Run Eat Repeat

Top 10 Reasons Why Runners Are Really LAZY!

Fun

14 May

Despite all the miles we run, runners can be a lazy bunch when you think about it. When I’m not running I’m eating or repeating blogging about it from the comfort of my couch.

This thought occurred to me recently when I someone was venting about a course being ‘long’ after a race. (This means something like it was supposed to be 5.2 miles but was really 5.4.)

And then again on a recent long run when I was super excited to just get back home and relax for the rest of the day. So, I compiled a list of the

Top 10 Reasons Runners are Really LAZY

1. We drag our feet to anything that is not running… yoga, the gym, Abuelita’s house, church…

2. We willingly run 13.1 miles. but complain like crazy if the course is so much as 4 feet over.

“That was 13.3 miles??!?!!!!!!! WHAT THE FACK?!?”

3. We lay around eating donuts after our long runs.

Don’t act like it’s just me.

4. We refuse to foam roll or use the stick because it’s unpleasant.

5. LOVE to EAT, not to cook. We love convenience food that doesn’t require cooking… bananas, bagels, energy bars, gatorade, cookies…

6. When our clothes are rubbing weird we just keep running instead of fixing it. (Which results is disgusting chafing that we regret later.)

7. We love to sleep. Hey, it’s part of recovery!

8. We’ll sit for hours icing our knees on and off while updating social media with tales of our latest run.

9. We make running dates with friends so we can multi-task and be social while doing our favorite hobby. Then, it’s okay to bail on them for happy hour tomorrow since we already saw them this week.

10. We sit around reading running blogs for way too long…

Question: On a scale of House Cat to Golden Retriever Puppy – how lazy are you?

Me right now: 4  year old boy. Where I have a lot of energy, but should probably take a nap or I’m going to be cranky later. And there’s food all over my shirt.

THIS IS YOUR YEAR.

ALL OF THIS! Haha – I am so glad to know I’m not the only lazy runner out there. 🙂

This is all so true! I can run 20, up to 50 miles per week. But then I’m all about the donut (or bread basket, or ice cream, or whatever) and couch 🙂

This pretty much sums it up! Too funny…….
Especially when a race course is further then it is supposed to be! Happened to me Sunday and I was not too pleased to say the least!
p.s. I am supposed to be doing a million other things right now but I have been reading/blogging since 7am (it’s now 10:20am)…….Oh well…..it’s what we do!
      Have a great weekend Bella

My allergies are killing me so at the moment I’ve got the energy of a 25 pound housecat after a giant meal.

I will admit that i’m a huge stickler for races being the correct length. I know there is always some room for error with what my garmin says, but there is one race that i’ve done that 2 years in a row they’ve changed the route, and each time its been almost a 1/4 mile too long. And since i’m always pushing to beat my last years time, it kills me when i get a longer time.

This is awesome … And so true. I attempted to go for a swim this morning. I put my bathing suit on and almost got out the door … And then I realized a cup of tea and watching Rachael Ray would be much more enjoyable.

      Fail.

I’m full blown house cat. I don’t use the stick or foam roll enough, I do anything to avoid doing intervals and strength training, and I’m already excited about a day of doing very little tomorrow. I’ll go for a 12 mile run, but otherwise mostly read blogs and watch The West Wing 🙂

I can’t get over what seems to be a chia pet with a gold fro of hair in the background of the picture with you holding your foam roller. It may be a deflated ball? I prefer the first theory.

In other news, lazy enough to think about that for twenty minutes before I napped this afternoon.

Gold fro chia pets, we could be on to something.

Super duper lazy…we can run 10, 12 or 26 miles but when it comes to parking, we pick the closest closest closet available parking bay in the mall. 😛

Haha! I am pretty much all the things you listed. Just a few days ago I ran just 6 miles and wore the wrong shorts but was too lazy to change…worst chafe I’ve had in awhile!

I would say I am pretty high energy, but then when I am done, I am DONE. I can nap with the best of them… 🙂

Oh man, I can go back and forth. Weekends, I’m like a house cat. Often I’ll do a long run/workout and then NOTHING else that day and I get cranky if people try to make plans and come between my couch and food/beer. During the week though, I’m pretty go go go.

Yes to all of these. Right now (post run) I’m probably 2 steps away from being a house cat.

I’ve been super lazy this week. I have a half on Sunday that I haven’t trained for and my NASM exam is in two weeks. Same story. Hmmm maybe I’ll go read a book…

I was a golden puppy earlier but now i’m a cat. I’m at 15,000 steps for the day.
I have to say though i’ve been foam rolling daily since March thanks to my bout with runner’s knee. But everything else is me to a T!
