well, call me what you will but I’m excited about this suitcase of food!

I’ll post all the information about getting Zumba certified tonight. Leave any questions in the comments so I can address them in one shot.

I had a neck spasm / pain problem the week after I saw you – I used those Tiger Balm patches and they realllly helped.

I hope the Zumba training went well. I’ve never tried it before, but zumba looks really fun!

I am literally laughing out loud at that lunchbox/lunch suitcase comment… That’s totally how I bring lunches to work too- enough to feed a small army.

Can’t wait to hear how your Zumba cert goes!

I’m so curious about what you filled your lunch suitcase with! Was it difficult to get into the Zumba training class? Meaning, was there a wait-list or anything? Also, approx. how many people in the class?

Can’t wait to hear about your Zumba certification class! I don’t have many questions because I have never taken a Zumba class though I have been DYING too! While I was on the stationary bike at the gym yesterday (cannot run until my leg is diagnosed ugh) there was a Zumba class going on and it looked like SO much fun! I played Dance central on XBox Connect last night, does that count?? How do you feel after a Zumba class?? Like you got a serious workout?

I totally had four slices of french toast this morning… because you’re right, it’s science that 4 is better than 2… especially when nursing a hangover!

Who did you get licensed with for Zumba? They are all great! Before my B1 training, everyone kept telling me to bring lots of food, but I didn’t listen. Luckily there was a grill next door!! I hope that you had fun!!

How many different levels of Zumba certification are there? Are there different types of Zumba classes (Zumba vs. Zumba Gold.)

Teaching Zumba would be so much fun! Like hosting a party all the time.

The neck thing sounds painful. I’ve had it happen several time to me and I usually have to massage the neck muscle until it starts to give. It’s usually the one that runs down to the shoulder blade, though.

How big does a lunch pail have to be, to hold a meal with a salad, some dressing, a piece of fruit, a cold drink and an ice pack? Yours looks about right, even without YOUR sized salad.
I take breakfast, lunch and a snack to work each day. The more ‘good’ food I have with me, the less I’m tempted to snack on the available junk food.

I am currently looking for a lunchbox that BIG! Volumetric eating takes a lot of space.

Well I might have been formerly morbidly obese, so that might have something to do with it, but that doesn’t look like a big lunch bag to me! In fact, I don’t think it would hold one of my salad bowls. If I ever need to take a lunch somewhere I’m going to have to figure out how to carry a cooler around like it ain’t no thang.

That sucks about your neck spasm, I hope you can get the kinks worked out!

Try Icy Hot – works like magic for me (it might take a good week for it to go away). Also have your hubby massage the area with as much pressure as you can bear.

That lunch box may be the right size for morbidly obese people but also for me! I’ve gone through a countless number of lunch boxes and none of them seem to hold all the goodies I want to pack! Trust me, you’d rather I eat frequently than be hungry- not a happy girl 😛

I often have this problem with my neck, especially when I’m getting to the end of a long run. It doesn’t happen me with other workouts.

I use a heat pad like you did, lots of neck and shoulder stretches and foam rolling. Annoying though!

Neck musculature inserts along the scapula, sternum, spine and clavicle. Was it on the side or back of the neck? At the office, we have taped two tennis balls together and place them at the base of the skull and lie on a pillow w them for five minutes allowing the neck muscles to relax into it. Could be due to tightness in shoulders too perhaps. Some upper trap stretches?

I would take the neck spasm as a reason to get *several* professional massages over the next month!
