Hello! How is your week so far? Did you pile on some miles yesterday? I did.

I ran 10 miles at a slow pace while listening to a running podcast.
I spent all last week listening to the true crime podcast, Accused. The Crime Writers On podcasters told me it was amazing and were reviewing it in a recent episode on their show. Well, it was good but not great. I just don’t think anything can compete with Serial season 1. Sarah Koenig is just such an amazing storyteller. She really made listeners get lost in the story and care about what was happening and the people who were there (so many people hated Jay).

Moral of the story: Accused is good, but not great. It fills the Serial sized hole in your heart (if you have one). The story is unsolved but not as involved as Serial.
Did anyone else listen to this one?
It was a perfect morning for a run. I love Fall running. I think it’s the best season for long runs.

Post-run breakfast: eggs, tortillas and a side of Real Housewives of the OC. Damn those girls. Why can’t these ladies get along? Is it totally fake or fueled by the producers (it must be, I’m dumb for asking that, right?).



Before my run this morning Vegas was begging for food so I filled up his bowl. But for whatever reason he thought it would be better to just eat from the tupperware I use to store his food. NOT.COOL.

I feel like I am going to be a bad mom because I am super anti- cats on the table, but as soon as he got up there I took a picture instead of throwing him off. I need to stay consistent in my rules! (Unless it’s a super cute photo.)
I also let him attack the rotisserie chicken I bought the other day. I couldn’t pull the meat off because it was kinda gross (that never happens). I hate wasting food so I gave it to Vegas and told him it was Thanksgiving. (Don’t tell him it’s not really Thanksgiving, he really enjoys celebrating the holidays.)

I had a long day that included a very cathartic therapy session. That’s good! But now I’m dehydrated and exhausted.
The cure for all my woes?
Dark chocolate covered walnuts. Because they’re healthy.

rest day
6 miles on the treadmill today – yuck! It was too dark when I got home from work! I also did a barre leg workout that left my legs burning by the end.

It’s not exactly true crime, but have you listened to The Black Tapes podcast? I commute to a different place for work each day and this one really sucked me in. I typically listen to audio books for running. When I am lacking motivation, I pick out a really good audio book and only allow myself to listen to it when I run. It gets me out the door every time because I need to know what happens next!

Despite not wanting to get started, I did it! I walk/ran about 2.5 miles, not sure of the distance because my fitbit app kept crashing. 🙁
Day 2 and I’m already late. Phone was being dumb last night. I won’t get any running in until the weekend but did 3.5 miles on the elliptical and 15 minutes on the rowing machine. Today will be however far I can go on the elliptical during my 30 minute lunch.
I ran 3 miles on the treadmill and incorporated some speed work!

I have a question about podcasts, how do you know what to pick? I want to try them to see if it helps me get in the zone better but I feel like I would pick something and then have to keep stopping during my run to find something else. I have Spotify if there are any recommendations on there. . Serial is not on there 🙁

Made it to the gym for a heavy leg day! Definitely wanted to go home and flop on the couch but felt amazing and accomplished after the workout.

I got 2km of walking in. Some was running to the bus stop, some was walking with a kid on my back who fell asleep on the bus today. I might need to up my goal from 10km weekly to 12-15km weekly.
Today’s workout was a 1 hour kickboxing class. Probably one of my favorite workouts aside from running!

Accused is next on my podcast list bc the crime writers on told me to listen to it too, but I just finished in the dark which they also reviewed and thought it was good… but being a mom and usually having to run in the dark it was pretty scary to listen to!
I raked leaves today! If you have ever visited the Midwest in Fall, you’d understand what a workout it is!

4 mile tempo run and 20 minutes of yoga for me today. It was nice to get my legs moving a little more quickly after months of marathon training.
Did better today and got out for a 30min walk right after work. It was a gorgeous fall day here in PA!

I got 22,700 steps in today! I got back on the elliptical today (first time since spring). I also walked 2.2 miles on the treadmill. The rest of the steps are from teaching and walking to and from school. I live in Chicago so walking to school will end soon!

I’ve been consistently walking three or miles a day since the beginning of October. Had my best time for four miles tonight, at just under an hour. I actually ran for a couple of stretches this time. Once I start accomplishing that on a regular basis, I’m going to take the distance up a notch.
Met my daily steps goal + 3000 extra to ensure I get my weekly average.

5 miles this morning! I love crime podcasts too! Completely agree on Serial vs. The Accused. I’m listening to “In The Dark” now-about the Jacob Wetterling case and I’m liking it more than the Accused.
Went for a 7 mile run after work…I’m not looking forward to next week, when it’ll be getting dark MUCH earlier!!

POTM: 5 miles today! I ignored my watch and ran by feel, and was really pleased with my overall pace at the end of the run.
Pile on the miles is already helping stick with it because I did not feel like going on a walk today but got my goal of 6500 steps in! Need some compression socks lol.

Ran 2.5 miles and then cooled down with a sloooowww half mile walk. It was just so nice out, I didn’t want to rush and be done. Feels good to be getting back on track with my workouts. The nicer weather certainly makes it easier. The true test will be when I can’t just hop outside and go. I’ll enjoy these mild fall days while they last though!

I went on a 30 minute walk with my puppy last night and I’m so proud! Plan to repeat it again today…I think that instead of changing clothes, I’ll just put on sneakers and go still wearing my work clothes. Sitting in my house made it much more difficult to go back out.

I went to the Y on my lunch break and took a core class– trying to strengthen my core so I can run my first marathon in 2017! This is my first class in 15 years, so I’m pretty happy just to have not died.

I did a 4 mile run and 1 mile walk on the treadmill today before a long day of class and work!
No running today but went to CrossFit and did push press: 3 sets of 8@100lbs then the workout which was 7 power snatches@ 65lbs and 14 pushups – as many rounds of that in 9 minutes as possible. I managed to get 5 full rounds and plus 14 more reps
Dragged my butt out of bed at 4:45 and went to the gym. Got 4.25 miles on the elliptical (low impact for my knee) and worked the triceps.
I used my lunch break to run 5 easy(ish) miles.
And my favorite Podcast is Good Job Brain. 🙂
